If we are for the torture and killing of our enemies, then why kill Saddam, he only killed and tortured his enemies.

Because he wasn't a Christian American.

Sometimes I wish I could sit on a island and watch Bo become prez. have another Tim Mcveigh come along.. and then Bo say all people that look like him are terrorists.. lock them all up. Or how about a Christian kill another abortion doctor and then all the Christians get locked up. Of course not me, because I'm on the island by myself.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Were you in favor of Saddam's rewarding the families of "Palestinian" suicide bombers in Israel? Were you happy that he sent them money every time a family member blew themselves up, killing numerous Israelis? Or are things better off (for Israelis, at least) now that he's gone?

Are you in favor of the Saudis "rewarding" the families of the suicide bombers?

Then why haven't you lobbied to have them invaded?

We did the same thing with the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan when they attacked the Soviets.

We have also funded various forms of insurgencies and "terrorism" in Latin America as well as Africa and Asia.

In general, things have boded worse for the Israelis as a result of the Iraq war. The invasion, which inflamed Muslim anger throughout the world, certainly had an effect on the Palestinian elections which put Hamas in charge, and may have also led to problems with Hezbollah. Additionally, the Iraq invasion signalled to Iran, Syria, and other Middle Eastern regimes that if the US or Israel thinks you might be developing nuclear weapons, you might as well go ahead and develop them anyways. Terrorism seems to be on the rise throughout the middle east, and much of the anger seems to be directed at Israel, the US, and Britain.

But the real question here is whether applying human rights to detainees and establishing some sort of legal oversight of the whole system bodes better for Israel and the US or not. And I think that when certain bad apples get the impression there isn't much oversight, certain pictures get created, and those pictures tend to turn into a pass for radical Muslims to engage in terrorism while getting enough moderates to maybe turn a bit of a blind eye to it. This results in attacks on Israel and the US.

Where's your link, with credible intelligence saying Saddam did that?

And no I'm not happy. Who would be?

But how does torturing other human beings solve or fix that?

We put blood on our hands because some guy half way round the world killed some of his enemies, this same guy is now dead, been dead, who by the way we sat around 35 years knowing Saddam was that kinda of monster, and did nothing.

But now 2 years after he gone it's our excuse to torture some people?

Not sure what point you're making. Are you agreeing that it was good for the Allied Forces to remove Saddam from power, and then going on to say that we should invade Saudi Arabia as well? Not sure that's the best course of action -- different situations require different solutions, sometimes diplomatic, sometimes military, sometimes both.

I believe it. I believe that we tortured the **** out of them - and still do in some areas of the world....

...We should be better than that...wiser than that...that America has fallen to the need for torture to get info.

God bless all,
Galadriel2

....whoops...sorry...I forgot that the word that is bleeped out is a word we can't use. Let's just say...I believe that detainees have been treated very badly.
