Ladies, what do you think would be a neat way to be proposed to? Men, what do you think would be a neat way to propose? I always thought it would be neat to be walking on the beach with the guy, and all of a sudden, he says, "Look at the bottle in the sand," It would be rigged ahead of time, of course, and there would be a message in it saying, "Will you marry me?'

Actually, I think it would be the sweetest thing in the world to be proposed to just out of him not being able to hold back his feelings anymore and his words would just tumble out every which way, sweetly awkward and totally "un-rigged"...to see a man be that tender and real would just touch my soul, better than any elaborate, planned proposal. But then, I am SUCH a hopeless romantic type, totally silly, like you just DON'T even know. (((( sigh ))))

I definitely like the idea of him having thought about it and some planning ahead is certainly OK but too much rigging I think would seem kinda cheesy to me. The spur of the moment thing would also be fine as long as he is not JUST being impulsively affected by a romantic moment but KNOWS WITHOUT A DOUBT that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

I've got to sigh again on that one..... (((( sigh ))))

I honestly can't say I've given much thought to how I would want to propose. It's one of those things that depends on who the woman is that I'm proposing to. I would just want to put some thought into it and come up with some way that she would appreciate and would make her feel special and loved.

I could definitely see myself doing something very creative. A friend of mine recently took advantage of a birthday party celebration for his unsuspecting girlfriend to get some of his closest friends in the ministry together. Part of the fun was to hand fortune cookies out to everyone but he had a marriage proposal put in the one he handed to her. So, after everyone finished reading their fortune cookie, she read her's and of course he got down on one knee and proposed again. I thought that was such a great idea. Can you imagine how disastrous it would have been had he not carefully guarded THE fortune cookie (lol).

I always enjoy witnessing and hearing about those public proposals. They're very creative and sweet. For me, though, I'd prefer something private. I'm not too particular about how he would go about it--just prefer that there not be an audience.

Nope - done too many times - I want something creative. But, I don't know why I'm even thinking about this - I doubt I'm going to ever get married - so I'll never get to experience a proposal. The one person who DID want to marry me wasn't allowed to because of his being arranged in his country of birth (this was pre-salvation days).

I'm gonna kinda second what Barry said - it would depend very much on my would-be fiancee and how our relationship had developed. I would want it to be something uniquely us. (Which, of course, means paying attention to all the little moments along the way in the growing relationship.) I do know I would likely propose in private. -Robb

I actually like the way Broyce and LabGuy answered the question. That shows to me that they are willing to get a feel for how the girl would like to be proposed to.

I honestly have never thought about this before. But now that you got me thinking, I think it would be great if my man, whoever he will be, would take me hiking up a few hours to reach the summit of a certain mountain, and there would be a picnic arranged at some lookout point, complete with wine and granola bars, lol. OF course, during the hike, we'd talk about how much we enjoy each other's company and there'd be no one else he'd rather go hiking with than me. Then as we're settling and getting comfortable while watching the sunset, or actually, sunrise would be better (wait, wine wouldn't go with breakfast...ah, never mind the details, as long as there' s picnic basket, that's all good, lol), he'd propose to me. That would be really really romantic.

Don't give up all hope. I'm sorry for what happened with the guy with the arranged marriage. Part of me thinks he should have said "to heck with it," and eloped with you anyways, but since you weren't a believer then, and I take it he also wasn't, the way it did work out was probably for the best.

And yes, he wasn't a believer either, so it did all work for the best. My hope is in God, period.
