DREAMS CAN SOMETIMES MEAN SOMETHING?
I COUPLE OF YRS AGO I HAD A DREAM WHERE AND ANGEL TOLD ME THAT HE WAS THE ANGEL GOD HAD ASSIGN TO PROTECT ME. IN THE DREAM HE CRIED AND TOLD ME THAT PRETTY SOON I WOULD STOP PRAYING, FASTING, AND GOING TO CHURCH.
I WAS CONFUSED, SO IN THE DREAM I TOLD HIM TO HAVE ME WAKE UP TO THEN FALL A SLEEP AGAIN TO SEE HE.

I SURE DID WAKE UP, MY BROTHER WOKE ME UP AND I WENT BACK TO SLEEP TO SEE IF I WOULD SEE HIM AGAIN.
I DID SEE HIM AGAIN.
THE ANGEL ASKED ME IF I WAS STILL CONFUSED? I CRIED AND ASKED HIM IF I COULD JUST STAY. HE SHOW ME A HUGE DOOR, SO HUGE THE CLOUDS COVER IT. HE SAID THAT WAS WERE GOD WAS, BUT I COULN'T GO IN THERE YET.

I FINALLY WOKE UP AND I PRAYED FOR MERCI, I DIDN'T WANT TO STOP SEEKING GOD.
I WAS 17 WHEN I HAD THAT DREAM...AT 18 I STOP GOING TO CHURCH.

ITS BEEN 5 YRS SINCE THEN AND, I RESENTLY WENT BACK TO CHURCH AFTER GOING THROUGH SO MUCH. I DON'T BLAME GOD FOR THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO ME, BUT THERE ARE MANY THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND YET.
SO I CAN SAY THAT GOD CAN COMMUNICATE WITH US IN OUR DREAMS.

YEAH, IT COULD BE POSSIBLE THAT THE PIZZA WE ATE THE NIGHT BEFORE WASN'T SO GOOD, BUT WHAT IF GOD WAS REALLY TALKING TO US AND WE JUST HAPPEN TO BLAME THE PIZZA WE ATE.

I once had a dream that I was a burning bush, and awoke with the thought that I was supernatural. Then the pain in my stomach reminded me that more likely the dream was the result of simply eating pizza to close to bedtime...

Dreams are fickle things.

Peace

I would take that as a prophetic dream from the Lord...

I don't understand your point. Are you saying that if we don't remember our dreams and analzye them that we are in trouble spiritually?

I thought sleep was a time of rest, not more work.

No I am not.

I'm personally not sure what I believe in this completely so I was trying to spur on a discussion.

Thanks, those were the verses I was thinking of exactly.

Whispering, may I ask what it is you partially believe in about your post? Why you thought to ask about it?

I'd just like to take a moment to caution everyone about our TOS 16. Due to the seriousness of the issue of dream interpretation and the lack of accountability and supervision by duly appointed spiritual leaders in an online setting we do not allow this form of ministry in our Community.

In other words, please do not tell our members what you think a dream may mean.

For more on this policy please read our Terms of Service

This whole thread belongs in the dream world.

I am sorry but in no way are we responsible for what happens in our dreams, they are not reality.

I would caution any new believer who might read this thread to not become under any bondage to this. It is hard enough to crucify the flesh and keep your body under submission without trying to control things when you are not even concious.

I think the answer is if he so chooses, based on the way your question is worded. The verse in Joel, I believe it's chapter 2 verse 28 where it is written, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions, is that talking of a sleep state, or is that talking of hopes and or aspirations for the future? Perhaps argument can be made for either or both. If you observe a practice of praying before you retire, what is your reason for doing that? God uses a variety of things to get our attention in whatever state of consciousness we are in. The other day I was flipping the radial dial to find the news and stopped on a song that basically said it's enough, more than enough that Jesus died and provided me with life. I was touched in that moment and faced the question, David, do you pray for things out of want, entitlement, or are they real things that are needed in this life, would it be enough for you that Jesus died and provided you eternal life, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.. Now, there's one to ponder folks. These are great questions, and just to think, posed by another Michigan resident.. :) We're everywhere..

I do believe we are responsible for the actions we take in dreams, I know some are unavoidable and some are not.

I believe if we have sexual dreams where were a man striping a woman of her cloths in our dreams then we need to think about how we are acting in our every day lives, and I think we need to repent of it when we awake. This is just an example to show how we can be responsible for our dreams.

I do not know if someone could make a commitment of salvation in a dream but I do think it's possible, this is why I posed the question to get others opinions on it. Most (myself included) believe infants and young children are heaven bound upon death but some believe we were created in sin and have to repent to get to heaven regardless of our age so thats why I pose the question asking if you think someone could make a commitment to the Lord in a dream because maybe the opportunity is put to those to young in their dreams to make that commitment in the waking world.

Whisperingwaters,
Thanks for posting back to my question. If by test you are talking (and I am being at most sensitive here and not being light of this at all) about God deciding the eternal home of a young child, an infant, or one that almost survived birth... then I'm hearing you and I do not know. I haven't looked for a Biblical answer for this. If you've lost someone like that, or are friends with someone that has, I don't know what could be best to say or do. I'd just be in prayer about it first, and then take action in love.

If there's more to why you posted than this, I have no answer for you either. I've heard of people trying to capture their dreams on paper in a journal by their bed, and to make sense of them. Then there's people like me that only remember some of them, and only briefly, and then they are gone before my brain is cognitive enough to think much.

Well if you look at the dreams that Daniel had ... and Solomon ... and Joseph ... I would say it's possible. I actually experienced a healing in a dream (though I didn't realize it was a lasting healing until time past and I remained healed) and I know of one lady who is now a missionary who came to know Christ as a result of dreams she had. God can choose any medium He chooses ...

But I am pretty sure most of the dreams we have are not terrible significant ... and if you are having a dream about committing a terrible sin, it is more than likely just your subconscious working something out ... and some of the weirder ones the result of indigestion.

edited to add ... I am pretty sure the Holy Spirit will prompt you to take notice of any you have He wants you to pay attention to .. but be careful with reading too much into something. There is a danger in thinking something is of God based on our own feelings about the matter, when it isn't. The best solution when someone has a disturbing dream is to take it to the Father and see if He has anything to say about an area in your life. If whatever you think He is saying to you lines up with scripture ... do it.
