Donna, With the situation the way it is, I would absolutely not put any kind of lock on Nick’s door which could lock him in. All sorts of terrible things could be implied and then trumped up. Just don’t do it. There is a solution to the problem with Nick and the bedroom. Put up curtain rods on three sides of your bed and hang curtains. Pull them around the bed during private times. Hang a bell on Nick’s doorknob, so you will hear the bell ring if he gets up and goes into your room. The curtains could look very pretty and romantic. No one would even realize their practical use. Ask around if anyone has extra curtains or fabric that you could use. You could even use old sheets for a while, until you can save up for something pretty. quote:
ORIGINAL: zoebob I figured my post would be confusing. I meant that you could lock the door between your room and his and then he would have to exit and enter his room through the bathroom. The doors I was thinking of bungeeing together are the ones that go from your room to the bathroom and your room to his room. That way if he tried to open either one it would slow him down enough that you would hear him coming...especially if you also used a jam in the door between your bedroom and bathroom and the door from your bedroom and his room. Zoebob’s post gave me another idea. You could hang some hooks on either side of the door and one in the middle of the door. On those hooks, you could hang robes, night clothes or even pretty little wall decorations, like cross stitch pictures or something. At night, when things were romantic, you could use a bungee cord from hook to hook to keep the door closed. No one but you and Brian (not even Nick) would know what the alternate use of the hooks would be. Nick would probably never get up and notice, so it would just be your security against him walking in at an inappropriate time. quote:
ORIGINAL: peculiar_lady2 or you could fashion some kind or rope that you hang on his door handle and attach it to a screw in the wall (making it impossible to open the door) when you need to. I doubt they would even question a screw in the wall next to a door...and you can keep the rope in another place (like dresser drawer where they won't even see it) This would work with the above suggestion of having a hook on the wall that you hang a robe or something from. You could even just use the belt from the robe to tie to the doorknob and to the hook. I still like the romantic curtains idea, but the other ideas are significantly cheaper.

Yeah, Nike will probably get benadryl next time, although it really doesn't sedate her all that much. Ashley doesn't get knocked out from benadryl either. Irritating. I totally agree that you need to try the benadryl before you need the dog to be sedated, because some do get wired on it. I think the next time I see my vet I am gonna ask her if I can have a few benzos for Nike, because she is getting worse. She's ok if we're home, but if the boom booms happen when we're all asleep or when we're out, she gets so anxious that she poops in the house. She never used to do that. We've tried crating/confining her but she gets out of everything we put her in, so I'm thinking a good long nap is in order next time. I have the most miserable beagle on the planet right now. She gave herself a huge granuloma on her butt, so she is now wearing an Elizabethan collar. She hates it and is really depressed. She refuses to eat or drink with it on, so we take it off for a few minutes periodically throughout the day. She is also convinced that she is now handicapped and can't possibly go outside (either that, or she's embarassed to be seen by the dog across the street ), so we have to put her on a leash and coax her to walk outside as opposed to just letting her out the back door. She just lies on her cushion and looks at you with those pathetic beagle eyes. I feel bad for her, but OTOH it's pretty funny. Cute pics, Sarah. Donna, I didn't know Brian could look so serious. That is a really good picture. Praying for the job, Jen. It sounds like it would be perfect for you. We just got back from Goat Fest (little local event with demos, stuff for sale, etc.) and someone there was selling a hot maple BBQ sauce. They had tastes available, so the girls tasted it and liked it. I bought some along with a few other maple based sauces they were selling. My dh just tasted the BBQ, and I think we have a problem. He just told me I need to buy it by the gallon. That stuff was not cheap!

I like the curtains idea too! Cynthia is right. It would not be wise to make Nick ever thing that he has been locked in his room. Don't risk it. Wioth the way that he likes to make up stories, it could be really bad.

I have a question. Rebekah has started peeing her bed more, and lately has been peeing her pants and leaking. It is smelly. She is otherwise fine and dandy. What kind of things can I check or treat her for myself? I would like to try doing stuff myself first. I don't think that she would take kindly to a dr examining her private areas. I would like to avoid it if this something that I can help her with. OR do I need to take her to the drs. I also hate how quick many drs are to prescribe antibiotics that seem to bring on yeast infections and tummy troubles.

Lisa, one of the big red flags for a UTI is day/night wetting in a toilet trained child. She needs to see her doc. They are not likely to examine her privates. They will ask for a urine sample and dip it.

I was afraid of that, but I am glad that they won't examine her. I haven't come across this kind of thing much with the kids. Will cranberry juice or capsuls help?

I've seen commercials for a new test at home strip for UTI. I think Azo or someone like that makes them

If only. No, it was simple carelessness that has caused my house to fill with smoke.

I have another question: We are making Sarah a ballet barre. We don't know how high to put it. Does anyone know how to determine that?

I am sure you could Google it, but I would just run into the local studio and measure, lol.

yeah, I will try to google it. I was thinking that it might have something to do with how tall they are. I will see if google will answer my question and not just show me where to buy them for outrageous prices.

It's hard to explain, but there's nothing to hook to there. quote:

The one we are switching Hannah to works behind the hospital. Hannah has seen her several times. She has a little girl Hannah's age and a new baby boy. She is WONDERFUL with kids and with parents. Very thorough and not condescending. My mom works in that office and she has also told me they see several large hs family there, so they are used to that end also. We'll be bringing the new baby there (boy or girl ) because they are willing to work with me on spreading out vaccines too. Lisa, would Consecrated Lisa or Emily know about the barre height?

I guess we will be celebrating my birthday tomorrow. I think that I may ask for chocolate ice cream for my dinner. It is one of the few things that I can actually taste. seriously. LOL...I have found that I can taste things like chocolate ice cream and brownies better then just about anything else...lol quote:
If I was Sarah, I would be anxious to be pregnant again. if only pregnancy only came with that added bonus and not all the other life threatening (for me) complications. One thing I like about NOT being pregnant is actually not feeling hungry all the time....hopefully that means I can actually start losing weight now and get back down to the size I was between the girls...or better yet, before kids...I would be glad with the size I was between the girls though. Three babies in four years has really made my body not so ready to get pregnant again for a while though...if at all again.

Strange things going on where I work. We've had a hard time getting enough staff and the hospital allowed us to hire a rent-a-tech for third shift for the summer. I met him two weeks ago, nice guy, probably 40 years old. Anyway, last Monday he called to say he'd be late and then called back to say he wouldn't be in. No one has heard anything from him since and he's not answering his phone. The agency is concerned for his safety because he's never done anything like this before, and he's been with them for years. His name is Ted if anyone wants to pray for him.

.if at all again. So, you might not have an even half dozen? I always thought you were gonna make it to 6. I have a lot of medical problems when pregnant...my kidney's basically don't function properly when pregnant. So for us to have one more will take God giving us peace about it....also it would mean we would have to get a larger vehicle. Our van holds what we have now, no more. Hubby doesn't exactly make a lot with the military pay and our van is fully paid for, so that means adding another bill (car pmt) to the monthly budget...not the easiest thing for us right now. So logistically it would be hard. If we get pregnant then we know God will work it out, but we also have to think about these kinds of things too.
