What is something you said you would never eat, but did either by accident, under duress from someone else, or maybe your tastes changed? alligator, eel, octypus, etc.

Escargot was mine.

Squid.

But, when in Italy back in the mid-70s, a friend ordered some and they didn't look disgusting. I tried one and have been hooked ever since. Just last Friday I had a plate of Calamari at Red Lobster!

He was the sheep my brother raised and even though I grew up on a farm, I could never eat an animal we named. One day, I was hungry and looking for a snack when I find some yummy looking meat and I have a little.

Apparently is was Barney. I almost threw up...

Eggs...I learned to deal with them when I started Atkins and have sort of made peace with them, as long as their scrambled and soaked in butter, syrup, or something to cover up the egginess of them. And if I can cloud my mind as to what they really are.

Rutabagas.

When I was a kid, I thought rutabagas were gross. On a lark several months ago I bought and cooked some. Now I like them!

I dunno why...

When I was doing weight watchers I gave myself a point every time I ate broccoli. I taught myself to like it and now I really do.

I tried sushi once and thought it was gross.
I have also tried thai food which was ok.
Once at a restaurant I ordered smelt which was nasty.

I tried sushi once too. Now I can say I've tried it. That's about all I got out of that experience...

(ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but I still didn't like it)

I tried grits for the first time and liked them. However, I will probably only eat the grits that my friend makes and no one else's.

I also tried mustard and like it.

okra is one of those odd foods that depends on how it's cooked.

Properly cooked is lightly breaded with corn meal (lightly, not individually coated) and fried in oil on a medium heat until golden brown.

All the snot gets cooked away.

Stewed or in soups...is definitely an acquired taste.

I forgot to put a food down.

I told my granny that I'd never eat swamp cabbage, but I finally did.

It was not as bad as I thought it would be. But I don't plan to eat it again.

Brussel sprouts were on my very short list of foods I don't like.

Until a girl I workout with told me to saute them with leeks in olive oil and put some balsamic vinegar and s&p on them. I like them now. . . my short list will someday disappear.

Asparagus--the only asparagus I was ever exposed to as a kid was the canned variety. I discovered in the last couple of years that I love fresh asparagus, grilled, or lightly sauteed with lemon and butter. (since then I have tried the canned variety again, and it is still gross)

Liver. No thank you, ma'am. If I'm going to ralph, it'll be because I ate too much of something I actually LIKED.
