I bolded the part in my question where I said, 'why or why not?' which is what Ed responded to. That would be a definite reason why not in some opinions.
It's easier for you to say that because you have already gotten to have children. It is different for those of us who have never had any. Also, I have seen many ads for adoption agencies that put no age limit on the adoptive parents.

Oh, I know that, but what I was trying to say was that it was easier for someone who already had the joy of having kids to make the cut and dry decision to not take those risks, whereas someone who has not had kids, while prayerfully and carefully would take those risks into account, still cannott deny their own longings and desires which for some reason God may not have yet taken away. In other words, someone who had kids already has already had maternal fulfillment, they've been there done that, but some people in spite of their age, who haven't had that fulfillment still long for that.

But I am 58 now, so I would be at least 60 when I had a kid and that would make me in the upper 70's when they finish high school.
I would just like to add......my dad is in his 70's and my little sis is 19 years old......he was married before....and has kids from that marriage......in their 50's to us....and down to 19. Yeah.....my dad didnt do things w/my little sis that he did w/us, or his older children. But....my dad is still a wonderful father!!!!! My little sis has kept my parents young, and they were able to expose her to soo much more then they did us, as they were more financially stable!!!

No more babes for me. If I re-marry, we will definitely be on the same page there. Step children in the mix are fine, though.
