In moving over to the new forum, we lost the old "I Just Saw..." thread, so here's a new one.

rynthetyn -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 2:39:50 AM)

To get us started, last night I watched the old Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much" it's not his best work but it's the film that made him famous and it's pretty entertaining.

KarenElissaB -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 2:43:12 AM)

I just got "Anna and the King." It is a remake of "The King and I" (which I haven't seen). I think it is a cute movie with a good message about relating to other cultures.

bananaboy -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 10:25:31 AM)

Just watched "Lord of the flies". No i didn't want to see it, i was forced by my inferior teacher.

miasma -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 11:13:57 AM)

Lord of the Flies the first one? It's pretty good, but, of course not as good as the book.

sadiebelle -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 11:41:16 AM)

At Christianity.com, we had one called "Movie Tab". I posted it here awhile back...looks like we'll have some segregation of forums as far as the "I Just Saw..." thing goes. Unless we can somehow blend the two???[&:]

I just saw Motorcycle Diaries. It was a pretty good movie, beautiful scenery in the movie. Its about a cross country trek that Che Guerrva (sp?) took with a friend of his in South America. This shows him as being a very compassionate man and maybe how the roots began for his revolutionary life.

bananaboy -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/12/2005 4:04:23 PM)

Yah the first one. The plot is pathetic as there actually is none, some people on an island, and they're supposed to be in a critical situation? There are thousands of people living in colonies on small islands all over Oceania.

Assuming we're talking about the same movie, where the school boys are marooned on the island - people living on small islands in communities isn't the same as children being stranded with no supplies, adult supervision...the subtleties and metaphors of the plot I guess is what you're studying in school...

I love that film. It could have been a communist propaganda piece, but it wasn't. Given the political climate and that the only options that were floating around for change were various forms of Marxism (either straight Marxism or Liberation theology), you can understand how a guy that saw the level of injustice that existed in most of South America would end up a Marxist revolutionary. If it was today, he probably would have come to a different conclusion.

In theatres: Sin City.
At home: Wagons East.

Both were pretty good, in my mind.

SaranadeMe -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 3:17:05 AM)

Big Fish about a week or so ago and actually enjoyed it more than I thought. The previews made it look a little too bizarre but it turned out to be quite a sweet and touching movie.

GrahamCracker -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 7:18:43 AM)

We just saw Sahara the other night.

jodavi -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 11:12:24 AM)

'finally saw Ray. Jamie Foxx was great but I thought the movie was a bit long. I would have love to see more of when he was growing up with his mother.

mojo -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 2:02:14 PM)

I saw Ocean's 12 last night... it was a hilarious movie.

Praedulcise -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 7:24:32 PM)

My dad bought Ocean's 12 last night. I saw it in theatres, but I'm looking forward to seeing it with the padre, since he hasn't viewed it yet.

Oh, I forgot...my pal and I saw Young Frankenstein just a day or two ago. I have to say, that movie never gets old.

Thom_the_Tank -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 8:59:49 PM)

Im watching Bowling For Columbine right now in my English 4 class. I really like this movie, much better then Fahrenheit 9/11 I think.

chrioniXA -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/13/2005 11:02:54 PM)

Just saw Phantom of the Opera. I liked the stage version better, but the movie was good too.

whisper -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/14/2005 12:07:41 AM)

I also just saw The Phantom of the Opera- I have never seen the stage version but I thought the film was FANTASTIC!

Wow, I loooveee that music!

onfire4Gzus -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/14/2005 10:02:30 AM)

I just saw Finding Nemo in Spanish. I am in spanish class and we watched it in spanish. quite confusing.

miasma -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/14/2005 11:47:59 AM)

Bowling for Columbine has some skewed statistics and "creative" editing. There was a campaign to revoke his Oscar, because it's not a true documentary (never mind the misinformation).

Faun_Tumnus -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/14/2005 3:32:41 PM)

[:)] Just found an old made-for-TV series called The Lawrenceville Stories at the library - I hadn't seen it since I was in high school. Excellent family friendly entertainment - and it's funny to see a very young Stephen Baldwin & Dave Foley co-starring in it.

It's about boys in a boarding school back in 1905 - and all their hi-jinks.

If you can find it someplace, I recommend it highly.

rynthetyn -> RE: I Just Saw... (4/15/2005 1:20:18 AM)

I watched Fever Pitch, and despite not really likeing either Jimmy Fallon or Drew Barrymore, it was actually quite funny--funnier than I expected. I identified with Fallon's obsessive fan character much more than Drew Barrymore's character, but then, I'm the one who walked up to the box office window the day of the first game of the Stanley Cup finals, asked if they happened to have any available tickets, and was like "$200 a pop? Standing room only? *thinks for a minute about having said years before that I would do what it took if the Lightning ever went to the finals* Sure, give me 2 tickets".
