Well I have only been believer for 11 years and cant speak of before that, yet I did go to a few different churches and observed that Pentecostals were what I called holy rollers and baptists and Methodists were stiffnecked and my experience with non-denoms was they were about in middle believing in gifts yet restricting them as Paul said as far as tongues. So I have seen the entire gambit in the past 10 years. I do know that there are still some fundamental churches where repentance is preached. From what I have seen in checking past revivals is it came about because of preaching the Bible and repentance of sin there were reports of healing and miracles but were not the main thing. The main thing was Christ and Him crucified. So if there is not repentance from sin and no blood there is no revival. I have not witnessed the other events so can not say. I do know that rolling on floor and laughing and barking i have seen is not consistent with fruit of the Spirit which last item mentioned is self control. As for what is coming in future I believe much more of the emotional high people love and false miracles as Jesus said it would come in last days. It is not surprising that there is much about feelings and experience and nothing of repentance in some churches. Come Lord Jesus Oh and for those that have seen me in other threads yes I am with a Baptist church at the moment. And it is one of the differences I have with the pastor for I do believe the gifts of Spirit are current the Lord does not change. However the rest of the doctrines I agree with for it is a fundamental Baptist church. I dont know why the Lord called me to Baptist church but sure Glad He did not call me to a holy rollers church I would definately have left town.

What I've experienced over the years is that you cannot always (or even mostly anymore) tell what a church is going to be like by the name on the door. That wasn't the case years ago when denominations clung tooth and nail to their identities. But it seems those days are over or at least on the wane. Thank you, Lord! Thank you for helping us, your body of believers, to begin to move on from that silliness of segregating ourselves. No, I don't mean we need to embrace the ecumenical movement where belief (no matter what it is) is to be lauded. I'm talking about people who know and love the Lord Jesus Christ, God incarnate, who died for our sins and rose three days later, and who indwells those whom are His children -- those who come to Him by faith in Him. That's who I'm talking about being segregated and now beginning to break free of that. Hallelujah! Just wanted to make that clear. But to bring this back to topic, we can't always tell where we're going to hear repentance preached, and it's best not to pigeonhole it.

BTW, I heard a really good repentance message preached a few days ago at a funeral of a thousand people. Was it comfortable for everyone? No, but the Lord was moving, and it's been wonderful to see people come to the Truth. What's really interesting is that you just can't tell who is going to hear the truth. It's amazing to me how it's oftentimes the last people you expect.
