Good Evening Everyone!

Boy are we tired! Today was very busy for us. We had a list of things we wanted to get done and most got done. My only 'problem' was priming the wood for a Fall Festival game and cutting the hole for the mouth. Jim's rechargable drill was pretty 'run down' and the can of spray paint I had was old and not useable. We have some canned white paint but just didn't get around to that after everything else got done.

Does everyone know about www.freecycle.com ? I gave away 35 VHS tapes, a pattern for cute Halloween costumes, a carpet cleaner and some small things off that today. You register for your town, county or local areas and can give away or ask for things you need. I got a car for a woman from New Orleans just by asking.

We cleaned the deck, repaired the garden hose, filled our fountain, cut the grass, washed the screen on the back door (puppy paws), cleaned out a cedar chest, cleaned one closet, swept and vacuumed the house, went to the dump, did laundry and took some items to the consignment shop, found a shirt for the Zorro costume, and more.

Now hubby's watching a ballgame, Nick's playing on his PS2 and the dog is asleep after chasing the cat, running around the back yard and jumping and then sitting in the bird bath! I kid you NOT!

Hope everyone has plans for church tomorrow! Our Heavenly Father is so good to us!

Diane

Hello Everyone and a Happy Lord's Day!

We had a wonderful service today. Hope everyone else did too. I didn't have many in Sunday School. I guess the chilly weather kept everyone under their warm quilts.

I'm so excited! I'm helping with the 'Fall Festival' and we are going to have a whole hallway just for the smaller children. It's how we did it years ago and now that attendance is SO high, around 700 kids, we really need a safe place for the smaller children. Hubby's cutting a mouth in my board as I type AND we've come up with two other games for 'our' room. Other teachers will 'man' other rooms and games. I do need to get busy and sew Joseph's coat of many colors and Zorro's cape.

I'm also excited because of an announcement soon to be made concerning our Hispanic Ministry. Shhhhhhhh....

We're going to Heritage Days at the county Ag Center with some other home schooling families from our church on Thursday and then going to a Haunted Corn Maze on Friday night in Rockmart with some of the same families. Nick is so excited. His best friends, Kelton and William, are both going.

Well, I have some church meetings this afternoon so enjoy this beautiful fall day!

Diane

Correction! At our planning meeting, the man who headed it up last year said 1,200 had actually come through the doors even tho we had contact info for 700 families.

Well Good Afternoon All!

Nick and I have had a busy day. Monday he has Home School Band at our church. While he had his lessons, I had gone through my summer and winter clothing, bagged up all that didn't fit or I don't wear anymore and took it to the consignment shop downtown. This weekend is their half price sale and one of their busiest weekends of the year. I did that last year and used the money I made for Christmas gifts.

I had a lady give me a nice child gate for me to use to keep puppy (think small horse) from certain rooms. I had one but I like keeping the windows open as long as I can during the year and a closed bedroom door stops the air flow. Now I have 3 gates so we're all set.

Tonight is visitation for my team. I had not chosen a team and asked that I be assigned where the need was the greatest so was put with our Youth Minister and the teens. That's outside my comfort zone since I feel led to work with the little kids. I've decided the Lord is expanding my comfort zone and it's not MY place to question HIS will! After all, Nick is almost 11 and will be moving into our youth group in just a year!

I hope everyone had a great day and that the Lord keeps you well.

I got the following by email today and wanted to share:

An Elder of the Cherokee Nation was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me.

It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.

The other wolf stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

This same fight is going on inside of every other person."

The children thought about his story for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The Elder simply replied, "The one you feed."

Welcome to Diane's thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

Good Evening Everyone....

I hope you've all had a lovely day. It's a bit warm for fall here in Georgia. The nights are pleasant tho.

I don't have any daycare children this week and it's amazing how quiet the house is! Nick does his work and practices his trumpet but even the puppy seems to be enjoying my time off! This is the first week I've had off in 16 months!

