DwB37 -> Tony Alamo ministries?? (5/12/2008 5:53:04 PM)

Need I say more?
Well if you've never heard of this man then I guess I'd better.
Briefly-he has a nation-wide radio program and several churches worldwide. He is well over 70 years old now and has been an evangelist/preacher since sometime in the 60's,I believe.
But the strange part begins when you listen to all he has been through in his lifetime,as if Satan himself is out to get this guy, with help from MANY of his wicked "agents" here on earth,(or in our country at least).
And from some of the HUGE world organizations he has "exposed" as Anti-Christ centered,it doesn't surprise me that Satan would want him dead.
That is if he is doing a legitimate work in these cases?

Which is why I am asking here if anyone has any more in depth knowledge of this ministry, and more solid facts that could either confirm his right standing or expose him as a false teacher or "cult" as he has been called by many.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
DB

BTW-His name is pronounced "Alah-mo",different from the ALAMO in Texas. Even though he's headquarted in Texarkana, which is probably just a coincidence...i think?

With some very decent/doctrinally sound ministries out there.. I wouldn't waste my time with this guy.

DB... I wouldn't get too hung up over him or any other preacher. A lot of people get called "false prophets" and "false teachers" for reasons as multifarious as they themselves are. Take a look at this list.... A A Allen, Kathryn Kuhlman, John G. Lake, Oral Roberts, Benny Hinn, Robert Murdoch, Todd Bently... all of these people have one thing in common. Namely, just about the only time you hear anything about them, it is coming from people who hold them up as God's right hand, or the Devil's advocate. All have their quirks, all have their pet doctrines, but all of them would be able to show testimonies of people "who have been blessed" by their ministries (provided they were all alive).

There just doesn't seem to be much level-headed reasoning and moderation of opinion when it comes to stuff like this. Good financial mechanics does not a pure ministry make, just as how poor financial mechanics does not a charlatan create. Honestly the best opinion you will get on a ministry is your own... because it is the opinion you are going to respect the most. If you are having trouble formulating an opinion, ask God what He thinks. Since He is the only one that searches men's souls, He should know better than anyone.

I agree that that's a pathetic means of commending any preacher or group. Hundreds of thousands would testify they "have been blessed" by Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses. Many would confess (or would have testified) they "have been blessed" by Jim Jones or David Koresh. Millions would have (and still might) testify that they "have been blessed" by Jim Bakker. But even an elementary level understanding of scriptures should warn us when such individuals or groups misrepresent Truth.

I could not have said it better, Jimbo.

A A Allen (FALSE TEACHER)
Kathryn Kuhlman (FALSE TEACHER)
Oral Roberts (FALSE TEACHER)
Benny Hinn (TOOL OF SATAN)
Todd Bently(FALSE TEACHER)...

I will add "documented" to the list

And we never want something as petty as DOCTRINE to get in the way of going after "the anointing"

Well I don't know Mr. Alamo, never heard of him, and don't particularly want to hear about him.

But here is a news flash; Satan himself and his wicked "Agents" are out to get all of us. And if you do not believe that; then you are in for a bumpy ride.

It would seem to me that the evil one's main target would be those who challenge his ministers of darkness that appear as angel of light; and guess who is the numer one challenger on this site.

That would be you my friend; so you better duck. [:)]

Your statement flatters me! All praise to Jesus! [:)]

........................ as I said, people in the charismatic moement get called all kinds of names for all kinds of reasons. As I also said, there is a severe lack of moderation of opinion in relation to discussion surrounding these people.

DwB, the best advice you will get is what comes from you and God. My general rule of thumb, give no man an open pass to your mind, but don't shut off everyone that you disagree with either. I tend to learn the most from the people I agree with least.

I'm not positive, but I think among Alamo's other false teachings, he also "MAY" be a polygamist.

In the late 70's or early 80's he had is deceased wife entombed in an "aquarium" of alcohol because she was supposed to be resurrected. She never rose.

He also made the news a couple of years ago in I think Fouke Ar where he has a temple. Seems he felt he own the public street his temple was on, and had armed gaurds accosting people driving past the building.
