Something we've picked up from other friends is the "no thank you serving." For us, it's okay to not eat a plateful of something you don't like, but you DO need to take a tablespoon's helping and eat it. I will alter tonight's menu slightly to fit tastes for my son, such as leaving some rice or noodles plain, etc. But then, it's just the two of us, and it's easy enough. My son and I recently had dinner with a couple from church who we don't know very well, and when we arrived, each place at the table was already set with an appetizer of shrimp on a bed of lettuce. Neither my son nor I like shrimp, but we ate it without a face or gag! It's just polite when you're at someone else's home. -Lorene
