This thought was inspired by 'The Ultimate Sacrifice' thread, in which it asked if you would be willingly to die for another. That isn't the question I'm getting to, though. Everyone has had serious nightmares. Nightmares that cause such a reaction that you find yourself in a pool of sweat, brushing off the division between reality and nocturnal imaginings. Have you ever woke up during these moments and thought, "what if this was real?" - I certainly have, and usually leaves me horrified with the "what if...." lingering in the back of my mind. What is the worst imaginable nightmare come true scenario for you? Instead of waking up to just a nightmare, it's a reality. This thread might help us recognize what all we have to be grateful for, instead of going about everyday like nothing is ever going to happen. We take everything we have for granted and assume reality never changes.

I had to think about this for a while. It was hard not to say something cliched and just be done with it. I think my worst nightmare is that I would be stuck with someone that yelled at me and hurt me physically and emotionally for the rest of my life. The thought scares me so so much.

The guy I liked ended up with another girl... hurts because i really really care about him. Or he ends up with some woman who's really mean but he doesn't see that.

One of the worst nightmares I've ever had, or can remember, looked like a very bloody horror movie. I don't even want to go into the details. But I woke up terrified and afraid to go back to sleep. I don't ever want to find myself in such a situation. Last night, I dreamed that I was marrying someone other than my boyfriend who I love more than anything. And I didn't even know the guy! Standing in front of the church in my white gown, I was crying because the man next to me wasn't the one I wanted to be with forever. That sucked.

i only ever had one nightmare that woke me up like that. and i dont even remember it. as for things im afraid of... lots and none at the same time. im more like worried rather than afraid. i'd say the thing that im most "afraid" of right now is loneliness

eek. I wonder if nightmares can be the reflection of our worst fears.

Hahaha, for sure! Yesterday someone told me that he'd dreamt about me. I was kinda weirded out, but moreso when he told me what had happened. I was the only person in his dream, and I was playing a song I'd written on the piano. He said that that song had "haunted" him all day, it was that good. Then he told me that if I ever thought of writing songs, I should do it. Talk about weird. It was HIS dream, his subconscious that thought up the song, it didn't have anything to do with me, plus I can't write worth a darn, and I can't play the piano either! I think it's unfair of him to expect me to write songs just because of a silly dream he had! Okay, sorry that was really random, but I just wanted to vent!

I knew Lassie was evil. Methinks she pushed Timmy into the well.

What is the worst imaginable nightmare come true scenario for you? Instead of waking up to just a nightmare, it's a reality. Actually I haven’t had a nightmare in over 3 years, I began to use a Jewish principal in prayer, which is said before going to bed Saying: I thank you Lord for your presence, and knowing while I sleep that when I awake I will still be in your presence. (I modified it so that it covers both bases; in case I die in my sleep) and it eliminated every form of nightmare, But on the other hand there have been many tempting dreams, which come far and in-between; and as I noticed they occurred only when I forget to say the prayer......some I won and some I lost..... Depending on what level of sleep I was in, …….But they never carried over into reality, However, now that I have noticed that truth of when they come to pass; because I forgot to speak the prayer….then I definitely ask for forgiveness! when I was really young, up until maybe the age of 10 I had horrible horrible nightmares that I still remember vividly. I don't remember ever waking up suddenly from them though. Usually it was either someone in my family being hurt in a very obscure, abstract way, or one of my family members harming me. They were just very weird horror flicks. sometimes cartoonish, yet real instead of animated. Now when i have nightmares they aren't actually scary, and often leave me wondering what was going to happen next, and wanting to have the dream again so that I could analyze it :P And sometimes.... they are horror/romance (Lol). but serious...... nothing silly. sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night but don't recall a dream. Probably a good thing I guess. And yes.. I do often think what if some of it is a view to reality?

I think waking up and finding out that there was a zombie outbreak would be pretty creepy. That, or a raptor attack. I've never really had nightmares though, so I couldn't really wake up to one.

my worst nightmares play out like horror video games and usually consist of me trying to escape with or save either someone in my family or one of my best friends. I'll usually wake up in a cold sweat and can barely contain the desire to pick up my phone and call them just to make sure theyre ok. This has happened quite a bit especially lately since jared almost got hit by a bus while chasing an escaped frisbee not long ago. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life. Idiot. He's lucky I didn't kill him when the bus failed.

so I had the weirdest dream last night. In it, I got a tattoo on the left side of the small of my back. It was three triangles put together to make one triangle. In each of the triangles there was a different symbol, but I didn't know what any of them meant. I didn't even know why I got the tattoo. It was creepy. My brain has produced some weird stuff over the years, but that takes the cake.
