Yes, in essentials unity--however, the essentials are laid out nicely in the Nicene Creed. Christina, please do not take this the wrong way, but you are not going to find a Christian church that agrees with your concerns. Can you go to the pastor of the church you were last attending with your troubles?

I don't see what notes can be gotten together when Scripture is clear Jesus is God.

You may want to re-read my OP, earthless. The purpose of this thread is not to question or debate doctrine.

ORIGINAL: ChristopherJ In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity (Christian love). This is what I practice. I consider essentials to be issues about Christ's deity and salvation, as is mentioned in the creeds. There are lots of things that aren't spelled out really clearly in the Bible, and I believe liberty should be given on these issues... after all, all interpretations of them contain assumptions and the traditions of men because God didn't choose to spell them out. And of course, Christ's love should shine through us in all things- whether among believers or nonbelievers. I attend a reformed demonation (PCA) where I don't believe in some of their practices and I think they miss some scripture that balances out certain subjects. However, this congregation is the most mature, unified congregation that I have ever seen or heard of. I am priviledged to be a part of it, even with me not understanding certain doctrines they hold to. You see, within their wrong, they aren't all talk and they have more correct than any other congregation I know of (both in talk and action)... and I've seen quite a few unhealthy congregations that hold to a better interpretation of those same doctrines. Those unhealthy congregations may have a better handle on that particular doctrine, but they mess up other doctrines or they don't live out the doctrines they profess! One other thing that affects my attitude on being able to attend this church is that I am well aware that I have lots of maturing left to do. I have learned massive amounts over the seven years I have been seriously getting to know God without filter, and I recognize that I will know Him better as time goes on. My doctrine will change because there are things I am wrong about, but I just don't know what things, yet. If I knew I'd believe differently. But I have the tools to recognize a false teaching (knowing more and more of God as I study, experience Him, and pray,) the revelation from God to guide me, and the Holy Spirit to steer me. I am confident that He will complete me and guide me away from false teachings into His image over my lifetime.

I think *certain* doctrines will change, but certain fundamentals shall remain unchanged because those are the ones that are very clearly evident in the Bible. Like the deity of Christ. I have been a Christian since I was 5 or 6, and I've had a more "adult" relationship and understanding for about 10 years. Who would just up and change their mind away from mainstream Christianity at that point?

That's not what I mean... What I mean is more like this: God is a certain way and Truth is set. That's what true doctrine is. I may not understand God or Truth and may believe that a true teaching in a mainstream church is false doctrine. However, as I grow and mature, I will be closer to knowing God and Truth fully. Doctrine doesn't change, but me discerning which doctrine is of Him will change. The opposite has happened to me as well... I was taught a certain doctrine by a mainstream church and as I read my Bible and really search out what God said, I learned that the church was 100% wrong in that area. And which "mainstream" church are we going to go with? The one that denies Church Discipline in favor of love or the one that follows loving Church Discipline? The one that baptizes Believers or Covenantal Infants? The one that teaches God is unchanging or the one that teaches God of the OT was wrathful and God of the NT is loving? I'm not speaking of turning from the what God reveals in the Bible, but rather getting closer to it.

An acceptable sacrifice for us could only be complete man and complete God.
