So sad to hear of Dottie's death, even though she is in a far better, pain free place. I posted on another thread several weeks ago about seeing her in the first concert of "The Golden Girls Of Gospel", with Naomi Sego and Lulu Roman. That was the only time I had been privileged to see Dottie in person, and although I didn't get to talk to her in person, I gained even more appreciation for her as a person. The most memorable thing of that concert for my wife and me was when Lulu sang Dotties song "We Shall Behold Him", and Dottie did it in sign language. The song has been running over and over in both our heads since I first read the news. I also went back to the fact that that was what Anthony Burger was playing just prior to his death. Chills and tears are starting all over again for me! Bye Dottie [title edited by moderator]

We will miss Dottie and all she does. Our prayers are with the family and others involved in this time of loss and healing process. We look forward to hearing Dottie sang again around the Throne of God with the Great Host. God Bless.

I am very sadden about the passing of Dottie Rambo. It really broke my heart this morning when I read about it in the local newspaper here in Canton, OH. I have just recently started out singing as a soloist in church and the last song I sung last night was "Sheltered In The Arms of God." I never got to meet Dottie in person, but someday I will get to meet her. One of the first gospel songs that I learned to play was "If That Isn't Love." I really enjoyed hearing Dottie sing by me buying her CD's, tapes, and records from stores, she was an inspiration to me through her music and songwriting. I'm really going to miss her. I will remember her always when I sing the songs that she wrote. I'll remember her and her family and everyone that was on the bus when I pray. Now I know everyone is saddened by her passing, but she's in a better place now than what we are now.

Has anyone read a statement from Buck or Reba Rambo? I saw Reba's husband on the news show. But where are Buck and Reba?

You have to give time for someone to make statements considering this tradegy. Reba's husband may have been speaking for the family and remember Buck and Dottie were divorced. So a public statement may not be forthcoming.

Actually, i believe the person in the interview on tv was actually her son in law Donny McGuire. A great guy, he is married to Reba, so this would be why he was speaking on behalf of the family. This is truly a tragic loss to all of southern gospel music. I guess my favorite song by Dottie was I Call Him Lord". What a description of our Savior.. He Is Lord! I for one would like to say CONGRATULATIONS" to Miss Dottie. This is what she has sung about and longed for and what a way to spend mothers day!!!!! She will be missed, Badly to say the least, but remember, she would't return for anything.. Ill gaurantee it!!!! WE LOVE YOU DOTTIE..... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

ORIGINAL: L5FanLady I wish I could say that I have several sweet memories of Miss Dottie, but I cannot. I am familiar with her songs, though, and have sang some as choir numbers and also solo (she did write "For What Earthly Reason," didn't she? Yes.

Does anyone know if Dottie's funeral will be shown via internet like Anthony's was? I would appreciate so much some info about it if possible. It's still so shocking to hear this happened.

The Dottie Rambo line that came to my mind is: Don't want nobody weepin' when I draw my final breath I'll fall asleep in the cradle of love and never feel the sting of death So say big Hallelujah 'cause I've finally reached my goal And I'm gonna leave here shoutin' when my time comes to go!

I found out on Sunday Afternoon. I got a text message from a friend asking me for info, then my sister got a call from a dear friend of ours making sure we knew. My sister and I didn't know Ms Dottie well, but the times we were around her we just fell in love with her. We loved Chris and Larry from the time we met them! We had kind of a "Dottie Tribute" Sunday night. I sang "Sheltered In The Arms Of God" (My fav song) with our choir, then Dad sang "He Looked Beyond My Fault (And Saw My Need)", then My Dad, Sister, and I sang "Build My Mansion (Next Door To Jesus)". I honestly had to try hard not to think about her while I sang, otherwise I don't think I could have gotten through my song. But we know she is with Jesus, and wouldn't trade that for anything... My prayers are with everyone else!!!

I have been reading the board for only a couple days now. I could not sit by any longer and not express my condolences to Ms. Dottie's family and to let the families of her staff on board know I am praying for them. I got to meet Ms. Dottie one time in Tuscaloosa, AL and she was so humble. I remember that day so vividly and will never forget it. She has and always will be an inspiration to me.

Just FYI...There has been a trust fund setup for the families involved to help accomidate them with motels and food. It can be very expensive to do it on your own. The fund is at Citizens National Bank in Springfield, Mo. It is the Larry Ferguson Fund. This information can be found on www.dottierambo.net as well as official press release soon to be out. They will be posting updates on the guys there too. Thanks for your prayers. This is my last post. All updates will come threw www.dottierambo.net

I was listening to JoyFM yesterday and they said there that Dottie Rambo had had over 2500 PUBLISHED songs. Yet, there was not one word of her passing in the main stream newspaper. How very sad. I was blessed to be in service with Dottie many years ago and the thing I remember was how as soon as she came onto the platform, she took off her shoes. She announced to everyone "I don't believe there will be shoes in Heaven!" and she proceded to melt our hearts. She was a special lady. May God be with her family. She will always live through her music!
