Cursing is also a problem for me because of my job (LARGE county sheriff's deputy)

I've heard this before. I am so sorry. Just jump right in!!

I have some powerful excuses to get that Mustang...but...I don't need it. Hence the many years I have considered getting one.

Just think about it! That beautiful blue Mustang, in perfect condition, sitting in your driveway. You bring out the hose, gently beginning to pour the water over it. Light steam rises from the engine housing. It is still warm from your latest spin. The water beads on the glistening finish . . . .

Still a dollar in each box . . . .

Wish there was more in the Mellow Box . . . .

After several complaints about foul language in our office my boss finally put out a memo about it. He assigned a value to each word. Of course I believe he did this as a joke.

A few weeks ago he said some cuss word in front of me and much to his surprise I pulled out his memo. It was ten years old.

We decided sing a conservative guestament he now owes the fund $14, 798.75. I told him we would take a check.

When he pays up, that'll be some office party!!

I did that, because I used to say "momma" in a way that I knew in my heart was not good. For that one, I chose a charity that I strongly disliked. I had $21 (if I remember correctly) in the jar when I had to pay up.

Waaaallll, there's $2 in each box now. I was really patient with a guy who kept driving slowly and turning on his flashers, driving a block, and turning them off. I finally started to pass him, so he sped up. I dropped back behind him, and he slowed, turning on his flashers again. Then her turned on his right turn signal. About that time, I forgot myself and said, "Are ya gonna drive?"

But I am thinking about how I can change my thoughts toward these people. This is so common. You already thought it, but I hadn't. See them as people in need of G-d's love, and treat them accordingly.

Well, I have $6 in the Tense Box and $2 in the Mellow Box. It is hard to find kindnesses one can do above and beyond what the law already says to do, and so easy to get irritated. Blechhhh.

This thread was helping me so much to be more mindful of my attitude that I was even-steven ($1 each) on each side. But, I got less mindful of it and, as you say Covaan, it's hard to find opportunity to be extra kind while driving. So I'm $1 up in the tense box now.

re extra kind driving: I don't put anything in the Mellow box for letting other drivers out, etc. because I did that before.

Yeah. I was taking my husband somewhere the other day, and I had let a pedestrian cross the street, and he wondered why I didn't put a dollar in the Mellow Box. To me, that was just common courtesy required by law, but he responded, "Yeah, but nobody else does that around here." I don't know. Since it is so hard to do things that are not already law, maybe I should start adding dollars for such things that others don't normally do or for times when I could have reacted but didn't. That box never gets opened!

This is how I got anything in my Mellow Box. A situation where I normally would have gotten aggravated but I kept my cool and was pleasant. I'm sure there have been lots more of those situations but I'm trying to just *be* kind. Without thinking about it.

So, I may never have more than $1 in my Mellow Box but I'd like to keep my Tense Box at $2.

Ha! We were laughing about this Sunday. We were at my son's house when I told my family what I was doing, and they were shocked! They suggested Planned Parenthood instead. Nyaaa. I think I will stick to the old church.
