There were only two total on Walmart with a cord. This one was about $20 more than the regular swings but I thought it would easily pay for itself. And it does have the batteries option as well.

Looking at the lists of 'necessities' that various people have posted ... I'd say half of that ended up being more of a nuisance than a help, especially when child #3+ came along ... stuff just ended up being in the way, etc. Give me until this evening to figure out my list of necessities ... (oh, and a change table and diaper pail will NOT be on that list!)

I posted what I consider the most important "baby item" previously, however here is another list:
baby sling--I liked the Koala Sling by Prince LionHeart (made in U.S.A.). It's a million times better than a carrier when you need to carry the baby anywhere and newborns can be carried in most. I had one of the strap-on baby carriers, but it was used only when baby and I were riding the horse, mowing the grass, or similar.
diaper rash ointment--I tried most of them and Boudreaux's Butt Paste was probably the best--worked great and much less likely to sting when baby had bad rash. However, I have learned to pay close attention if your toddler asks if it's OK to play "ghost"--and says he needs his "ghost lotion" (aka BBP smeared from head to toe...)
water proof changing pad that can be tucked in the "diaper bag" (aka my work bag); it also helps to have a small can of spray disinfectant so you can clean a public changing area before using it.
Play/Nap mat(washable) -- used it to lay my son on when I had to do work outside and couldn't do it with him in the sling or carrier.
baby swing
portable and machine washable booster chair/high chair that straps to any regular chair. I would put my son in it strapped to a stool so that he could watch the birds at the bird feeder.
For when he was a little older (1yr+):
stroller--not the kind where he lays down but the real simple one he sits in--I had the "Jeep" model--it had bigger tires and was much tougher. both necessary on the rough ground around our home. My son loved to take long "walks" (I walked, he sat) to get to sleep. Started when he was in the sling, I'd walk up to a mile each night, pointing out the moon, different stars, and planets, and tell him the names of the constellations, facts about the moon and planets. By the time he was 6 months old, he was showing ME the moon.
Things I had but never used:
baby bath tub
baby bed
changing table
diaper pail
wipe warmer
big infant stroller
high chair (gave it away still in the box)
"boppy"

the only problem with something like that is....IME of course (which with four kids so far is numerous experience)... you can not always tell what items you will or will not need for baby when you go to change them. I have been known to just grab a few items from the diaper bag, then get in there and find they needed much more then just a diaper change, and then you can't just leave to go get what you need cause you have a naked baby laying there. I say just take the well stocked diaper bag with you (or an older kid who can run back out to get what you need )
I suppose we were lucky that DD saved her "blowouts" mostly for the times we were at home.  And that she almost never had diaper rash as an infant.
WOW aren't you lucky!!!!! I can't tell you how many blow outs we have had away from home with all four of mine!!!!

cool beans!!! Then yes, a diaper pail of some kind will be a good thing to have (not really a diaper thing like the diaper genie, just a bucket with a lid to put them into)

Don't forget to have plenty of receiving blankets. They have many uses: good for swaddling, burp cloths, roll them up to keep the little heads from falling over in the car seat, and a warm cover in case you have to lay them on a cold surface for changing.

We have the Fisher Price Rainforest swing and it plugs into the wall or runs on batteries. But the one Erin linked to is also really cute and probably takes up less space than the huge one I have.

Yeah I noticed last night in a book that the full size Rainforest swing does plug in. I like the travel swings' size, but I dont think it would work well for us since we have pets (1 dog, 2 cats). The taller one would be most logical for our needs.
I got offered a swing on loan last night, not pluggable, but hey good price! If I dont get one of our own I may just take her up on it!

in our last move the batteries leaked in the swing and the bouncy seat, so both had to be tossed...so those are the only two things we have to replace this time. We are thinking of getting THIS ONE that is a combo of the two. However the last swing we had was one that could go front to back or side to side, and we loved that....so we may just get two separate things again and go for the bigger swing like we had before. We haven't decided yet...which is why we haven't bought anything yet...lol

I only have a couple things to add. ONE - don't expect even half the stuff on your registry. My mom even included the little slip from the registry in all of my shower invitations and only 3 people bought from it. Everyone else got me clothes or bottles. (The bottle part was funny because my mom also in big bold letters put that I was breastfeeding.) Also I only recieved One small pack of diapers at my shower and they were a size 2 (my cousin figured everyone would buy size one so she wan't to be helpful and not give me too many LOL).
Second my all time favorite piece of clothing for night time was those night gowns with elastic bottoms. They are great for sleepy changes.
Third someone had mentioned one of the head things to put in a car seat but prewarn some hospitals won't let you leave with that installed unless it came with your carseat. My hospital wouldn't said that it was an accident hazard or something I don't know. Also on the topic of car seats don't buy one from yard sale unless you specifically know the person and know that the car seat has not been in an accident. Even if it doesn't look damaged it may be and its better to be safe than sorry.
Thats all I can think of right now.

one time for a shower, we put in the invitation that anyone that brought a package of diapers, no matter how small or large, would be entered into a drawing for a special treat. We then spent about $25 on a basket of nice smelly bathroom stuff (lotion, body wash, candles, etc)...and that was well worth it. We didn't have to buy diapers for over 6 months!!!

I'm going off of things for my little brothers and recent items used for cousins and such. Both little brothers 3 and 5 now, sat in their excisaucer, Those were pretty portable and could be pulled into any room and them sit secure and safe and occupied, they used those diposable take and throw bowls and just washed and reused them over and over for cereal and food. The boys were both bathed in the kitchen sink with a dish gripper at the bottem, buy fleece and stitch it up for recieving blankets and burb cloths. We didnt have a changing table just a smaller wider dresser that was about waste high and they were changed on top of that for years. walmart sales an off brand of these little trash bags called ruffies, they are sented, all wet diapers stayed in the pale, the poopy ones went directly into the bag and taken out or at least sat outside the back door till someone was available. some of the funnier things I have seen, since one side is a little less well off, is dishbasin baths, like in a big plastic tupperware, old jammies cut up as wipes and bibs and blankets etc. some of the older kiddos sweat shirts had the bottom cut off and stitched and that was a sleep sack. Even one of my older cousins was put to sleep in a wide clothes hamper set on an egg crate beside the bed!!!! If they can do it and have "normal" children I bet you can girl!!!!

I had a Diaper Genie (used) given to me this weekend! So there's one item off the list.
As well as a big box of clothes...sleepers etc.
All of one lady's baby stuff offered to me (when she gets it out of the attic). She said around 700 onesies!! And no telling what else.
And SIL got three boxes of stuff dropped off to her for us, not sure whats in them yet!
God is awesome!!!
