Me and my friend were talking together after school and our bus was running really late so we were all just hanging out. after a little while we over heard one of our friends teasing us saying ya they would make a good couple, while looking at use and smiling. we both said what and went over to her. billy said "you better be careful because I know where you sleep." Then I had to say, "Ya we can grab all of billy's automatic and semi automatic guns and go shoot ya." In a real playfully manner. she new we were teasing but the principle took it differently. well i got into trouble for terrorist threatening. when i got home i got in trouble for it. then i was told not to talk to hear any because the school had to tell the police because it was a rule. so a lawyer told me not to talk to hear because it can get me in more trouble, and my parents also agreed with him.

That night i prayed and asked god to show me the path that i should take. after i got done praying i found this one christian TV channel so i decided to watch it. almost immediately after i turned it on the preacher said "ask for forgiveness for what you have done to others, even from your enemy's, ask for forgiveness and then from there the rest will be laid down for you."

The next day when i got on the bus i told her sorry and she said she did not care. the next thing i know is that the bus driver and about ten other people are having a small bible study group together about verses in the bible and what someone from the bible might do in my shoes, ON THE BUS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD[/b]

When i got home i told my parents the hole story starting from when i started to pray. my mom was amazed, but my step-dad said that it was the wrong choice and that now if i go to court for this then i am not going to get a lawyer because i disobeyed him and the lawyer. I told him that's fine because god has shone me the path that i must walk and he got mad and said that it was the wrong path and that god did not show me the path...
HELP???

Was it the right path or the wrong path???

well first off..I can't see how this could be as you said "terrorist threatening" if you were playfully joking around....of course you chose the wrong joke at the wrong time.
of course you defiantely did the right thing for praying to God for forgivness. God forgives you now...so really the situation is now between you, your step father and your principle, and everybody else.
so you are forgiven its just unfornately you may have to suffer some consequences...they may be fair or they may not

this is ridiculous.

and no you wont go to jail. ive never heard of a 14 year old going to jail because they used the word gun.

It's not that ridiculous... not with the way things are now in America. People have to take everything seriously. Jokes nowadays can't always be seen that way, and we have to be wiser with what we say. If someone says they can go shoot someone, joking or not, we don't know which it is. We take it as a threat (or can take it that way).

I don't think it's because he used the word "gun." It's because of WHAT he said.

I think you should just pray for wisdom and and an easy "sentence." I can't see them putting you in jail though. I think it'll turn out okay in the end.

I think you know what God tells you. I can't say what's wrong and what's right in your case. Just make sure that whatever you hear IS God and not something else.

People have two choices. They can say what they want (kidding or not), and take the potential consequences... or they can just not say it. You can't get away with saying things nowadays in the USA that you might have been able to say in jest a few decades ago. (That was to the poster above me, not to you biblewarrior.) The law isn't weird; I think it's more in response to all of these tragedies here... think about all the school shootings and stabbings. People have to be catious nowadays.

Nobody knows who's kidding and who's not, and if you mistake one for the other, it might be a deady mistake if you knew about the "threat."

i know the "reasoning" behind it but it doesnt change anything. people die, whether its from 40 year olds, or 15 year olds or a lightning bolt. and if there is a reason that there are more such shootings and such in the US then maybe they should change something else instead of making a law against.. joking.

and well.. you never know anything really. thats why we mostly play out our lives according to probablities. and according to that the person shouldnt think that the OP was gonna go psycho on him/her. i mean that person is the OP's classmate, not some random stranger that the OP found on the street and went and threatened him

There are students who have been hurt after their classmate that they knew threatened them. [8|] At least, in America this has happened. With the school shootings and stabbings that have been going on, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Some things you don't know about, but if someone makes a verbal threat to another perseon, that's something we do know and can report. Just because you know someone doesn't mean they won't hurt you.

Things are 0 tolerance right now. I know someone who lost his job for jokingly saying that sometimes he wants to kill his wife. (He wasn't being serious; I think she'd been irritating him.) Zero tolerance means zero. If you choose to say something like that, you need to take the consequences. This is the state that we're in at the moment.

I don't think you'll go to jail, biblewarrior. I can't really say what the right thing for you is though; only you and God know that.

Path...what paths...? Talking to the girl you were told not to talk to? Please....If this girl is your friend and she can't forgive you for a 'joke' then who needs her anyway? You apologized, you've done your part. That was the right thing to do. Lawyers and principles can't tell you not to talk to someone unless there is a restraining order against you, and if the girl has asked you not to talk to her. And praying about it was a very good thing to do.

However I'm surprised that you didn't know that that sort of joke is considered sensitive in this country because of all the shootings happening even in the last few years.

Moral of the story is that you don't joke around with sensitive topics in public. You can joke, just be careful about the when, where, and what and you'll save yourself a lot of unnecessary trouble.

I don't see threatening as regular talking, but that's just me. Classmate or not. It doesn't matter much if you're prepared to take whatever punishment your threats may cause though; people nowadays here should know that zero tolerance means zero tolerance. People can say what they want...but they might pay for it. Then that choice is up to them.

I don't really think it's cool to go around threatening people anyway. I'm glad to see that the law doesn't either.

I understand people make mistakes, and I think that's why the OP won't have a cruel punishment.

When I was in 10th grade (mind you, this is in October 2001), I was expelled from school and put through the legal system for similar comments. Funny thing was, I said it on the internet, at home... and someone printed it out and brought it to school a month later. Thankfully, I got in another school and all that jazz. Your sense of humor seems much like mine was. While I felt that my comments were very innocent, there are too many sick people who actually would do things that you and I would only joke about (and joke about only because we know it's absurd...). Obviously, you've heard this many times.

I think you did the right thing, no matter what happens in the legal system. It can be used against you, as anything you say can be. I don't think that changes the fact that you did the right thing in apologizing. The right thing is not equal to the best thing you could do to help yourself in court.

wow, that's gotta be a really annoying situation.

um...yea a lot of the things that have been going on in America have caused this, so I think that it's good to an extent, but sometimes it can be carried away...

I think you did make the right decision concerning this. It was good that you prayed about it. God tells us to pray about all things in all situations. I know that sometimes we are discouraged and filled with doubt when we hear from God. Satan uses whatever he can to make us doubt. But stand on the promises that God laid out for us. The ones that are in his Word. They are there for our benefit, use them. They give us encouragement. =]

I'll be praying for you.

This is biblewarrior14's mom.

I would just like to let everyone know that this turned out really well for all involved.

Although my son went against what we told him to do, and although I was upset with him for it initially, I am also proud of him.

The reason I am proud of him, is because against all odds, and everyones opposition, he still stuck up for what he believed was right. What was right to him and what was right in the sight of the Lord.

He was willing to take whatever concequences were given him because he knew that appologizing to his friend and classmate was the right thing to do.

That is something that many adults can't even do, including myself.

The Lord has taught me through this incident, that I may not always be there to control the situation, but I don't need to be because that is the Lord's job, not mine. He has taught me, through my son, that I need to be ready, at all times, to stand up for what I believe in no matter what the concequences.

The Lord has truely blessed me with a great lesson I needed to learn and the best son a mom could have. I wouldn't trade this for a million dollars.

The Lord is Awsome, isn't He?!?!?!!