I've been working on some other games for our fall festival. The Toddler/ Preschooler Hall will have four rooms of games. One family is doing a basketball shoot. Jim and I have made a bean bag toss with a funny character and a big open mouth. I'm also making a 'toss' game out of painted coffee cans sort of like the old Bozo's Circus game. A church friend is bringing me a glass o.j. bottle for the clothes pin drop too. We have a golf/ putting return thingy and clubs too. Nick loves it and has played it for years. All we have to do for that is plug it in.

Well, I hope you all have had a blessed day and a pleasant evening.

Diane

Robert Frost

Whose Woods Are These I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Isn't this lovely? So peaceful too. I don't know why I'm thinking of snow tonight except I love the winter and miss our winters in Connecticut with silent snowfalls turning everything pure again.

Good Morning Everyone. I went to bed earlier last night with the beginnings of a head cold. We had a lot of kids and workers out from AWANA last night with illnesses so something is going around. I took a dose of NyQuil which always knocks me right out!

Nick and I are going to the Ag Center for Heritage Day today. Because of illness, the other families of his two best friends won't be going. One had to leave AWANA early last night with a fever and body aches. We're going to meet our Hispanic Minister's wife and their four kids and go on our own. Our Home School group is going at noon but they do the tour with a guide and that drives us CRAZY! I'd much rather do it alone instead of moving along slowly like herded cattle.

I'm almost finished with our games for the Fall Festival. I've decided I need some washers so the one game will last a long time. Nothing we've built has been 'fall' colors or themed so they can be used year round.

We're still hoping to do the Haunted Maze tomorrow night but it's supposed to rain. It's an 'after dark' activity so...... there'll be a nip in the air! I love fall!

Hope everyone has a productive and Christ filled day.

Diane

Wow. I'm overwhelmed. We went to the Ag Center today and then to a playground nearby. I was about to leave but my friend with 4 children needed to take her smaller son to the restroom, so I watched her other three..... We left soon after and had just missed a horrible accident that killed 3 men(so far). Both sides of the divided hiway are still closed, 2 hours later. We were detoured through some back country roads and could see only the 10 or so cars, ambulances, firetrucks and many, many police cars. I'm so thankful we were safe and also that we didn't witness the accident. Praying for those who lost daddies or were injured in the wreck.

Welcome to thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

Hello everyone. Trying this again. I get those 'time out' errors all the time. YUK!

I've had a busy day! I cleaned the carpet in two rooms and scrubbed the kitchen and 2 bathroom floors. I've still got two landings to mop but was waiting til everyone is 'upstairs' for awhile. I also ran errands, but our bank, post office and the electric company are all in one complex. The dry cleaners is only two blocks right down the street from there, so no big deal.

Tonight we're going to the Haunted Corn Maze at Carlton Dairy Farms in Rockmart, Georgia. The dairy is owned by a Christian family and the haunting isn't demonic or gorey. Just spooky. It's a 5 acre maze with 2 miles of trails AFTER DARK. It's less than 30 miles from here but it's an hour drive because it's a lot of country roads. Nick's so excited!

Hope everyone is enjoying this fall weather! I know I am!

God Bless!

Dear Me!
Big storms moved in and the corn maze closed. We'll try again tomorrow night. Nick was disappointed but it got REALLY foggy too and I think it would have freaked him out. LOL! We'll have to take heavy jackets tomorrow night. It's to really get cool.

Puppy got caught outside in the storm and was soaked! He's now asleep in my bathroom on his doggie bed. Poor Guy! I gave him some carrots. He loves them and they're cold and good for his teeth.

Enjoy your evening! We're watching 'Earth Versus the Spider!'

Brrrrrrrr........

Good Evening Everyone!

Hope everyone had a nice Saturday. Hubby had to work until almost 5:00.

