Yes, it is ultimately the "choice" of the person that commits suicide, but it would be pathetic and unconscionable for anyone to stand by and watch and do nothing while their loved one slipped to those depths without making any attempt to help them. I believe that was my mistake when I was 16. Sure, it's not my fault that she had/has a chemical inbalance, but if I had told my grandma or dad about what was going on at home before we got evicted and "lost it all" everything could have been prevented perhaps. It's not my fault everything happened the way it did, but I probably could have prevented it. I won't make that mistake again. You've placed the blame on yourself for a lot of things that you had no control over. Please don't do that to yourself. (((hugs))))

ORIGINAL: SteelMagnolia So, I'm wondering if she is angry with me, or feels ashamed...I dunno. I wish I could just drive over there and settle it, but I can't until Friday. I understand that you are concerned, and rightly so - just be careful that you don't allow her silence to manipulate you. It could be that she is not in her right mind, or it could be that she is doing a passive-aggressive number in order to try and wear you down and get you on her side. I will be praying for wisdom and discernment for you. And peace and comfort. You could be right, Manda. Thanks you. She called me back today. We didn't talk about "it". I told her we were moving, and she told me that she got some food stamps and the employment department is helping her find a job. They have a really nifty system where you enter in your skills and it matches you with a job. Anyway, she sounded like she was on the verge of crying the whole conversation, but we are both happy for eachother. We planned for me to come over with the kids on Saturday and she may take Timmy overnight if we have the gas to go back and get him....not sure if we will, so it might just be a day visit. I'm glad she's not acting angry. We'll talk more in depth about what happened when I go over there.

Christina I've been wondering how it went when you went to see your mum.

Thanks for asking, Manda. She is doing OK. She doesn't seem too badly depressed. Her hair was clean and so was her apartment, plants watered, etc. The employment department is helping her look for a job, and she is getting food stamps. She says she still wants to go through with getting back child support from my dad, and that she will leave me out of it. I think she's going to write him a letter. She said she won't be asking for the $325 a month, more like $150, so it shouldn't put him out too badly. Her power finally got turned back on, but neither one of us can really afford to drive. I talked to her about her landlord, and she said he really is being gracious. He won't kick her out, and he really will wait for her to return to work. So, I'm so happy about that because that means I won't have to face her if she needed a place to live. I chickened out when I wanted to talk to her about being more responsible and that she doesn't have anyone to fall back on. Oh, well...hopefully there won't have to be another opportunity to need to have that talk. I hate confrontation!
