The UN has been in place for almost 50 years and what has that organization done to bring health, a solid infastructure, and stability to that continent; NOTHING. And look at the countries that sit on the UN's human rights commision. Not the most compassionate countries.

Rest assured...If Bush had ignored Iraq and sent forces to Africa the outcry from the left would have been just as great and the USA would have been just as big a Satan as we are today. Bob

ORIGINAL: Leon_Figg3 One day Africa will be seen as just important as the rest of the world. Until then, I quess it is up to other, common every day people throughout the rest of the world, to do what they can to have some affect on what goes on there, and let the people there know they have not been forgotten. What common everyday people would that be? Americans, of course. Through missionary endeavors, World Vision, child sponsorship, etc. And the U.S. gov't, which as I said before has given more foreign aid and done more for Africa than any other nation. Yet Africa is still Africa.

backrowbaptist, I am in aggreement with you, except in that I do not see us Americans being the only people who care to do something about the things going on in Africa. I would imagine, and hope, that there are others throughout the world just as concerned, and just as able to work either through missionaries or their governments. I quess the sentiment I was trying expressing was that someday, military action, by Western powers, may become the only option to resolve Africa's situation. Until that time comes we must push for change in Africa any way we can. It is only going to be through outside intervention, on many levels, that the situation in Africa will change.

If all we do is rebuke verbally those involved and do nothing else...... Then we are impotent and useless.
