9000 PCs in Swiss schools will switch to Ubuntu only.

Russian OS”, installed in every school in the country by 2009.

Geneva schools completely switch to Open Source

All schools In Denmark switching to Linux

Indiana Schools take the Linux plunge

Schools in Kerala ready for switch to Linux

South Korean schools switching to Linux

Italian schools switch to Linux

German trains switch to Linux on mainframes

Chilean government moves to Linux in high schools

This school in California by switching to Linux cut their costs from $100000 to $2500. ...

Thanks for the info, JonCo54. This is so encouraging. One of the many reasons that we should push Linux is Linux OS can run on all the PCs which are running Microsoft OS. And a lot of the old PCs are abandoned, not because they can't run, but just because the hardware is too outdated to run the latest MS OS. But interestingly most of these hardware, with out-dated architecture, slower CPU, and limited memory and HD capacity, can run different kinds of Linux smoothly. It's so ashamed to see how environmentally unfriendly MS OS are. :-(

You are so right. If people knew that they could bring life back into their older computers it would cut down on the recycling process. I know of people who are running Linux on a 486, PI, PII, PIII and so on. They either give them to their kids or donate them. This would help the environment greatly.
