L5FanLady -> iTunes Questions... (5/14/2008 9:31:07 PM)

1. Why can't I edit a song title or other info in iTunes like I can in WMP?

2. I have a cheap little 1GB MP3 player. Can I sync to that device from iTunes seeing I don't have an iPod?

3. So exactly how do I "drag album artwork here"?[8|]

Stay tuned. I'm sure I'll remember the other questions soon![8D]

utilityfielder -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/14/2008 10:03:30 PM)

Tina, ITunes may have some proprietary software to prevent that.

Mrmusicfan -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/14/2008 10:19:41 PM)

About inquiry number 1... Pretty much all you have to do regarding editing songs is to right click and choose "Get Info". With this, you can include album artwork which may be added if you have a thumbnail of the artwork saved on your pc. You can also add songwriters info,release date,album/album artist,choose the genre,etc. About the artwork-the way I get artwork is to go to a SG artist's website and visit their product page/store. You should right click and choose to save the picture...it's pretty simple from there on...

I'm not sure about putting music to another mp3 player in Itunes...

BTW-does anyone know how I can stop Itunes from making every song fade off when going to the next song? It's really annoying sometimes..

1. Why can't I edit a song title or other info in iTunes like I can in WMP?

Click the song, and hit F2. Or, right click on the song, and hit "Get Info"

2. I have a cheap little 1GB MP3 player. Can I sync to that device from iTunes seeing I don't have an iPod?

Good Question, probably not.

3. So exactly how do I "drag album artwork here"?[8|]

Find album artwork on a website, like www.SGHistory.com (shameless plug), then literally click on the picture, drag the mouse down to the iTunes button at the bottom, then move the mouse to the "drag album artwork here" spot. I think it will apply the album art to all of the albums with the same artist/name that way. Don't quote me on the last part.

Stay tuned. I'm sure I'll remember the other questions soon![8D]

We must have cross-posted. Anyway, to answer your question go to: Edit -> Preferences -> Playback, then uncheck the first box, which is "Crossfade". Should solve the problem.

thanks,musicnerd!!! It's greatly appreciated!

L5FanLady -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/15/2008 3:44:25 AM)

WOW! Thanks! The F2 button is the answer to my most annoying problem!![:D]

L5FanLady -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/15/2008 8:58:43 PM)

Hey, musicnerd, I found all the album artwork I needed on your site. Thanks!![:)][:D]

I can scan and send you the CD cover pics for a couple of Roger Bennett's solo recordings, if you like...[;)]

88keysinnc -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 7:58:41 AM)

Go to itunes.

In right hand corner, click edit then preferences.

Next, click advanced then importing

drop down menu beside import using, choose mp3 encoder

Click ok

In your itunes library, right-click beside the song title then choose convert to mp3

This usually works.

If it does not, dump the songs to a blank disc and then import them back to itunes. They are now imported as mp3 files.

Good luck.

By the way....Do yourself a favor and invest in a iPod. These are far more user-friendly than most other brands.

A Zune is good too. What I dislike about itunes is that if you purchase from itunes, you can't play it on any other device. That really annoys me as hubby has an ipod and I have a zune. Anyway, the songs I have purchased on the Zune software can be loaded on other things.

Have your hubby burn you a cd with music purchased from iTunes and then import that CD into the software you use for your Zune.

I am sorta OCD about having the album cover and all, though. I don't think it works when you burn a CD. Or are we doing it wrong?

AdamEdwards -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 9:58:15 AM)

You're right, the artwork doesn't travel with a burned CD. You could probably find the artwork on other sites besides iTunes. Amazon has a ton of artwork. If all else fails, you could make a print screen of the artwork in iTunes and use photo editing software to crop it for your player. I'm an artwork junkie too.....I can't stand it when I have a project in my digital library without it.

MattPaasch -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 11:25:37 AM)

As for question number two.....

You're right... iTunes doesn't work with any other mp3 players besides iPods, but there is a way around that.

You make a playlist of your favorite Songs

You can open the mp3 player's folder (or get into it with realplayer or windows media player)

Select all the songs from your playlist in iTunes, and drag and drop them in the folder (or program)

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 11:46:08 AM)

Find the files on your computer, and drag and drop the containing folder (or the selection of songs) into the iTunes window. (Be sure that under your preferences>Advanced>General that you have 'copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' selected) It should then add the mp3s to your iTunes library! (On Windows, iTunes will even convert wma files to mp3s when you add them this way)

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 12:19:12 PM)

thanks Matt. some of my fave songs wouldnt convert and I can't drive 1500 miles without hearing Paynes sing I'll Lay My Crown[:)]

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 12:33:56 PM)

that will be convert selection to AAC?

L5FanLady -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 2:26:16 PM)

You know what also works to edit the song title/artist/writer info? First right click but don't select anything, then left click on the title, and it will go automatically to edit. You can then either edit title or tab over to the other info that needs editing.[:)]

One [:@] about iTunes is.....it will take songs from WMP or RealPlayer, but you can't extract a single song from iTunes unless you (like Adam said) burn it to a CD and reload it to the other programs![:@][8|]

Actually, that's not true. You can tell iTunes to import everything as mp3s instead of AAC files. If you do that, you can play them just about anywhere. Would you like me to elaborate?

(Depending on when you post and when I post, I might not be able to reply till tomorrow.)

It automatically converts it to AAC (what does that stand for, anyway?). Well, I guess you could tell me how to "tell" it that. I will experiment at it too, and post my outcome here.[;)]

AdamEdwards -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 2:52:47 PM)

Actually, I was talking about music purchased from iTunes, not CDs that you've ripped. If you want to rip CDs as mp3s then click on Edit > Preferences > Advanced Tab > Importing Tab and change the "Import Using" option to mp3 encoder.

AdamEdwards -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 2:54:18 PM)

Oh yeah....be sure to change the 'Setting' option to custom and select the highest bitrate possible (320).

L5FanLady -> RE: iTunes Questions... (5/16/2008 3:01:02 PM)

Well, I tried a little bit at it, Daniel, and was unsuccessful thus far.[8|][&:]

How embarrassing![:o] I, the L5 FAN LADY, did not have A Little Taste of Heaven even on my iTunes or WMP!!![X(]

I righted that immediately![;)][:D]
