I'm the one who said 350 but I think you misunderstood. Our total in early and late service is about 350. Less than that for SS because not everyone goes to SS. For example, I co-teach 5-1st grade SS class and we have about 7 in our class.

I like having them. Mainily because I am not able to attend Sunday morning services due to work and I like to be able to grab one sunday night and still know what is going on. I think we have to be cautious about "order of Services" that even if printed we can still follow the leading of the Holy Spirit when he decides to change the Order of Service.

Overall I think they are a waste of time and money..and just more work for the custodial staff to clean up every week.

Well I can vouch for the custodial staff cleaning them up. Wow though never new any churches paid people that werent members. In the 4 years that I have been designing, printing and folding as well as passing out bulletins I mostly supplied the computer, paper and all other expenses. Guess I just go to wrong churches, guess thats the way it goes as a minister. Maybe now that I turned in my ministers licence I should look for a church that will pay me to do the books, bulletins, and janitorial work. Any out there know of any positions? If so PM me.

Hee-hee-hee, BibleL7! You're cute. If that is really what you want to do, then I hope you can do it. The church bulletin is a portion of my jobs for the church I work for. I have never been a member there, although my husband is the church board secretary. (VERY long story short, I got kicked out of a church, and I got very settled into my congregation 1.5 years before he decided to leave the one we had attended.) I learned that they were just thinking about getting an administrative assistant, during a time when they had no pastor, and volunteered for the job, working for free for the month I guaranteed them, then I was going to get a paying job. (This was at the end of my recovery from two rear-ender accidents, and I wasn't sure I could work.) They asked me to stay, offered me the right pay, and I will have been there 4 years in August. There are some draw-backs of not being a member there yet holding this job, but the benefits to the church add up to more. To be honest with you, it is almost a secret as to why and how it benefits a church. Some of the people understand some of them, but working in that capacity, I see many benefits to the church and some for me as well.

I expect a church to pay the workers such as secretary, custodial staff, etc...but in the cost of money I was referring to I was actually thinking of the cost of the bulletins themselves, and the ink to print them.

To paid personnel who make bulletins and those who receive bulletins Let's all shred our bulletins each Monday and send them all to Buckifn!

I think our church bulletins are very helpful. Our pastors and elders are very busy and our bulletin lists the various outreach services and programs offered by our church. We also have a family devotional so that we can continue to worship in our homes. I find the bulletin to be very helpful. Yes, I eventually throw mine away but it is still useful for a time.

Hello Everyone, In reading over the replies I wonder how you would feel if you were a shut in and this is one of the only contacts you have? Or if you felt like no one cared and the bulletin came to you through the mail with a little note "we miss you"? Have you ever looked at a 7 year olds smile when they see their name there for their birthday? I must admit there are some valid points on both sides but if you feel like it is your ministry then why would anyone want to try to force an opinion or change what God has given? Just some thoughts. May God bless all Smiles Eve

I am amazed at the number of replys this topic has generated and the depth of feelings people have about a booklet of paper. Is the western church so spoiled that this is a big issue? Come on people..if you like having a bulleting take one if not a polite no thank you. If you feel there is a lack of communication in churches then make the effort to fellowship more. If working on the bulletin causes you so much stress then don't do it. What I mean is in the kingdom of God we are dealing with life and death, in an eternal way. This is foolishness, over 100 posts about bulletins! Kim Q

Sure, might be nice if they did but they don't. quote:
