Well I am doing OK this week. I have done my exercise this week. I did pilates at lunch today, and this evening I am going to run. It seems I get to my pilates class and then blow it the rest of the week.

I didn't do my run tonight, bad me. It was one of those weird days that throws off the entire routine/schedule. We had friends over for brunch and ended up talking until almost 2, then DD didn't get up from her nap until 3:30 and by then I'm thinking about what to make for dinner, etc...

Back on the horse(or dreadmill) in the morning.

I finished week 1! WOOT for me! I usually quit this kind of thing after a day or two, so to actually finish a week is a big deal and I'm stoked.
On to week 2 on friday! Yeah baby!

I ended up having an All-Bran bar Could have been better, but it did the trick.

Did another c25k run tonight, we are taking our time, because one week isn't enough time to be able to breathe while running So we're on week 2, about ready to move onto week 3!

ETA.... YAY Sandy! Keep going, you can do it!

went for run #1 of week 3 yesterday. My knees are KILLING me. Either because of the increase activity or I didn't stretch well enough. I'm going to try really hard to stretch good today and tomorrow so that my run tomorrow is easier. I really want to take some time off to let my knees rest up, but I'm afraid that will get me in an inactivity mode and too may excuses. I"ll just do the best I can to keep my knees comfortable.

I was tired of juggling my ipod while running, so I went and bought a 1 GB shuffle. It's cute and purple. My podrunner podcast is the first thing on it, then after that it's all music if I run out of podrunner before I get back to the house.

I was so excited I had to come and tell somebody...but the scale says I lost 10 POUNDS!!!

This is very exciting after 4 months of working out and not losing one pound! I think the last time I weighed myself was at least a week ago.

YAY YAY YAY!!!!

YAY Yolanda!!!!!!!! That's terrific!

I forgot to update on an experiment I did. I weighed myself every day of my period this month. The week before I put on 6 lbs, then I started and stayed steady (I continued to run and drink my water). When I was about half done, and the majority of my flowing done, I was down to 1 lb higher than I was the week before I started.

I'm going to track it again next cycle, so I can see my monthly change. I think that's the best way.

Good idea, Christine!

I am so jealous, Yolanda!! I've been stuck for over a year while eating well and exercising and wish something like that would happen to me!!! But I'm glad it happened to you.

well i missed alot since the second page...haha

i decided i want to get back down to about 160. i'm 180 now. i used to be about 195-ish about a year ago so over the year i dropped 15 lbs. i did manage to get back down to 175 but i slacked off and went back up. honestly i'm totally comfortable with my weight and the way i look, but the women in my family tend to start getting overweight at my age and older, so i dont want to fall into that too.

but! i dont want to just lose weight, i want to gain muscle too. anybody here into that?

Blueorchid, I think almost all of us here are into fitness, not just weight loss.

Well, I finished a 4th run of week #1, I think I will do one more tomorrow and then move onto week #2.

Really, really well! Thanks for asking Yolanda! I've been doing the Bible Study that Sandy recommended and it's made an AMAZING difference in how I deal with my food issues. Prayer and Bible Study is replacing ice cream as my favorite stress reducer! Yeah!!!!

I weighed in yesterday and was down 6.5 pounds from last week. I know a lot of that was because last weeks weigh in was 24 hours before AF started, but it was still great to see the numbers go down instead of up! So: Started at 221.5, Currently at 215!

I'm sticking with the C25K and doing pretty well (when I can actually get out to the treadmill and get it done). I think I'm going to move on to week 2 this weekend. I've been able to get through the week 1 workouts and only really struggle during the last run or two.

Kat that's awesome!! I'm so glad to hear it, because it wasn't too long ago that you were really frustrated!

Anybody doing the C25K, in the beginning, my running partner and I always find the last run before halfway is the hardest. Then the first run after halfway is easier... I could be how the road is when we get to that point, but it's been that way every time. Anybody else notice things like that?

I thought it might be neat to go back to our original goals and take a look at how we're doing, and perhaps tweak them if need be!
Here was my original post (on June 3...just one month ago)

quote:

ORIGINAL: firefightermama

What is your ultimate goal for your body?
To get back to this or this.

I am in terrible shape.(me now) After my first pregnancy I had no chance to lose any weight before getting pregnant again, so I feel like i have double the weight. I don't mind sharing here. I am 234 and my ultimate goal is 180.

