That would drive me nuts! I love family and all, don't get me wrong, but I like my privacy too. I keep thinking of "Everybody Loves Raymond". I can't imagine living next to another Marie. ;) But if they respected my privacy and such, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to live next to them, but not with them unless there was a good reason. I dunno...maybe I'm weird like that.

Even here in the US very affluent families do the same thing. Daddy has a mansion big enough to have all of his children live there and rarely see each other if they so choose. I remember in Hawaii we had a family like that at our church and when the oldest son got married he and his wife just picked the wing they wanted and lived there.

My cousin lives next door to his mother and it's great for them because if they need a babysitter the kids just run across the field to Nana and Popi's!

I can't watch it from work ... but just from the description, I think their girlfriends have rocks in their heads.

I could live with that.

And if they weren't another Marie (intrusive), I wouldn't mind living next door. It'd likely be convenient to all and would be a great support system for each other. When I was growing up, my grandparents lived 2 doors down. I loved it! Whenever my parents got on my nerves I'd run down the hill and hang out with my mamaw. I'm sure my parents didn't mind and I know my grandmother didn't either.

My MIL grew up in a 4 room house. There were her parents, Her paternal grandparents, six sisters and her. 10 people in one house. I can't imagine. They had thousands of acres but just the tiny little house. I don't get it. However, during the westward expansion here in America, Most families lived in one room cabins. Some had very large families in one room. I guess you do what you gotta do.

The "not living at your parents home" thing really is culturally American, and it is not necessarily a better way. However, I do believe this video raises two issues (one indirectly) that are serious societal problems. First (as woodwind pointed out) the men in this video are not contributing to their family despite the fact they have the money and time to be able to make a significant contribution; this is even more apparent in the full segment that aired a while back i.e. these men work at very good jobs and have very good saleries but use their money to indulge only in their own pleasures. Second, although not directly addressed in this video segment, the issue of "late" marriages is a reflection of a growing societal problem i.e. one of the primary reasons that people are delaying marriage (and living at home) is that they feel a greater freedom and have a greater opportunity to indulge in all of the "benefits" of marriage without making a commitment to anyone. The root of both of these problems is nothing other than selfishness i.e. a heart attitude that looks only to what it can get rather than what it can, and should, give to those around them. While these problems are exemplified by these "moma's boys", the problem is really a reflection of a much greater societal problem i.e. the symptoms of a society that is in rebellion towards God.

As a foreigner I sure agree with most of the commentary comming from the foreigners, at the video site. And I even find out that one of the Mamas Boy passed away. As the others Mama Boys, still not married.

Well, people all over the world are making choices everyday, reggarding procriation, babies, relationships, families, many matters in lawful (although to Biblical point of view but rebelious and sinful) and unlawful (still rebelious and sinful, Biblicaly). Nations have their sovereignty, people in democratic states are supposed to have better lives then those under dictartorship gov. as we can see how people are disregarded in Myramar, for exemple.

Still, what I see is many, many different nations and cultures and all give their good and bad contributions. All of them lack, one way or another. And now comes across my mind a Brasilian popular saying, that goes like this: "The dirty one talking about the poorly washed one". Well, I do think the Lord have the most perfect perspective from any other, of course. He gives the national and individual diagnostic as the cure! Praise the Lord, as we do and forever will.

Nations of the world

USA have enough domestic problems of their own to criticize the behaviour of a foreigner people and their culture. Let the Italians deal with their domestic Mamas Boys as - to me- the baby rates birth in Italy as the bahaviour of their males will bring no resolution to problems at USA homes. And problems in USA homes I see may not even be seen as problem to many dealing with those, but as a Christian, the huge rates the rebelious population in US, away from God, as we can see all over the place, do reflect in the ways Christians behaves as the huge amount of broken homes by divorce going on, single parents homes, abortions, pornography and many issues that reflects in family and individuals lives, it screem there are something wrong very much so, as some may preach God's ways and themselves do not live it, hipocresy. Hipocresy that pops up in late scandals behaviours of those who claim belong to conservative denominations, who may try to find fault in many others who themselves have glass ceilings. The judgment will start in the church, thank God.

As The Soveignty of God is above all and Himself already told us in His Word of Life that His blood will redeem People from every nation, tongue and tribe. As narrow is the door and the way that leads to salvation. Few compared with the amount of the population of the world will be saved. How ones finishes the race that is very crucial, and Glory to God about the workers that will come on the late hour!

As a foreigner I do find interesting how come a thread like this without any weight, in my view, can still go on and a thread so very meaninful, that Gayle openned about racism, it had to be closed the way it did . I do hope someday this foruns will reflect not just point of view of a handful from US but from many nations and tongues, to be just more balanced and realistic with what goes on.
