One has to make an effort to try to make the fair city of Huntsville look bad.
I appreciate the effort and social commentary here , but it is hardly a comprehensive look at the Rocket City. Clinton Avenue and Governor's Drive have much finer sections as well as those shown in the video.
I love "Minnie the Moocher" for background music, smooth editing and special effects are not overdone--overall well done.
If you have three minutes of boredom to relieve, this one might help.

I was at that baked potato thread earlier today so i went shopping for potatoes, onions and also some steaks etc so I'm going to have to go cook a while.
I'll probably be back and forth a while.

What baked potato thread? There's a food thread and I haven't posted in it?

Have you tried cutting the patoto in half and putting the slice of onion between the halfs and wrapping it all in foil and baking. Makes for good eats.

I read your post...wow, no way! The wintery guesstimation is amazingly similar.
I washed the potatoes, sliced a big yellow onion and wrapped the onion slices in foil with the potato, each in its own "packet" as you say.
The oven's on about 500 with steaks in a pyrex skillet, salted, peppered and drowned in some generic store-brand marinade with a bottle of KC Masterpiece waiting to hit 'em when they're done. I put the wrapped potato/onion packets in on the sides of the pyrex skillet. The sliced yellow onion looked juicy enough to flavor the potatoes a little. At some point I'll go turn the steaks over.
Sounds delish. You go ahead and enjoy that. I'll just finish my bowl of cold cereal...
I'm really having pasta salad but I didn't figure that had the same pity factor.

Wintery I don't know if I have said before but I was born and raised in Huntsville and you are so right. There is Redstone Arsenal and it is fast becoming a hub for the electronics industry. I love Huntsville.

Being from their I can say the video does not depict Huntsville as it really is. Although I do believe I recognized Butler Terrace a government housing project. The video only showed the more seedy side of my home town.

I have thought about getting a video camera and walking from up Washington Street from The Four Seasons up to State Street. It would be fairly interesting, well a little bit anyway.

I don't think I am descended from John Hunt but my family, at least one side of it, was among the first setlers in the area. There is a large section at the foot of the mountain my family used to own and some os it is still in the family. You might have heard of Bailey Cove. It is where Grissom High School is located.

Oh yeah, heard of it. Well, ancestry and two bucks will get us a cup of lousy coffee! Anyway the developments, malls, the new theater...folks watching that video have no idea.
I like to visit Cheeburger Cheeburger in a shopping center at the corner of Airport Road and Whitesburg Drive.

Yep and across the street, Airport Blvd., beside the grocery store there use to be a fantastic Chineese restaurant. Hunan 2 I believe was the name.
