I made my post about the Regent University Law School dean accused of child molestation because the concept of biological evolution is often considered to be evil among conservative Christians, and because those who understand and advocate the concept of biological evolution are often considered to be evil, as well. Okay. I'm trying to see where you're going here but I'm totally lost. You posted this thread under the title "another evolutionist caught in sex scandal," but in fact what you posted had nothing to do with another evolutionist, though it did involve a sex scandal. I might as well have posted this article under the title "Another Wiccan high priest caught in sex scandal," and it would be just as (in)accurate. Some Christians, it has to be said, have called evolution evil, and those who accept it evil. But I hope you find a broader experience on these forums, should you choose to stay under your current username. I come and go from these forums, but on those occasions when I'm here, I've clashed pretty regularly with people like Jhud (who posted above), and I don't recall any time when either of us called the other actually evil. quote:
As a committed life-long Baptist who understands and advocates the concept of biological evolution, I've always been amazed by Baptists who so quick to rail against the "evils of evolution", and condemn those of us who understand the concept as being agents of evil, but provide jobs and support for freaks such as Mr McPherson who abuse children in the charge of the church. I highly, highly doubt that McPherson was given the job with the knowledge that he was a child abuser. (And I should stress at this point that he is still accused, not convicted, of that crime.) In the last Baptist church where I volunteered to work with youth, a couple of years ago, there was both a general mistrust of the theory of evolution, and a great effort, including criminal records checks and education about acceptable and unacceptable behavior, for everyone considering working with youth, no exceptions. While we disagreed on views about evolution, I don't think a single person present in that environment would have comfortably stood by and did nothing if there was a reason to believe youth could be at risk because of one or more of our volunteers. quote:
Why do you not rail against Mr McPherson? Should I expect to see a "700 Club" program soon that is devoted to the evil of Mr McPherson? Perhaps you can find some equivalent news of an evolutionary biologist who abuses children. I don't speak for the 700 Club. I'm fairly certain, given a few minutes, I could fire up Google and find a biologist arrested for some form of abuse. What would that prove? I would not judge evolutionary biology on the basis of the actions of a few evolutionary biologists.
