Just talked to Emily on the phone. She is having internet difficulties so she can't post right now, but she said to say thanks for all the prayers. David is doing good...trying to nurse all the time (he likes to suck and everyone is telling her opposite information, so that's a bit overwhelming). He seems to be doing good at getting her milk to come in though...she said it has started coming in today and his diapers prove that too...so that's good. He is waking often, but seems to be very tired too...laid back baby. (He started crying on the phone, and he sounds soooo cute!!!!! I can't wait to hear that sound around here again).
She also said that her sister (I think that's who it was) tried to put some pics online but with the internet problems she can't get on to get a link posted...she will try to get that done soon though.

David's first pediatrician check up is tomorrow...so she is a bit nervous about leaving the house with him for the first time, but I am sure they will do just fine.

Physically she is in a lot of pain. Chris is off until tuesday, then her mom will be around to help out. David got stuck coming out (his chest was HUGE..I think she said 15in.), and she ripped pretty bad. She also had some prolapse issues and they had to tack her back up in there...so she has six internal stitches. She also had some BP issues after he was born and ended up with it going so low that she passed out. She is doing better...slowly...but sounded very tired. Pretty quick labor (6 hours), but she pushed for a long time...and that along with his getting stuck just took it's toll on her body.

Anyway...she will check in when she can when their internet is back up and running. She appreciates all the prayers.

Thanks for the update Sarah. Do you know if she had to go to the hospital to get stitched up, or was the midwife able to take care of that?

Thanks, Sarah. It sounds like she ended up in the hospital at least for a bit or could they do the tacking up at home??

yeah I was surprised she didn't because of all the complications. David wasn't breathing when he was born (didn't breathe until he was about 3 minutes old, but she said they told her later that the cord was still attached and pulsing so that was good that they were smart enough to leave that alone until he was breathing). So between the two of them I was really shocked she didn't have to go to the hospital...but she didn't.

Oh and she said one good thing about having such a HUGE baby is that she has already lost a good 20lb....lol

I had a lot of complications with my first homebirth too, so I can sympathize. He was really stuck, too, and they had to give him oxygen. I didn't tear, though. The midwives were able to handle it, but they were on the verge of tranporting me.

My second child didn't fit in any of her newborn clothes, either.

I can so empathize with you on the getting stuck part. Ugh. But when it's your first I'm sure it's even worse - because nothing's been stretched out before!

Praying for your recovery!

Thanks for the update Sarah. I'm glad they didn't have to pick up and go to the hospital after the birth. Nice that it could all be taken care of at home!
