LOL Jen, I had a talk with ds last night about how his NEW Hiking boots are NOT water shoes! He took his water shoes (actually dh's old ones, because his were too small) and If he's going to go in the lake - he better have his water shoes on NOT his boots!!!
Sue - praying for Jake & you guys too! I am sure he's disappointed. Just because the military doesn't work out, doesn't mean he won't get things together. I'll be praying for him to see clearly God's direction for this time in his life. I was listening to an old CD yesterday while cleaning (Ashton, Becker & Dente), one song from it just came to mind. It's called "Blessing in Disguise" and the chorus goes: "You can rise from the ashes again, You can rise to the morning that breaks in your eyes, for what looked like your heart's demise, has turned out to be a blessing in disguise." I was thinking about how it's so easy to see that after the blessing part has come, but so hard when you're in the midst of the "heart's demise" part!
I'm enjoying the not needing to report while it lasts! I'm pretty sure next move will be to a state with reporting requirements. We've been blessed so far to never have to report. I always tease that if we weren't military, the government wouldn't know my kids exist (well, except for taxes I guess, we do claim them there!  )!
The boys are off to camp! Dd is watching Veggie Tales & I'm off to get a shower. I don't have to do kids' ministry today!! We're still going to go early because one of our pastors is starting a new class this morning called "From Pasture to Palace" about the life of David. It should be pretty interesting! He always has some insight I've never thought of before! But I actually get to sit through an entire adult worship service!! It'll be the 1st time since January. I should have 2 months off, but I'm wondering how long it will actually last. I just found out that we lost a family (they are attending a different church now) and the mom was one of our volunteers. So, I am expecting to be asked to "fill in". I am praying for us to find someone else who'd like to help.

It's strange, but, in some ways, all this parallels Jake joining our family. I had tried for years to get pregnant, lost a baby, got pregnant again and carried that child for 4 months. I had finally gotten to the point where I felt it was safe to tell people I was pregnant and then there was no heartbeat at my 4 month check-up. My Dad dropped dead 6 weeks after that, and my paternal grandmother died six weeks after Dad. Grandma died on June 30th. I was so broken that I wanted to take our name off the list to adopt. Well, six weeks after Grandma died, we got the call about Jake. If we hadn't lost the other 2 babies, we would have had a placement sooner and Jake wouldn't be our son. I don't understand why God works the way he does sometimes. It felt like my heart was going through a meat grinder during the months prior to Jake becoming part of our family. God does have a plan though, and it seems that sometimes we have to get broken down to the point where we're able to be molded by Him.

Isn't it amazing in hindsight how clear it all is what God was doing! Not in every instance of course. There are those things that we just will not understand until we meet Him face to face & he can explain it to us. But even the things that we see clearly afterward are so hard to see in the midst of the struggle! I guess God just knows that His children need to go through the fire to really appreciate being refined! Doesn't make the fire any less Hot though does it!
Sue - I think it was Jennifer who said he may need some time to grieve & that is probably true. His body may also need some time to recuperate from the pneumonia. I'm praying he sees this door being closed as the start of a new chapter in his life. He's very lucky to have such a wonderful Christian family to help him through this time!

Yep!! But I'm down to 1,000 now!! I know it doesn't sound like I've done a lot, but the most recent ones were ones I needed to make sure I could delete. Most of the rest are outdated things, but some have new addresses etc... in them & I don't want to accidentally delete those! It should be quicker going through the rest! I don't think I'll ever let it get this bad again. It may take me a few days to go through them, since my eyes are now getting blurry! It was sad seeing all of the e-mails from our beloved Scoutmaster who passed away in April.  They put his picture on their camp shirts this year with "Here in Spirit' below it. He'll really be missed this week. Well, the girls want to make some easy bake oven brownies, so I should go do that with them. Yeah it's late but they are having a sleepover & i can never get to sleep right away when dh isn't here anyway! Hope you all sleep well!

We have been insanely busy tonight.
I am in the chilly corner of the call center, since my coworker with asthma can't breathe under this vent that is constantly blowing cold air down on our heads, and I am freezing. 
Despite the fact that we have been insanely busy, the clock is not moving. It should be at least 3 am by now. I am certain I have been here 12 hours already.
 OK, I am done whining now. Aren't you all glad? 
We have had quite a scandal here at work this week. Our long time secretary (as in 28 years or so in the hospital) got herself fired over something unbelievably stupid. The offense was an automatic fire per hospital policy, and I can't believe she blew her job over it. I am certain she did it because she didn't think anything would happen, since our boss has no backbone, but apparently someone called HR and reported it. Our manager had no way of covering it up once HR was involved. We are all still sitting here with our mouths hanging open despite the fact that it happened 5 days ago.

I'd be happy to take some of that cold air off your hands. I just tried to go to sleep, but even with an ice pack, it's too stuffy. Things will cool down in a couple of hours so we don't want to put the air on yet, but it's too hot for me to sleep right now.

Did either of you vote in the Parade magazine poll? There's a thread about it. The question is Should parents need teaching credentials to home-school their kids? Right now "no" is at 90%

Cindy - hope Rascal gets better soon! How awful that someone threw some barbed wire in your pasture! I'm so glad none of your animals got hurt by it. Hope your night went quicker!
Jen - hope your day goes well.
I was up until 2. I watched an old Dateline & at the beginning it said it was part 1 of 2. Silly me thought they'd play part 2 right after it. Nope! Who knows if I'll ever catch the end & find out if the guy did it or not. Maybe I'll try to look it up online. The girls are up now. I'm going to try to do some cleaning before we get ready to go to the amusement park. They have No idea where we're going! I think they'll be excited & hopefully have a good time!
BTW - I'm down to just over 700 e-mails now!

I voted in it. My daughter has a friend who has graduated (homeschooled) but has younger siblings that are still homeschooled in CA. Very scary that this right could be challenged and possibly taken away by people who don't understand it!

I now have ONLY 37 e-mails in my inbox!!!! I should be able to get rid of some of them soon too! The sad thing is some of them were about scout camp LAST Year! Yep - I've been very lax in cleaning the inbox out!!
Dh e-mailed & since he signed up so late for camp, they didn't order shirts for him. So, I need to go find his other scout t-shirts & get them to Mrs. B (our late scoutmaster's wife) because she's going down there tomorrow! Finding them will be the trick!

Guess I need to start deleting things right away huh?!! 
Rascal came in last night with a wad of it in his tail. Fortunately he didn't get cut up. He did, however, throw out his shoulder. I don't think that had anything to do with the wire - probably stepped in a hole or something - but his shoulder is all swollen and he's limping. Ash was icing him down when I left for work, but he will be on stall rest for at least a couple of days and he will not be a happy horsey. Putting Rascal on stall rest is kinda like keeping a 2 year old in his room for a few days.
