We had a thread on this last year but I couldn't find it so I thought I would start it again. How many different artists, and how many projects from each, do you have in your SG collection? What is your total number of CD's, LP's, Cassettes, and 8-Tracks? I usually keep a running total on a microsoft word document and I try to update it everytime I get another project. This does not include DVD's or Videos. Here is my list of projects, in alphabetical order. The number to the right of the artist is how many projects I have for that particular artist. Aaron Wilburn (2) Ben Scroggs (2) Bill Gaither Trio (1) Bishops (2) Blackwood Brothers (51) Blue Ridge Quartet (3) Brian Free And Assurance (4) Called Out Quartet (2) Cathedral Quartet (58) Chuck Wagon Gang (4) Crabb Family (1) Dixie Echoes (2) Dixie Melody Boys (13) Downings (1) Ernie Haase and Signature Sound (2) Florida Boys (6) Gabbards (2) Gaither Vocal Band (5) Gerald Wolfe (2) Glen Payne (1) Gold City (2) Gospel Mariners Quartet (1) Greater Vision (18) Happy Goodmans (1) Hinsons (2) Imperials (1) Inheritance (2) Isaacs (3) Jimmie Davis (3) Karen Peck and New River (3) Ken Turner (2) Kingsmen Quartet (2) LeFevres (2) Legacy Five (15) Mark Bishop (2) Mark Trammell Trio (2) Old Fashioned Revival Hour Quartet (1) Pat Hoffmaster (1) Perrys (2) Plainsmen (1) Primitive Quartet (1) Rebels (1) Roger Bennett (2) Sego Brothers & Naomi (2) Speers (1) Squire Parsons (2) Statesmen (5) Stamps (2) Thrasher Brothers (1) Tim Lovelace (3) Tim Parton (1) Triumphant Quartet (3) Various Artists Compilations (6) 53 artists, 263 projects

can I get back to you? if wasn't SG would be easy. George Jones -- 117 albums, Johnny Cash--- 57 albums, Elvis Presley -- 75 albums, then all others fall under that. CCM would be Petra and Acappella complete discographies. SG though, have to count. good idea on the list and update it

The interesting thing on my list is that I have more than fifty each for the Cathedrals and the Blackwood Brothers. I am within striking distance of completing the Cathedrals discography (20 or so), but I only have about one-third of the Blackwoods discography. The oldest project in my collection is Hymn Sing by the Blackwoods from 1956. It still sounds brand new too!

I will be picking them up when I drive through next week. SG I guess Crabb Family is most I have. 11 of their cd's. then Kingdom Heirs then Paynes, TQ, Gold City, Booth Brothers and Dove Brothers and Crossway all about same number of projects cd wise. lp. I am not sure. been long time since went through. oh and forgot about Hoppers and Freeman's and Greene's. all those groups own at least 3 cd's of

When looking for LP's I go to music, then religious, then 33 rpm. Once it is narrowed to that point I usually look at the ones expiring in the next couple of hours. Then I will do searches for specific artists like the Cathedral Quartet, Blackwood Brothers, Florida Boys, or Statesmen. The best finds are the ones that offer "lots" of records. I've gotten lots of 20 gospel LP's by various artists for less than $5. Not all of them are SG but several usually are. Sometimes you can hit the jackpot on those. On one lot I got projects from the Downings, Sego Brothers & Naomi, Thrasher Brothers, Blackwood Brothers, Rebels, LeFevres, and Statesmen. I got that one for $3.15 because nobody else bid on it!

This is a great thread, but i'm not prepared! lol. Im so disorganized right now, after i get everything put in its place, i can get a count. I've been slacking at my organization of my projects. I can tell you one thing. I would bet the farm on the fact that i'm real sure that i have a bigger Kingsmen collection than anyone here, or darn near close. Edit, after i read this, it looked like i'm bragging , i'm not saying this in a bad way, please forgive me if i sounded snobby in this statement.

I keep saying that I want to start a spreadsheet listing all of the ones I have, but I haven't done it yet. I'm sure it would take at least an hour or two to get it together, so I won't be posting my list anytime real soon! I will say that I have all of the Triumphant Quartet CD's and DVD's including the solo albums from each of the guys. I have a whole lot of Legacy Five and Greater Vision and Booth Brothers including CD's and DVD's. I have several (at least 5 or 6) from Ivan Parker, Gold City, Mark Trammell Trio, Dixie Echoes, Gaither Vocal Band, and Brian Free & Assurance. I probably have from 1-4 CDs from a whole bunch of other artists.

I created an album catalog (excel spreadsheet) of my entire Southern Gospel music collection that lists artist/album name/record label/year/total song count. My collection is just shy of 1,800 albums.
