It has been a classic match up between great teams...primarily in the Western Conference. I am a San Antonio Spurs fan. Right now, my team is in an incredibly difficult situation which very few have over come. Although just a short time ago, the Spurs did claw themselves out of a 0-2 hole and win the New Orleans series, such a task is so difficult, to try and do so twice in the same post season may be tempting fate. Boston & Detroit are putting on a show of power (the only powers) in the Eastern Conference. No matter what the outcome, this will be a series not long forgotten. Many people doubt the Spurs. Some even go to the extreme and say that they hate the San Antonio Spurs. They say their dirty...I say they play old school ball. They say their boring...I say their true role models. I know they are in a very hard place right now, but I believe. I have to. The Spurs symbolize the working man. Life is not about glamour, fame, arrogance and entitlement. Just as I have all my life, this team truly works for all that they have achieved. So many people want to see the Lakers win this series because they are not "boring", play an exciting version of basketball, and more than anything entertain those seeking entertainment. Kobe Bryant is in my opinion the 2nd best ball player of all time...right behind Michael Jordan. However, he is a very arrogant person. Very cocky, and feels that because who he is, he is entitled to win all the time. When his team hit rock bottom, his true colors were shown when he made a classless move and demanded a trade publicly criticizing his own organization, management and even one of his team-mates. (Andrew Bynum). I believe strongly in this scripture: Luke 14:11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." The Spurs are a team that is truly team oriented. They are selfless, and work as one unit. Not just the players, but the coaches and owners as well. They are truly humble and care not for their own egos or accomplishments, just what is beneficial for the team. These are traits I pray my son follows as he is in love with the sport of basketball. I raise him to be humble, but it's nice to see there are actually still genuine athletes out there in which I don't mind him trying to emulate. There are no sexual assault scandals against anyone, no DUI or drug convictions or admissions of use. This is a truly humble and wholesome team. There was a time where I would always pray for victories. Just empty "Please God let them win" prayers. I recently realized how fruitless those prayers were as God has no immediate interest in intervening in basketball games. It would be an unfair advantage for the Spurs if God truly favored the team as far as the competition is concerned. I understand now what must be prayed for. That which I know God is willing to do if I have faith in him. That being said...I pray now that all of the San Antonio players be healed by the healing touch of God. I pray that these very words by the power in the name of Christ Jesus, that they be rejuvenated, re-energized, confident in themselves (coaches and players) and have an immovable faith that they will come back from 0-2 again and beat this Lakers team. In Jesus Christ name, Amen. They will obviously have to take care of the playing part, so winning and playing smart is up to them. This team has never defended a title. I pray that God truly exalts the humble here and humbles those who always exalt themselves. Now that's just me praying for my team. What is your take on this post season? Predictions, favorite teams, hopes for next season, etc. God Bless you all, & GO SPURS GO!!!

Lived in LA all my life and rooted for the Lakers from the times of Jerry West but that all changed when the Lakers went with Kobe over Shaq. Kobe may have been the better player but Shaq wasn't an arrogant jerk assaulting women in hotel rooms. Now my wife and I root against the Lakers to fulfill that Scripture you so aptly quoted. Go Spurs! And if they don't beat them, Go Celtics!! (You can tell how much I dislike Kobe. A Laker fan rooting for the Celtics!)

Lakers escaped last night on a blatant "no call" when Barry was trying to get a shot away at the buzzer. Should we just give the trophy to the Lakers now or make them play for another month.

ORIGINAL: BlindLemon5103 You mean you have to avoid cheering for your favorite team so long as Kobe is there? Or until he changes his attitude? I don't know how I would handle this. If the White Sox were a team full of jerks, but were consistent winners, well, maybe I could live with that! But it's a whole lot more fun when the players are class acts! I'm not a big basketball fan, but I think the Lakers will win it all. I watch a little NBA here and there, but it's not a big thing to me. When hockey ends, I'll probably watch a little more basketball. Penguins romp in the Igloo tonight! ( I hope !] It definitely is personal against Kobe! When he leaves the team, I will cheer. But for now, I will root against the team until they realize that he is more of a long term disability than an asset. When things go badly, he tends to blame others. Its no coincidence that they haven't won a championship since Shaq left. I am hoping that this year is no different. I guess I've seen one too many of his interviews on TV since they are the local team. Even when you'd want to avoid them you can't escape them! Oh and another thing, I saw some fans on the TV referring to themselves as the "Laker nation". If the Laker fans start to mirror the Raider fans in LA I won't be a fan no matter whose playing for the team.

The Celtics have ruled the Lakers historically in the Finals taking 8 out of 10 match-ups. Here's hoping to see 9 of 11!!

Shaq had kids out of wedlock and only married his soon-to-be ex-wife AFTER Kobe married Vanessa. The Celtics are GOING DOWN!!!! Derrick Fisher is a born-again believer and Kobe has given God credit for his talent. Even putting Psalm 27 on his arm is very cool. Sure Kobe was a brat last year, but that changed. He and his guys get along WAAAY better than the Shaq-Kobe era. It is a new crew and they will DOMINATE the next few years...especially when Andrew Bynum returns next year.

It's no coincidence that he never WON until he got with Kobe and Phil!!!! He only won in Miami because of Dwayne Wade and the great defense by Alonzo Mourning. That's why Dwayne complained of his laziness this past year and why they shipped his tail to Phoenix. He was also the DEMISE of a great Phoenix team that didn't get past the FIRST ROUND thanks to HIM!!!! KOBE RULES and is the REIGNING MVP!!! GOOOO LAKERS!!!!

My heart wants Celtics to win. They are hardworking, play the right way, and have a bunch of old All-Star vets that have never won it. ... My mind, however, thinks LA thrashes the Celtics in 5. I thought SA was better than Boston, so if they Lakers can crush the Spurs, they can definitely destroy Boston (granted SA was not at full strength with injuries and fatigue). ....Key matchup: No one can guard Kobe in the clutch on Boston.

ORIGINAL: Bobby It should be fun. An old school to the core Celtics fans at the Toronto Dominion Banknorth Garden will be doing the same chants their parents and grandparents did in the 1980's. Celtics fans have one big complaint: http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2008/02/17/go_go_dancing_all_over_reds_grave/ Get rid of these Laker clones! Paula Abdul must be so proud!!! Go Celtics!!!

Here comes the Lakers! The mighty, mighty Lakers! They better turn it up a notch in front of the home crowd! Otherwise the Celtics will take the plane ride home only for the victory parade!

Wow, Paul Pierce is much better than I thought. He's proving to be quite an elite star during these playoffs...time and time again he saves the day with big games. Lamar Odom...he's showing how inconsistent, useless, and overrated he is.

Game 3 - lost opportunity...Celtics had 'em down 6 in 4th quarter, then couldn't hold on.
