There are alot of beautiful poetry here!! Here are mine. Although it is not good, some of them I like, my style tends to be rhyming, so... enjoy [:)]. I have one more, but it's Marian and long, so these are sufficient. I Thank Thee, Lord I thank Thee, Lord, for many things which Thou hast given me: My breath, that waketh me each day, Mine eyes, that I can see. I thank Thee for mine ears, O Lord, That hear Thy peace on Earth, And for my mouth to bring Thee praise in sadness and in mirth. I thank Thee for mine hands, O Lord, that they may lift in prayer, And for my knees, that they may kneel in humble love and care. I thank Thee for my legs and feet upon Thy holy ground, And for mine head to rise in faith, when hardships bring me down. I thank Thee for my body, Thy reflection men do see And in my final hour, Lord, may I return to Thee. I thank Thee, Lord, that Love can fill this little heart of mine, But most of all, I thank Thee that forever, I am Thine. Lullaby The stillness of the passing river, Throughout the valleys and mountains green, Carries the passive moon of silver As the bright reflection does flicker The vivid rays of a moonlit stream. And then the moon bids its own farewell And disappears in the dawning sky. The morning light lures a magic spell Of twilight as the charm shall quell The spirits of the mortal realm so nigh. The sun peaks into the break of day To paint the world a brilliant gold As hope and love flow in every way And happiness sings the night away As children of the earth unfold. The dusk ascends as day becomes slumber In which the wind sings an ancient song, A melody of of ambient wonder To lull a child from endless thunder, For in the stillness, nothing goes wrong. Sleep, my child, among stars in the air And let the wind carry every dream, Where life is joyful, mirthful and fair Within the safe arms in which I bear, And forever, peace shall smile and beam. Amazing Is This Love of His Amazing is this love of His, That He should die for all, As He atoned for every sin By every strike and fall. So destined for this Roman death, We wonder at this loss As Jesus walked on Calvary To bear His wooden cross. Along this road, His knees gave way And Jesus then fell down. But soldiers watched His every step And pulled Him from the ground. He saw His mother crying so, That death would take her Son. But deep within, all knew from there, He was the Chosen One. Barefoot upon the solid earth, Our Simon helped on trail, And sweet and dear Veronica Then wiped His face by veil. He fell again, but quickly rose As counsel never came, And gave His comfort to the women Grieving just the same. Much closer to the foot of death, He fell for one more time, And by His strength, He reached the top To die for love sublime. The soldiers stripped His garments off And laid His body down Upon the solid, wooden cross That rested on the ground. With every nail, He took the pain And blood ran from each hand. The thorns that pierced His holy head Was placed in their demand. If He was crowned with thorns for me, Then kings of earth should flee, For none are worthy by His Love That set us captives free. At last, the cross was raised up high, That tree that held His life. His spirit left His body and He died to end all strife. His body then, was taken down, Entombed by all who mourned In hopes that God took care of Him When He was mocked and scorned. Then Jesus rose from death's cold hands And He did live again As testimony of His kingdom 'Mongst all sinning men. Behold, our Christ victorious As Royal Majesty, For this fulfilled the scripture of His death on Calvary. Amazing is this love of His, That He should die for all, As He atoned for every sin By every strike and fall. So destined for this Roman death, We wonder at this loss As Jesus walked on Calvary To bear His wooden cross. Fallen Revelation I thought about the Lord each night and what He planned for me, But I just couldn't place of where my life was meant to be And so I came to church one night, and kneeled right down and prayed, And by the Holy Spirit's sight, I saw the ones unsaved. In the vigil of my prayers, I began to think in dread, For God sent me impressions of all sinners to my head. Their wickedness, iniquities, and emptiness they'd keep And filled with my compassion, my devotion made me weep. I saw the peoples all around the world in Satan's bond; This was a Hell within the Earth that all had looked upon. The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah rose into its reign, As darkness taught their hearts to fear, and dwell in what was bane. I saw the rapists' pleasure and their wicked, chosen fate, And saw the bombing warheads of the nations filled with hate, The children and their grieving, left abandoned there to die In lands diseased with famine's plague; I heard my own heart cry. The gamblers I have seen, corrupted from their riches vast, Knew not with Jesus Christ, that earthly treasures never last. Their hearts were full of emptiness, and never satisfied, And yet they took up frailties of their greedy selfish pride. I saw the ones intoxicated, poisoned in surprise, And saw the many, tangled in their giant web of lies. The youth became deceived by him, the prince of Hell's domain And by the Tempter's influence, his darkness would remain. The bloodshed and the murders struck a chord inside my heart, For wickedness held strong to them with vengeance playing part. Corrupted ones, the cheaters and the liars had no guilt And men with these foundations are destroyed from whence they're built. And then I saw these fortune tellers, thinking that it's right To use these tools of Satan, finding futures through insight. There's witchcraft working through our world; they praise their gods of stone, And practice magic incantations God detests alone. The scent of blood panged through the air with martyrs' silent screams And fallen saints and angels tumbled from a nightmare's dream. The prophecy approaches near; that time is coming soon, And yet so many souls are lost into impending doom. Drunk with painful pleasure, demons roamed through Satan's call, For they were once angelic but their sins have made them fall. Promised with Earth's riches, men have hailed the Dragon's reign, But their eyes have been deceived, and instead their souls were slain. The diabolic message is that Satan rules through sin And the men who follow darkness are the ones enchained to him. The Devil rules our earthly world, and we must flee from vice, Before the mighty Serpent tempts our lives away from Christ. How fallen all these people are! The Devil binds them tight! He keeps them in the darkness so they'll never find the light. But if persistence proves to save them ere the rapture's start, We'll fill their souls with Yahweh's light, and love shall fill each heart. But now I know how Jesus felt when He had seen mankind With evil in their paths of life, no wonder they were blind! They turned away from God, our Lord, our haven safe to dwell, And there the nightmare then remains, with Earth as living Hell.
