Depends on the day of the week and how fussy either my wife or I are being. This is my 2nd marriage, her first, but together, we have four kids, my three, her one, that alone some times makes me wish I was still single. But all in all, when things go well, they go really well and I appreciate her and the gift that God has given me with her.

I made the best of my single life. But being married is so much better there is no comparison. I looked at being single as living with a disability. I married my wife at 37 and we will be married for 20 years next month.

I can't say. I love being married and I loved being single. Each has great things. I love my husband and he is awesome and I loved being single. I had a lot of responsibility when I was young, so I am actually more free married than I was single.

I prefer marriage over being single any day! Being married has the gift of peace of mind, love and devotion, and partnership until death. Being single is like preparation for marriage. Marriage has it's challenges, but they are bearable because God is backing you up and you have your spouse to face the challenges with. Being single, you don't have that privelage while dating. Your boyfriend or girlfriend isn't obligated to stick around or help you with anything. You don't have the peace of mind because technically, this person isn't really "yours". I know some of you may say "Well some commited relationships are loving and devoted like marriages " and "Marriages fail too". In response to that, commited relationships don't have the same devotion of a marriage because if they did, you'd be married. And marriages were never intended to fail. God doesn't even allow adultery as a proper excuse to end a marriage. Till death do you part.

Single life was fun but it doesn't compare to being married. I prefer marriage over single life.

While both have their ups and downs, I have to say the the happiest times I remember in my life are from when I was single. I always enjoyed being single. If anything were to happen to my husband I seriously doubt that I would ever remarry or even look ot be in anything close to a serious relationship. I am definitely much happier in a single state.

When I was single I wanted to be married. Now that I'm married I don't want to be single. You figure it out.

ORIGINAL: laura... A good marriage is better than singleness. Singleness is better than a bad marriage. I agree with Laura. There were things about being single that I hated and others that I enjoyed. I hated being alone but weren't going to settle in a bad marriage either. I'd rather be single than in a bad marriage. Thankfully I'm in a great marriage! Yep, marriage is better.

I can say that I have faced all three things. I have been in a bad marriage, been single and now in a very good marriage. Even after the bad marriage, I still prefer to be married. At the end of the day, I have someone other then a 5 year old to tell my troubles to or how good things are.

You know, that is a really tough question for me. I was married a long time. There were many parts of being married I like much better than being single, but there were many parts of my marriage that were so bad, single is a much better place for me to be! The "gift of peace of mind", for me, definitely came with being single again. While I don't have someone backing me up as a single, I didn't as a married either. I would love to be married, but I am content being single and would choose singleness over my previous marriage, hands down!

"It is not good that the man should be alone". Therefore, I will say married. I am clinging to this truth through a very difficult time. The posts in this thread have been an encouragement to me. Please pray for us.

I'm an only child and I actually really like being alone - more and more all the time since I am so rarely alone anymore. I crave alone time, I think, more than normal people. There are times when I remember how nice it was to live alone in my CLEAN little house! Life was infinitely simpler when I was single, for sure. It would be easy to selfishly say single was better - for all the selfish reasons, it was better for me and my personality. But life now, chaotic and messy, is wildly more fulfilling, though. It's a challenge for me to live outside those comfort zones and the place where I controlled everything. I'm so much more of a person for investing myself, my time, my energies into this marriage and this family and I think that's the point. I could've lived a very easy, comfy life single, quite frankly. Could've done everything my way and could've been ME. But taking that leap brought me to this place where I can't control everything, I have to share everything (nothing is sacred for a mommy), and I need to be so much more than me and do so much more than I ever thought I could've before.

Single. More freedom and I'm too selfish.

Honestly, right now I prefer being married! But God has me "in waiting" for a reason so I'm waiting for Him to do a make-over in me while He is preparing my husband to put up with me and my quirks! But doing it backwards (kids first) I want to be married NOW. BUT God's got me and I shall wait! Live in the Light! *** Whatever is in the dark will eventually come to the light! God said "Let there be light" and it was so! He sent His Son to shine upon us! ;~)
