Can you give a clear verse that indicates that modern Israel being formed in 1948 was fulfillment of prophecy?
Incidentally, it's been said that prophetic cycles usually go in 40 years, so therefore, at least two possible 40 year cycles have come and gone. 1948-1988. 1967-2007. I suppose the next cycle would be 1973-2013. We'll see.
Can't rely on dates and newspaper prophecy. Only a proper interpretation of God's Word.

Ha! Ha! That's a good one! How does one "reign with Christ (the Messiah, by the way) along with the children of God" and not reign over someone?! What does that look like? What would be the point???!!!! Hasn't that thought ever bothered you about that position? It bothered me when I used to hold that position!
Let the Scriptures speak for themselves:
Ezek 34:23-31
23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

And, why not? You ASSUME there will be no other than God's children around to judge! That's a BIG assumption and one that doesn't hold to the Scriptures, even in the book of Revelation! Read it carefully! The "no more"s APPLY TO THE NEW JERUSALEM! They do NOT apply to the whole of the New Earth!
For instance, just as the New Jerusalem had no more need of the sun or the moon, does NOT mean that the whole New Earth won't need them! To the contrary, we have other passages that tell us that the sun and moon will still be around for the New Earth and will be around FOREVER!
Read Isaish chapters 60 through 66! You will gain a glimpse into a New Earth that is QUITE different than that portrayed in modern eschatologies! STICK TO THE SCRIPTURES!!! Theology, especially eschatology, should be dictated by the Scriptures, not the other way around!

Of course they struck first! That is a battle strategy that God has not only commended in Isra'el's past but has also INSTRUCTED! So what if they struck first?
Ever see the old episodes of "Happy Days" with Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) and the Fonz (Henry Winkler)? Once Richie was going to fight a bully twice his size. What was the Fonz's advice? His advice was to strike first while the bully was still taking off his jacket! Richie asked, "Will I win that way?" The Fonz just said, "No, he's going to kill ya', but at least you'll get in one good shot first!"
If you're the underdog, sometimes it's the smartest thing to do to take the initiative and catch the enemy with his pants down! Nothing wrong with that when you know good and well that the enemy means to murder you!

You're right again! Yes, I believe that God protected His people through the days of the Zionist movement to create a state of Isra'el. However, I find it interesting to note that there will be a SECOND gathering of the people of the Land:
Isa 11:10-13
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

When Yeshua` Himself shall be reigning from His ancestor Daviyd's throne in Yerushalayim, Isra'el, then HE will call for His people, and a great ALIYAH will occur...AGAIN! Here's another good passage about that:
Isa 49:22-26
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
