ORIGINAL: sunshine4God Mary Mary. All well and good that you've got that album in your CD player, you don't want to put it in your (Windows) computer! http://forums.crosswalk.com/Sony_has_gone_too_far!/m_616753/tm.htm To summarize that thread. Sony has put what amounts to a "trojan horse" as copy protection on many of it's CDs (see the thread for a list, including Switchfoot and Kirk Franklin as well). This software embeds itself in essential operating functions and hides itself so that it doesn't appear in file menus or on the Add/Remove Programs list. Trying to remove it can cause your CD-ROM drive to stop working, or even corrupt unrelated files. Sony's "patch" to make the files visible also gives it the ability to "phone home" and report usage statistics (and possibly other information) to Sony. Personally, I'd probably have bought Switchfoot's latest "Nothing Is Sound", and be listing it as what's in my CD player right now, but I refuse to support such business practices (even if I know how to avoid getting "infected" by the malware). As it is, I have Switchfoot's "The Legend of Chin" in the player in my room, Salvador's "Salvador" is playing on my computer while I post, and I'll probably give a listen to John Reuben's "So in Hindsight the Professional Rapper Isn't There Yet" later today.
