Tammy did you have any warning? Or just woooooosh and there it was?

Nope, no warning. I'm pretty sure it always happened when I was in a really light sleep. It's an interesting way to wake up that's for sure.

Ok, I voted girl! Just because everytime I *hear* Kim refer to June Bug I always just think girl and besides there's been and will be lots of blue, I think we need some more pink !

I'm so looking forward to hearing about your home water-birth, so then you can give me some pointers on what to expect for mine !

*grins* Thanks, Scarlett!! I'm pretty excited about my labour/birth! (Just not before Wednesday!).

TMI ALERT:

I'm having a significant increase in vaginal discharge - just a lot more wetness than I've had in a long, long time. Anybody else experience this in late pregnancy?

Well that was terrifying

I went for my appointment and all was well - I've gained 34 lbs, urine was negative for protein/sugar, fundal height measured 38 - all good. Until they got out the doppler. Baby's heartrate was in the 80's!!!!

They had me on my back at that point, so had me roll onto my side. They were taking my pulse at the same time, and it seemed like it was mine, but it was a bit off, so they kept the doppler on, and baby's heart rebounded into the 150's. They listened for about 5 minutes and there were no more decelerations. If there was any sign of issues, they were going to send me straight for a NST, but my midwife said since there were no other indications of an issue, the NST can't really tell us anything more than listening for a while could. So anyways, best we figure is June Bug either had decrease blood flow because I was on my back, or maybe he/she rolled on the cord and compressed it. My m/w said this *could* cause baby to pass meconium, so we'd have to keep an eye out for that - if I've got meconium staining that would mean no homebirth for me .

My BP was fine - my systolic was high because they hadn't taken it before doing the assessment - so it was 124/72 ... still quite normal.

So now I'm sitting here scared that my little one's not doing okay . I know June Bug *is* ... I could hear the heartrate come back up and stay up just fine, but it's still scary.

Oh, and ladies, can I ask for some special prayer? Brad's mom is going in for brain surgery tomorrow (it's non-cancerous and we've known about the tumour for a while, but she just got given a surgery date last week). It starts at 9:00 AM. I've also got my Registered Nurse exam tomorrow - so it's a pretty big/stressful day for us!

Kim, can you ask for a BPP? Gabby's heart rate did the same thing because of her cord knot

Kim did she give you any signs to watch for? Or any other instructions? Geez that would freak me out.

Kim, is it possible that they were getting your hb and not the baby's? That has happened to me before, and the fact that baby's hb stayed at a good level once you were on your side could show that the first hb wasn't even the baby's. Scary, I'm sure...but your description sounds exactly like what happened to me before and I know for sure it was my heartbeat, not the baby's.

Praying for your test tomorrow and MIL's surgery.

I'm sure I could, but I don't feel like I need one.

We'd gone over fetal movement monitoring and stuff earlier in the visit. My midwife was quite content with just listening for a few minutes. She said that it's a good thing we don't walk around with monitors on throughout our whole pregnancies because she's sure we'd hear a heck of a lot more stuff like that! I trust her and feel confident that if she believed June Bug was in any danger, she would not have hesitated to say so. June Bug seems happy in there now, moving around, so I'm feeling a bit better!!

My immediate thought was, "My goodness, I cannot have this baby today. I don't want a c-section."

That is a great idea if you have any worries at all. Good thinking, Ryanne!

Yeah - if I continue to be worried, I won't hesitate to ask for a NST or BPP! Thanks for reminding me of that option, Rye.

Kim, did you track movement with the heart rate? That's one of the bigger things that the NST does and was what Gabby came close to "failing" several times.

Oh, not a problem. I just have paranoia about cord knots now.

June Bug wasn't doing much movement while they were listening. Last week at my home visit though, they heard a REALLY good acceleration when he/she was kicking, though It was really neat to hear! My m/w said that there was good variability, anyhow, although they obviously can't get a fantastic reading without the print-out and other stuff. Like I said, she seemed more than reassured, and she's a pretty conservative m/w ... if I'm still concerned, I'll be paging her

Kim- glad things are okay. Sounds like you have enough things to worry about over the next couple of days. Keep reminding yourself of various verses(Prov. 3:5-6, Matt. 6:34) that talk about where to place your trust and concerns. God has everything in his control (easier said than done I am sure )

Kim, when I was pregnant with Nadia and had my big u/s with her, her heart was at like 80. Then, like shifting gears, went up to normal. I freaked out. They sent me for a level II u/s. Checked out the heart and so forth, it was fine. The tech said that this is so common for her to see, that when she does see it upon examining the heart, she just moves on to another part, checks that out and comes back. She even said, I think, that it happened to her son in utero. It is very common. Don't know why it happens, but it does. Nadia is a very healthy, ornery 2 year old!

KIM! Your due date is so soon!!! I can't wait for you to go into labour!!!!!!!!!!

My NST with Mary was scheduled during when she usually slept and she moved once (that I felt) in the entire 20 minutes I was there. They wanted me to do some other tests and an ultrasound to check on her but I knew she was fine, just sleeping.
