Glad to hear Sarah's delivered. I am taking a break from clean fest 2008. Jerry is on a cleaning run and this time we swapped jobs. I usually start in the master bath then meet him in the bedroom in time to hang the clothes up that he has gone through and sorted. I am now reminded WHY I do the bathroom... I am here because here is as close as I can get to where he is without coughing my ever loving head off. See Jerry is a firm believer in BLEACH- problem is that today he put his 1cup bleach in the toilet and then decided the crud cutter cleaner might do it better faster so he flushed the toilet and then heavily sprayed the crud cutter. The bleach fumes were bad enough alone but now we have a toxic mix. I turned on all the fans and left dragging him with me. I now have a hearty BLEACH headache + the coughing associated with out cleaning cocktail. Jerry is back at it, I cannot go back to the spot I was working on because it is right at the bathroom door. Yeah- I am keeping an eye on him. I am one of those gals that can clean and never use a single spray or more than a few tablespoons of bleach so jerry's style of cleaning has always driven me out of the house. ~e

ORIGINAL: PrincessDonna Can God bring good out of even the worst things we have done wrong, when we repent and allow Him to work? If not, my husband and I might as well throw in the towel now. The person does something clearly against God's will (marrying and unbeliever) and the plot line revolves around the believer doing this because God told him/her to do so, when God would not tell anyone to do that. Then because the believer did this, the Lord works in the other person's heart and she is saved. It is all portrayed as if the Lord told the believer to marry and unbeliever and that's why it all turned out so well. That is based on bad theology and is far different from your situation, Donna.

Ellie, I don't know anything about the Kit AG movie that's out now. Around the holidays they showed Felicity on t.v. Yes they showed her sneaking out of the house, taking the horse and her father praising her for the deed. My dh likes to clean with beach too-and I can't take the fumes. I clean with vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice and he doesn't think things are clean enough that way. He doesn't like the smell of vinegar either, but apparently bleach fumes are no problem. I have told him that vinegar is a natural disinfectant and that once the smell goes, the house actually smells better than before. It is rare that he cleans so I can usually do what I want.

I'm going to buck the trend and confess that I clean with bleach. Not everything, but I do use bleach to clean the toilets. It's cheaper than toilet bowl cleaner and it does disinfect. The problem with your hubbies using the bleach may be that they're using it full strength or at least not diluting it enough. Bleach actually disinfects best at 20% strength, that's one of the disinfectants that's approved for hospital laboratories.

Tell Jerry congratulations on cooking up some chlorine gas in the bathroom, and give him a good whack upside the head for me. We are planning on going to Nelson Ledges on Monday after I drop portfolios at the school. I have threatened to cancel the fun if certain things don't get done today while I'm at work. I am SO tired of things not happening unless I'm there to tell them what to do. Ashley can actually keep them moving, but then my dh gets into this big snit about her not being the parent and contradicts her. Well, yeah, she's not the parent, but the parent who is home is taking a nap or watching tv or sitting in the bedroom listening to a book on tape. At least she is having them do something. I keep reminding them that if things would get done while I'm at work, I might be a little more willing to go do fun things on my days off because I wouldn't feel like I have to stay home and get work done. I am off all next week and I really don't want to spend the whole week working at home.

ORIGINAL: 2jsmom but I do use bleach to clean the toilets. It's cheaper than toilet bowl cleaner and it does disinfect. The problem with that idea is that, bacteria wise, the bowl is the cleanest part of your toilet. It's regularly flushed with clean, COLD water, which doesn't tend to encourage bacterial growth. The germiest part is where your toilet attaches to the floor. I use regular toilet bowl cleaner because we have pretty hard water and the bowl will have all sorts of scaly deposits in it if I don't.

Cindy, I don't blame you one bit. One good thing for me is that if little one acts up, I tell her there will be no swimming. She straightens up right quick. She finally put her face in the water the other day. Now we can work on her floating, swimming and her big goal-to go underwater. I went to a used curriculum fair a month ago and bought a microscope. Yup, my preschooler has a microscope. I walked by it and debated about it, came around again and it was 5 bucks. Now you do have to wiggle it some to get to see things clearly, but it does work. The seller told me that. My blessing was so interested in it that I thought about and said for 5 bucks, how can we go wrong? I figured you folks would understand and not call me crazy!

I SO would have bought a $5 microscope! I have an old one that I had was in school, and it seems to have finally given up the ghost. I can't see anything through it no matter how I wiggle and jiggle it. I need a new one.

Yeah, I figured it would spark an interest. The hard part is convincing her it's not a toy and needs to be used with adult supervision. When we first got it, she wanted to bring it to service to show off her new "toy". We told her no, she could not do that.

Not me. If I teach them that it's a toy, then it's harder to brake that habit when you get a good one.

Hmmm...well a good one, they would know they couldn't use without me. A $5 one, I wouldn't mind if they took it on the porch and I didn't help them with it. So maybe not a "toy", but I'd let them do more with it than if I had paid big bucks for it, if that makes sense.

I think that makes sense, Donna. This microscope we just got is beyond my understanding. I'm sure I'm making it more difficult than it ought to be and will be able to understand it soon. Everyone is really excited about it and I can hardly wait till our slides come in so we can look at all sorts of goo and things like water from Puget Sound. We are also getting plastic test tubes with screw on lids, so we can bring home the samples.

My mom said to meet them at the nail salon at noon. I sat in my van in the parking lot in front of the salon for FORTY MINUTES in 90 degree heat before they found me. I did not know there were two doors to the salon and they were parked on the other side. I did not have my cell phone with me because Brandon was mowing the church lawn and Nate was at home, so I left mine with him. I did not go in because I hate going places alone where I don't know anyone. I guess that was my own error, but in my defense, it is perfectly reasonable given my mom's history to think she might be nearly an hour late! LOL After all, she called me at 6:55 this morning to tell me to sleep in and we'd do the pedicures later And, no, I never did get back to sleep. However, my toes are gorgeous now They are BRIGHT green with white flowers. And my mom got me a silver celtic toe ring. Then they took me to lunch. We will all go to the movies at 4. Pretty cool day, all in all.