We went to the Haunted Corn Maze and two families who went decided not to go through. Nick's best friend's family went in with us and we got about 30 feet into the maze and the three boys were ready to get out and go home! It was scarey! Not spooky but scarey. Think Freddy Kruger type scarey. The boys enjoyed visiting tho while we waited in line to buy tickets and then in line to be let in. There was easily 1,000 people there! $8.00 a head! We're in the wrong business. LOL

It's already down to 48° here with a low of 45° expected. I'm going to guess it'll be cooler than expected. I love the fall weather! I do NOT like summer. Too HOT!

We've got to finish the painting of our games tomorrow during the day. With the rain yesterday and this morning, we didn't think the paint would dry. I've found workers for 3 rooms out of 4 for our Fall Festival Preschool Hallway. The man head of the whole committee has people assigned to work the entrances to keep older children out so the little ones can enjoy some games aimed at their age without being pushed aside or stepped on. Most of the teachers are either already helping somewhere else or they work too late. Our Fall Festival is 6:00 - 7:30 but we set up and are fed between 5 - 5:30 and have to 'clean up' afterwards. Last year we had 1,200 people come through!

I hope everyone has plans to attend church Sunday!

God Bless and Good Night,

And a Happy Sunday Evening to everyone. Hope you enjoyed church today. I only had 4 kids in Sunday School. The powers that be had divided the four year old class because we have almost 45 on role but a lot never attend. More of the regulars are in the other class. It is a nice break for me, as I had the four year olds all alone last year and generally had 17 -22 every Sunday! I do like bigger classes tho.... but this is very peaceful. Maybe the Lord feels one of my children needs extra attention or I need a more laid back Sunday right now.

I enjoy reading the other blogs. I generally try to read them before posting anything. I think I may be the most boring blogger but then I have a pretty mundane life.

The weather warmed up enough for us to finish painting for the Fall Festival. A man at church brought me five more coffee cans this morning so I got most of those painted too. I've got my workers lined up. I had one teacher offer to do a 30 min. stint to relieve anyone who needed a quick break. The rooms we're using for Pre-School have bathrooms either IN the room or right across the hall. We're also right by where our hostess committee will be providing drinks and food for the families. We're expecting 1,700 - 2,000 this year because of how much our little town has grown. All the farm land is quickly becoming subdivisions that are more affordable than closer to Atlanta. That's one of the reasons we're here!

My eyes are really bothering me today! The ragweed is horrible! Hubby has such a hard time this time of year with his asthma and COPD.

My almost 4 year old daycare child returns from Ala. tomorrow morning at 5:45. Thankfully, I can go back to bed after he gets here. He's a real cutie pie. I've had him since he was in diapers. He's very southern and thinks all daddy's should have tractors and 18 wheelers.

Well, we're switching between baseball and some favorite shows and I'm very tired from not sleeping last night. OH.... the noise our son was making that woke me was him falling! He came in from work with a backache and twisted to get his toothbrush, his legs gave way and he fell on the bathroom floor. He said he was in such pain that he felt faint so he put a cold rag on his face until he could get up and get on a heating pad. He's worked 23 nights straight and is back at work tonight. WON'T go to the doctor!

Well, do have a lovely night and keep smiling!

Welcome to Diane's thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

And a lovely good evening everyone!

Monday's are always busy here. Nick has Home School Band from 11:00 - 12:00 at our church and Ty is always extra tired from not being on schedule all weekend. He also had spent the last 10 days with his grandparents in Ala. so he was wiped out!

We took our puppy to the groomers to get his nails filed down. They don't clip them but use a Dremel tool and round them off nicely for only $5.00! That's for front and back. Scooter slept on the floor in the front seat coming and going and we had him on leash so he checked out the kittens, snakes, turtles, fish and other puppies around the shop. He's sleeping next to my feet and will be ready for bed in the next hour or less.

