ORIGINAL: Jhud The war, the economy, the utter failure in the last few years of the Republican congress to deal substantively with those issues and maintian a budget, the inherent American desire for change when we are feeling blue, even if such change will not change anything. Those are all factors. Wow. I think we agree. I will say that if the Republican party gets back to its core values of fiscal responsibility, speaking softly and carrying a big stick on foreign policy, and comes up with some sort of long-term energy and environmental policy, they'd be winning elections in landslides. quote:
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce the 44th President of the United States ..... Barack Obama I think this is a little early. I generally consider myself a Democrat and voted Dem about 75% of the time in the past two elections, but McCain has a lot of cross-party appeal, and I haven't made a decision on who to vote for, yet. If McCain can convince me he'll be better at fixing our budget and energy issues than Obama, that would pretty much tip the scales in his favor. While I am concerned about McCain's frightening responses when he doesn't get his way- and what that means in terms of potential wars with China or Iran- this is mostly offset by the issues that I am sure certain off-topic posters will start dragging us through soon- as they do on any political discussion that involves liberals.
