I righted that immediately!  
In iTunes, go to Edit >> Preferences >> Advanced >> Importing. On the "Import Using" drop down menu, pick "MP3 Encoder." Then select whatever bitrate you like.
As for songs that have already been imported in AAC, once this setting is in place, it's easy to convert them to mp3.
1. Click on the first song in the album with your mouse.
2. Press the shift key and the down arrow until you've selected the album.
3. Right-click in the songs list and select "Convert Selection to mp3" from the drop-down menu.
Then, to delete the old mp3, click them once and press the delete button.

Rule of Thumb:
Universal standards trump proprietary standards every time.
In other words, don't use RealPlayer, WMP, iTunes, etc. formats, because MP3 works on all these platforms and more.

This usually works.
If it does not, dump the songs to a blank disc and then import them back to itunes. They are now imported as mp3 files.

Hey I posted this in post #9.....but Daniel Mount got all the credit ....same info in his post #26....17 posts later...so I'm not gonna tell you how to copy protected files...maybe Daniel will