It's pretty cool here! We're expecting near freezing temps the next few nights. I did turn on the heat but only to take the chill off the house. We'd had the doors opened for a while today but it's already down to 44° with 27 mph winds! Our house is well insulated so we really don't have to use the heat a lot. The Kudzu will all be dead once it hits 32° and people will find parts of their yard that had disappeared over the summer. LOL

Only one week til the Fall Festival! I'm pretty much all set. Jon does have to paint his figure drawn on one of the bean bag tosses and I have two costumes to finish sewing. One is a coat for Wednesday night. I've gotten the robe done and it's a pale blue. The coat is a multi colored material and I'm making a long vest like coat. He'll wear sandals. That's for Bible Character Night at AWANA. I've got to sew Zoro's cape. Everything else is bought or already owned. I found a ruffled black man's (wedding style) shirt to go under the cape and we got his sword and head covering at Party City. I've got black suede boots he can wear. His foot is slightly larger than mine but my boots are a little large on me because I got them to wear with extra socks up north. Cool! I'll take pictures of him both days. He won first prize as 'John the Beloved' last year.

Wishing everyone peaceful sleep and safety in God's hands....

Welcome to Diane's Thoughts

Whew..... busy, busy, busy!

I JUST finished Nick's costume for tomorrow night. IF he'll let me, I'll take a picture and post it tomorrow night. He's not much for photos. I made Joseph's coat of many colors with a 'robe' in pale turquois underneath and a multi colored coat of mauve, tans, greens, blues, etc. Guess how much it cost! Maybe I should wait til you see it to tell you but ......... $1.50 and about 20 mins. work total. Yep!

Now I need to make Zorro's cape. I have four yards of a good quality material (black satin) for it. Cost? $4.00. I also bought the man's black tuxedo type shirt with ruffles down the front at a consignment shop for $4.00 minus my credit and we got a plastic fencing sword and Zorro head covering/ mask at Party City. The whole costume will cost less than $10.00. He'll use my black suede boots and black blue jeans. I have enough of the material for a cummerbund too. At least I have a few days to get it cut out and sewn. This cape will take longer to sew than the coat of many colors just because of all the sections. Gotta do it right!

I made phone contacts for Sunday School today. I only found one family home and left messages for the others. Out of 15 children on role, I have 5 families who don't miss Sunday School. Sad.....

Tomorrow is AWANA. That's the reason for Joseph's coat of many colors. We have Bible Character Night the Wed. before Halloween each year. Nick won a prize last year for John the Beloved.

I'm still waiting for one thing to be completed for our Fall Festival! Jon is very talented and is going to draw something for me but he works horrid hours and is now on day 25 or 26 in a row!!! He's also hurt his back. He has an old injury from a car wreck years ago that flares up pretty badly about twice a year. Poor kid (29 in Jan.) can barely move when it's bad and he won't go to the doctor!

Well, I hope everyone had a lovely day and sleeps well tonight.

Here's a sample of Jon's art work. This is actually ink dots. Not ONE line other than his signature. I think he's very talented! Self taught, too.

Here's a quick photo of Nick's costume! Batteries were dying in my camera and it's pretty dark but......

He had to put a shirt under his robe and socks with his sandals because it's COLD here (for Georgia, that is)!

Welcome to Diane's Thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

So how is everyone tonight? Did you have Prayer Meeting? AWANA was a bit wild. We had a good number of teachers out. I'm told there's some tummy virus going around. I was needed to fill in two classes so we incorporated the two classes which was a bit much but we made it through. I didn't have to do a story tonight tho. It was game night.

I'm quite excited! Sunday night we're going to a FREE concert of Signature Sound at a church in Atlanta with some dear friends. We've heard them before but not with the same singers. They're the young guys who sing with the Gaithers. I LOVE the Gaithers!

Monday will be quite hectic but I don't have any daycare children from Thursday 4:30 p.m. until Monday 5:45 a.m. so I should be able to get all my things done and rest up! The church has decided to have us use the beautiful new preschool area for our preschool hall for the Fall Festival instead of some very plain rooms in the older section of our church. You can tour my Sunday School area here. www.fbcvr.com

I'm going to cut out the Zorro cape tomorrow and one of us will take Nick to see the new Zorro movie on Friday. We usually don't all go to save money but if hubby can sneak away during the afternoon, we could go to the matinee. We get senior tickets here for anyone over 50.

