quote:

The unfortunate fact is that none of us is completely free of hypocrisy, nor are we likely be in this life. Hypocrisy is simply acting as if we were something we are not. Sometimes that is because we wish to impress or deceive others, sometimes it is because we are in the process of becoming, but aren't quite yet.

I believe we are free of hypocrisy when we are saved and walking in truth. I know that when I walk in His light there is no darkness there and I know that He came for the very reason to set me free as He has done.

quote:

Here's something I do with the children in Sunday school from time to time.
We have a small bed of rocks in front of our church. I tell the kids to pick out 5 rocks and bring them back to me. Then we look at them. Theres black ones, striped ones, speckled ones, red ones, gray ones, big ones, small ones, smooth ones, some with sharp points. I point all this out to the children, and we talk about how beautful each one is while they are so different. Then I tell them that thats the way people are. All different, and all beautful each in they're own way. Then I tell them that I think the rocks are most beautful when they're all together. The lesson goes on to talking about how we're we're all different and how we are to love others who are different from ourselfs.

That is a nice lesson .

quote:

I do hope that you find a good church, or at least a good group of Christian friends to both encourage and be encouraged by.

That's the thing. I think He is setting me apart to be a leader. He uses other means with which to teach me. Places such as this forum and other places where I have to fight to get justice or debate to get to the truth. I am discovering reasons why leaders don't really have friends.

I just felt like I needed to share this verse.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The Lord may well have set you apart for His purpose. But I don't think He would do that by keeping you from worshiping with other believers. His word clearly says we are not to do this. There is nothing that I have fourd to say we should. If it doesn't aline with God's word, don't believe it.
He may well want to use you as a leader. I feel that I have been used as a leader at time. I think the best leaders are the ones who people want to follow. How do you get people to want to follow you? After the Lords grace of course, by letting them get to know you, and trust you. They can't do that if you don't spend time with them.

Something to think about. God Bless.

Actually if there are no other believers then God will send the angels down to worship with you. It has happened to saints in the past. Luther seperated himself, there were others too.

Big difference between people singing in a place together and people worshipping in Spirit and truth, te former is everywhere, the latter is very very rare. I don't think I err in wanting to worship in Spirit and truth.

Luther didn't separate himself, even when he was in disguise hiding from those who would burn him at the stake he had friends and associates around him, attended church services (even leading some, incognito) he even married and was devoted to his wife.

There is ample evidence of this in every account of Luther's life.

I've always just associated Mary M. as a follower of Christ. When I was first saved, I'd get confused about who she was, but the more I read Scriptures, the more things get cleared up about her.

If you read any of Luther's biographies, or even Concerning Christian Liberty a Letter Martin Luther wrote to Pope Leo X, you would see how much of Luther's efforts even after he had been declared a heretic and was under excommunication and in danger of being burned at the stake, was spent trying NOT to break with the Roman Catholic Church.

He was very concerned about certain excesses and problems that they saw within the Roman Catholic Church and wished to discuss, debate and correct them, while others in the hierarchy refused to even consider debate on the issue branding Luther and a heretic.

The separation was by the Roman Catholics not by Luther. Luther refused to recant his position refusing to accept the authority of the church hierarchy unless it was accompanied by convincing arguments based upon reason and scripture, and the church refused to accept an ordained priest who wanted something more than "Because we say so".

She is the subject of much controvesy, most recently with the Da Vinci poopoo's and before in many other ways. She was shunned by the disciples. They were jealous of the relationship she had with the Lord. Not sure what happened to her. Some say she ran to the caves and grew her hair for clothing and got fed by the birds, other say she went to France. She still gets around today. She is the one no one wants to talk to and who is rejected by the world, bit like cinderella was she also has a wicked step mother and sisters.

Oh my, I just figured that she kept on serving the Lord until the day she died.

Of course I don't want to talk to her. She's dead.

This theory is based upon what? Have you discovered some new scripture that indicates this, or is this what you imagine?

quote:

From the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia:

She was the first at the tomb (Mat_28:1; Mar_16:1; Luk_24:10). But she was also the last at the cross - she and her companions (Mat_27:61; Mar_15:40). A glance at the whole brief narrative of her life in the Gospels will interpret this combination of statements. Mary first appears near the beginning of the narrative of the Galilean ministry as one of a group consisting of “many” (Luk_8:3), among them Joanna, wife of Chuzas, Herod's steward, who followed with the Twelve and ministered to them of their substance. Mary then disappears from the text to reappear as one of the self-appointed watchers of the cross, thereafter to join the company of witnesses to the resurrection. The significance of these simple statements for the understanding of Mary's character and position among the followers of Jesus is not far to seek. She came into the circle of believers, marked out from the rest by an exceptional experience of the Lord's healing power. Henceforth, to the very end, with unwearied devotion, with intent and eager willingness, with undaunted courage even in the face of dangers which broke the courage of the chosen Twelve, she followed and served her Lord. It is impossible that such singleness of purpose, such strength of will, and, above all, such courage in danger, should have been exhibited by a weak, hysterical, neurotic incurable. The action of these women of whom Mary was one, in serving their Master's need while in life, and in administering the last rites to His body in death, is characteristic of woman at her best.

The fact that she is among only three among the many who supported Jesus and His disciples with their own substance (wealth) would indicate that, far from being shunned, she was looked upon with respect and deference. That she was noted by name among those who were at the cross, and as first at the tomb are marks of honor rather than an indication of scorn.

NOWHERE is she shown in a scornful or derogatory manner...she is one of the very few women mentioned by name in scripture, and she rates not just one, but multiple mentions, all of which show her in a favorable light.

Mary Magdalene is, indeed a good role model for a follower of Christ. But there is absolutely NO evidence that she was rejected or scorned by the disciples, nor by the world. except in your imagination.

I searched in Strong's, and the only places I see Mary Magdalene mentioned is, Matthew 27:56, 27:61, 28:1, Mark 15:40, 15:47, 16:1, 16:9, Luke 8:2, 24:10, John 19:25, 20:1, 20:18.

None of these places say anything bad about her except Luke 8:2 says that she had seven devils go out of her. I seem to reminber that some teachings (of some churches) was that she was the woman that was a "sinner" in verse 7 of Luke, the chapter before she is mentioned. But the Bible doesn't say this. (That was man's teaching, not God's and was probably a long time after her death.) So I don't see where you get this:

quote:

She is the subject of much controvesy, most recently with the Da Vinci poopoo's and before in many other ways. She was shunned by the disciples. They were jealous of the relationship she had with the Lord. Not sure what happened to her. Some say she ran to the caves and grew her hair for clothing and got fed by the birds, other say she went to France. She still gets around today. Can you tell me where you get this? I can only think from some old and wrong teaching.

No she's not. She is still alive, watching us from the grandstands.

Hey, it's not like this is central teaching which affects my salvation. Just one of the women in the bible who I like most. Anything could've happened to her. There is really no biblical account which has lasted so we can only wonder really.

I'm sorry if I offended you. I sure didn't mean to. I just wanted to share with you that the Bible doesn't say bad things about her. (As you yourself also said in your post.) It's just like I said, I seem to reminber that some churches "bad mouthed" her, and it doesn't say bad things about her in the Bible. (If I remiber right, they wanted to put down women, and sound like only men were important, so they said things about her, to put her down.)

So my question on where you got the ideas you posted, was an honest one. (I was thinking maybe from some teaching at a church while you were a child???)

And your right, it's not a salvation issue. We can agree to disagree. :)
Anyway, I want to tell you again that I'm sorry if I offended you.
God Bless.