According to the BMI, that is still overweight, but I think that index is a load of hooey, and I know that if I reach 180, I will be healthy and in shape.

I'm now at 221 lbs!

quote:

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?

Not really, I've jump started a few times, but never got anywhere. I love the C25K plan, I might even start it today. I'm downloading podcasts as we speak!

I've been doing the C25K at least 2 times a week, still trying to get the commitment level up to 3 times, but I'm still sticking with it. We're on the end of week two almost ready to move on to week 3 (we're extending some of our weeks a bit)

quote:

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?
I have a 10-year reunion this year, in August. It doesn't give me a whole lot of time, and I won't have reached my goal by then, but it is for sure a good place to start.

If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal?
I can work out now, but I'm interested to see how running goes with the stroller...

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?
A few...I'd like to lose at least 10 lbs by July 24th. That's my trip to Boston, and I want to buy some new clothes!!

Well, I've reached my first mini-goal, so I'm going to set another goal, that I can lose another 10 pounds by my reunion in August. I know the first bit of weight usually comes off the quickest, so 10 lbs might be pushing it, but I'm going to try to stick with it.

So...how is everyone else doing?

Finished Week 5 today...yay!!! It was interesting to say the least. I ran the entire 20 minutes...except for a few steps in lap 82 or so where I just had to walk, but I picked it right back up. So yeah...it was kind of right there in the middle...just past it actually. The workout got easier after that as I knew I was on the downhill of it so to speak. (I run in my house...and today made 140 laps around my kitchen/living room. Crazy, I know...but it works.) My DH even stayed in the bedroom (watching tv and munching crackers tho, grrr). So I didn't have an audience as expected.

Later, he went grabbing for a bag of chips...I stopped him and asked him to warm up some leftovers for lunch. He said he was hungry, I was hungry, and I was pretty sure our son was hungry too. We didn't need those chips!!! Not sure if we'll buy more...they're the Multigrain Tostitoes...very good....but...we really don't need any chips.

I didn't really set definite goals...just wanted to get healthier, lose some weight. I feel like I am...cuz I am pretty sure I couldn't have ran 20 minutes like I did today if I wasn't in better shape....even if the scale isn't budging much.

I did day 2 of week 1 today...1 more day then I'll move on to week 2. We went to the gym and there were NO open treadmills - so we walked the track until 2 opened up next to each other. Dh and I are still stalking craigslist for a treadmill. I know we'll need a pretty heavy duty one that will stand up to the both of us using it 3x/week or more, but right now we really don't have much money to spend. I'm hoping for the right one to come along before September, which is when we'd have to renew our gym membership. Either that or we'll save up a bit until one we want comes along.

Still here... I lost another pound during the week, so it's three pounds down for me now, and I'm about a week and a half into just changing eating habits. I planned on starting the c25k last week, but did not, so now I plan on starting it next week. I am trying to decide if it would be a better routine to do M, W, and F or T, Th, and Sat. Problems with both of those...Mondays is when our garbage is picked up, so there would be garbage cans along the sidewalks, and the garbage collectors driving around would most likely see me...and I really want as few people to see me as possible...that's why I try to do it at 6 AM. Then, other schedule on Saturday hubby wants to sleep in, so if I get up and go workout, come home, take a shower or even relax for a while, the kids will likely be disturbed, wake up, and bother him with noise... So, I have a difficult time picking a schedule right now....................

Stacy,

My parents have a pretty good treadmill that needs a new belt. They offered it to me, but I bet they'd sell it you fairly cheaply if you can get it from Tucson to Phoenix.

I found some good stretches for my knees the other day and did them this morning before my run. It helped. I need to do the stretches every day in addition to my yoga so that my knees aren't as sore.

Early early early on in the thread someone asked about cramping while running. I FELT IT TODAY! I know exaclty what you mean. I don't know what caused it, but I felt exactly what you meant, period-like cramping when not on my period. I wonder if all my muscles were just getting sore, or if I was tightening them too much and it hurt ... kinda like a charlie horse. I dunno. But I did feel it.

I was really trying to have Sunday as a day off...as to not be doing it before church, but I guess it could work... We have to leave the house at 8:30, so that would still allow me enough time... Hmmm...

Didn't do my run last night. I was so stinkin' tired I was dozing by 7pm! Not usually that tired, but for once, didn't have a day filled with stress and drama LOL, so I must have crashed...
Anyhoo, will do it tonight. I'm a good girl, I am.