I hope everyone has a very nice night and a wonderful day in the Lord tomorrow!

Welcome to Diane's Thoughts
both deep and not so deep!

HELLO ALL!

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men...... I was to have off from today until Tuesday morning but a friend from church called and her husband has a second job interview during her part time job and asked if I could keep her 8 week old and 3 year old for a while tomorrow starting at 8:00 a.m. The baby is very precious and the 3 year old is all boy. If hubby gets that job, I'll be sitting for her Mon., Tues., and Fri. which is usually my day off right now. Nick will play with the 3 year old tho so I can still get some of my Friday chores done and visit here while they watch t.v.

My boys are watching 'The Never Ending Story II'. Puppy's already down for the night. He was getting a bit over excited and that means bed time. Again, he's HUGE for 5 months!

Can you believe how close it is to Christmas? I've bought for one grandchild. We also have a bunch of birthdays around Christmas too. One granddaughter turns 5 next week. Her present has been mailed. One grandson turns 3 in early Jan. and I've got all his shopping done. Our Jon turns 29 on Jan. 7th and Nick and I have a birthday on Dec. 29th.

I usually begin decorating quite early in the fall because we have so many decorations. Now I have a problem! The puppy loves to attack things and chew things so many of my 'pretties' will either have to find a new Christmas home or not be put out at all. We keep him out of the bedrooms and the formal living room but I usually decorate all over. We'll see how it goes.

Scooter will be going 'under the knife' in the next few weeks to be neutered. A local group does it for free for people under a certain income and we qualify. That's quite a blessing because it's so expensive!

My mother, aunt and uncle will be coming this way next week. Aunt Paulette sees a thyroid specialist in Atlanta and my mother will be heading to her vacation cottage to close it up for the winter. She'll go back to Mobile in a few weeks because her new home should be completed by then. I'm hoping we can see them while they're here. With them traveling during the week and my doing day care, it makes it very hard. My mother doesn't like animals or children so she seldom comes here. When she does, she sneezes her head off and makes me put my candles, potpourri and cleansers in the garage or plastic bags. I'm so glad things like that don't bother me. I took after my birth father in that area.

Well, I'm hoping to get a better nights sleep. I stay up too late and then have to get up before getting enough sleep. I go back to bed but not long enough to fall deeply asleep. Sometimes, when I begin to enter the deep REM sleep, I wake myself or make myself aware that my eyes are moving with my dreams, thinking I'm awake..... not restful at all.

I have two dear friends who have just been told their grandbabies have fatal illnesses. My heart is heavy for them and I am so thankful that all of our children and grandchildren are healthy. Our little Jackson had two grand mal seizures during an illness and had to have all sorts of tests. He was on Tegretol for over a year but is off now and has never had another. He's gorgeous! All our grandchildren and children are pictured in the family photo albums. I didn't post a picture of our son in law. He is causing our daughter major problems right now and has even gone out with another woman while our daughter works late. She's supporting the family. He won't look for a job outside of Radio and has been out of work for over 6 months.

Well, time to call and chat with some relatives who get free incoming calls at 9:00. Hope everyone has a very lovely evening and I'd really like to thank all who have rated me 5 stars. I was really touched when I saw the number today. You are too kind.

May I share two verses for tonight?

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose Him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, He was sent to the earth for all to see. And He did this for you. 1 Peter 1:18

Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. Jeremiah 20:9

Welcome to Diane's Thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

Good evening friends!

Today was different because I had a three year old boy and a 2 month old girl from 8:00 til 1:30 while the Dad went for a job interview. They were good for me tho. I didn't get much done at all. The baby didn't sleep and is used to being entertained.

