I speak, read, and understand three to varying degrees (English and Spanish natively, Russian high-intermediate after 7 years of study in a completely non-Russian environment). I suppose I can read any written in the Latin or Cyrillic alphabets.

I actually changed it twice. The first time, I changed it from looking almost identical to what the "cursive template" is . . . It was also around the time that I was learning calligraphy, and the two just seemed to kinda go hand-in-hand.

I love these pens! In fact, I haven't been able to find the purple pens lately (except when included in an assorted colors pack - and I don't want that) . . . so when I saw three 6-packs of these pens when I was in Jackson last month, I bought all three packs!
And just for a bonus bit of information . . . I keep all my pens stored point-down (with the caps on), so that the ink flow is always immediately available and I keep all my pencils point-up to keep the points clean so that when I use them, they don't mess up my paper.
Except for my note to Kyrillos at the beginning of this post, this has mostly been quite useless . . . but nonetheless, fun to post.

I LOVE the RSVP pens. My absolute favorites!!!!!! I like the fine point pens. I think I write neater in fine point. And the purple is also my favorite.
My mom bought me a pack of purple RSVP pens one year for my Christmas Stocking. hehehe
I can't find the purple packs anymore either. I settle for getting a variety of colors and let others use the other colors.
I think I found a package of them online once, maybe on staples website or something. I never bought them though.
When I was in college, all I used was the RSVP pens in purple for my notes. I occassionally used a different color for added emphasis.

My handwriting changed when I learned Calligraphy, too. About....24yrs ago. And I normally write "backhand" but can get the correct slant when I care to. Which isn't often, I prefer backhand. And, yes, I like my handwriting. My favorite pen is the G-2 fine point gel in black. It's so authoritative looking.

I tried to learn calligraphy once. I was not successful. I didn't try very hard, but I was very frustrated with it. I think it's my lack of artistic talent (and patience) that prevented me from enjoying it.

I love writing in calligraphy. Somehow I can do that, but my regular handwriting is pretty inconsistent. It's just all over the place, and according to my kids, it's "atrocious." I don't think it is. LOL! But somehow I've had to get in the habit of printing grocery lists since they have difficulty reading my cursive.
Frankly, I used to write a lot better until I had to write so much in a short period of time. I think it destroyed what decent handwriting I had. But I'm still indifferent to it. Anything really important, I print on the computer, so I guess I don't care to improve.

Good point. When I'm writing in calligraphy, I definitely think of it as something artistic. When I'm just writing, it's purely practical.

I LOVE LOVE these pens.... the purple medium is my fave.... I just like mediums.... no clue why....
I think I'm starting to have a thing for GREEN, too.... It bums me out here at work.... whenever I sign or fill out something 'official', I am required to use BLUE ink!

When I was learning calligraphy, my instructor told the class that it actually didn't matter if one had good handwriting or not to do calligraphy; and that in fact, most people who did beautiful works of calligraphy really didn't have that good of handwriting.
I don't know if that little tidbit is true or not, but I always found it interesting.

I actually had to go buy some black, fine-point pens . . . R.S.V.P., of course . . . because black, fine-point pens are the only kind allowed to be used on state sales tax reports (otherwise, the computer system they feed the reports through might reject the report). Those reports are the only thing I use those goofy black pens for.

My handwriting is so bad that even I can't read it at times. (Or maybe it's just the way I put the words together... ) I mean when I look at a word and wonder "What IS that word?" you know there is a problem.
But I have noticed that it is a little better when I use a pencil rather than a pen. Knowing I can erase a mistake must make a difference.

I am also a "lefty," but I write with my hand in about the position that "righties" position theirs. When my left hand was not injured, I had very good handwriting, but now, it hurts to write, making my handwriting awkward. Being somewhat ambidextrous, I am going to practice writing more with my right, especially for work.

It differs mainly in that many of my lowercase letters (a, b, e, g, h, k, m, n, p, r, v, w, and z) are small forms of capital letters, and my Q of the capital letters is a large form of lower case Q.
Well, that's way more than anyone wnated to read, but handwriting is one form of art that I enjoy -- without the injury, anyway.

Shar-Mar ... I meant to say ... I don't think you were dating yourself when discussing the letters on the wall. I had those in elementary school too. I could NEVER write that nicely. My letters never turn out as nice as they are supposed to.
With my conscious effort to write more nicely, my handwriting has become more consistent and legible lately.

I've taught myself to be ambidextrous just in case my klutzy self ever breaks my right arm though considering my natural righty handwriting is so abismal, my left is hardly legible.

.... Okay... I just had to get out some letters from CW people that I have floating around.... I have to say.... I find all of the handwriting heart-warming...
I wonder if sometimes finding handwriting attractive actually has to do with the circumstances and effort put into it... and especially the person doing it?

That's a good point Rachel.
My right hand was in a sling for 6 weeks in 1991 and I had to write with my left hand. Go figure ... it was the first 6 weeks of 6th grade. What a great impression to make on new teachers in a new school when you're already nervous.

..... My daughter used to have wonderful handwriting.... (this was a long while ago) we went through a house fire... and ever since then... her hand writing was terrible...
The teacher even called me in to complain about it....
I let the teacher have it (I was just a little angry)... sometimes tragedies affect us all differently...

Along the lines of what Rachel says, I think handwriting says a lot about who's writing.
My handwriting's careless and quick (some would say messy) just like me.
My best bud's writing is clear and thought-out-- very organized just like him.
Or maybe it's just the time it takes for me to write my full name, 17 letters, compared to his 9. hahahahaha!!!!

..... I always hated signing my entire name....
A few years ago... I changed my signature to something WAAAAY shorter... it freaked people out.... lol!
Now I have a new last name... I can't quite figure out how to shorten it up!!! lol! ;o)
Oh yeah... I forgot why I started posting!
My sister's handwriting is carefree... just like she is.... and I think her handwriting is so beautifully artistic!! I'm sure yours is much the same, Mav....

If I signed my entire name it would be 9+7+5 letters. That's 21 letters. TOO LONG! With just my first and last it's 14 letters. Still too long I think. I might shorten in in a few months when my last name changes. I havent' decided yet. But I want a new signature ... mine takes too long to sign, esp when doing things like loan and lease paperwork.

My handwriting can be neat and tidy but it can be really bad at times too.
I don't write often now because it hurts my hand to hold a pen for too long and write neatly.