After they left, Nick and I went to get our flu shots. I also got another pneumonia shot. I'd gotten one 7-9 years ago and don't really remember it. It's given in the muscle and my arm is swollen, very painful and has a red area down at the bottom of the muscle. The paperwork says half of adults have such reactions and there are no known serious side effects but it sure does HURT. I can't life my arm up to put away dishes or unload the dryer. It should be better in a few days tho. Both of our arms are slightly painful from the flu shot. I had been quoted $25. for the flu shot and $30 for the pneumonia shot but since I got both in one visit, I only paid less than $40.

Hubby has to go to the VA for his shot tomorrow. His will also be free. Nick's was covered by PeachCare but no local clinics who had the shots accepted Blue Cross.

Our weather is to warm back up to normal for this time of year. 70°'s during the day and 40°'s during the night. Jim has an appointment tomorrow afternoon and we are going to a concert of Signature Sound on Sunday with some friends. I'm guessing we won't get a lot accomplished this weekend. At least I don't have any child care til Tuesday morning.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Diane Tavegia

Welcome to Diane's Thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

Above is a picture of Nick doing his school work.

How is everyone this lovely day? I didn't accomplish much. My arm is better but still swollen and painful. I CAN lift if above my shoulder again, tho.

We made contacts for our church about the time change. I've still got to change MY clocks. I've always done it early the day before and 'lived' the whole day on the new time but hubby got up and walked puppy for me this morning and offered to let me stay in bed late since I was so uncomfortable with my arm. Since Jim isn't an animal lover, that was a BIG to do for me! A very sweet act!

Jon was going to Wal-Mart to pick up paint for the last thing we need finished for our Fall Festival but the road from right outside our subdivision down to Wal-Mart is closed off with MediVac, two helicopters, cop cars, ambulances everywhere. This road has always scared me! It's two lanes and the speed limit is 45 but people do 60. The come around the curves well over the middle line and there's no place for you to go. I've seen MANY wrecks, a number fatal, since we moved here 6 1/2 years ago.

We've been back in Georgia for 10 years yesterday. It really doesn't seem that long! Wow......

Hope everyone who is able will be in church tomorrow. If you live anywhere near here, I'd love to have you visit our church.

Welcome to
Diane's Thoughts,
both deep and not so deep!

Well what a lovely evening we had! We went with some dear friends of many years to a concert of Signature Sound (Gaither's group) just outside Atlanta and then for a late supper. We REALLY enjoyed ourselves. The concert started at 6:00 but we had to get seats before 5:00! There were people lined up outside trying to listen. They had a special on their DVD's and CD's. If you bought the DVD, the CD was free or you could buy another CD for $10. I got their new Christmas CD, a new CD and their DVD that was on t.v. the other night. We really enjoy all the Gaither DVD's!

I didn't get any house work done today! After church we rushed to finish the painting of the one big bean bag toss board. I took a photo of it but the flash washed out the color so the fishing pond appears white.... It's so cute! LOTS of detail tho so took me a long time to paint.

Jim took Nick to see Zorro this afternoon. Lots of silly humor, Jim says. Nick enjoyed it.

I've come to the conclusion that my arm is not red from the shot. The area where it's red is on the inside. I'd wrapped my arm in a cheap heating pad because I couldn't find our good one and then took a 3 hour nap. I think I got a minor burn through my thin shirt. The reddish spot is right where the heating pad was pushed up against my arm because of how I was laying. Anyhow, the swelling is WAY down and the discomfort is only minor now.

Tomorrow I won't have any daycare kids. One mom with a CP child needed me to babysit but I had to turn her down. We have Home School Band and then have to deliver all the games up to church and decorate PLUS iron parts of Nick's costume and make the fancy cape! Heather understands. She didn't even think about it until almost 9:00 tonight. She pays REALLY well but I had to say no.

Well, wishing all my friends a wonderful good night.

Your sister in Christ,
Diane Tavegia
