Now that we are all on about the same page, give or take, I'd like to know when we all came to the Lord.
I was 11 from an unbelieving church attending family. I knew I was a Martha and wanted so bad to be a Mary. That was the sermon when I went forward on the altar call. Then I suffered at the hands of well meaning people for a very long time to finally discover our Lord is alive and here several decades later, speaking to us, loving us, helping us and empowering us with his Holy Spirit. WOW. What a revelation to me.

Tang - the drink of the astronauts! We had to get those men in outer space and back again somehow! :)
I remember going outside and watching Sputnik cross the skies and thinking "How odd is that! There's a monkey up there!"
The space capsule, by the way, would probably have fit in my first car, a 1975 Olds Cutlass. I think it was bigger than the SUV I drive now! ha!

I remember my parents taking us all out in out jammies to see a 'saddle light' going over us in the sky. I never did see it.......

I'm 47 and can remember getting 10 cents for a weekly allowance. I would get it on Saturady and go down to the grocery (mom and pop) on the corner and get a load of candy for 10 cents. Never again.

As to when and how I got saved...
I was raised Roman Catholic, much of it is well depicted in the movie "The Blues Brothers" and the nun with the ruler.
Anyway, at age 18, my best friend was murdered, and I turned my back on the concept of a loving God, and entered into the drug scene.
After I took LSD, I discarded all but love and began going into meditation and the occult. I also tried to tie common factors from all world religions, hoping that since all dealt with the same subject, any commonalities, would get me closer to the truth of God.
What ended up was a mass of confusion. One day, high, and looking at my life. I realized that I had all the possesions I could want, a great job, friends, and about to get married. It knew that I could go back to school, to be able to make more money, to accumulate more things, but my heart would still be unsatisfied at it's root.
I prayed and said "Jesus, if you are real, come into my heart and take my life, for if this is all life is about, I do not want it".
I felt a liitle different, just a kind of peace, and dismissed it. About ten minutes alter, my best friend cam over, and after speaking to me just afew mintues, out of the blue he says to me "Man, I do not know what it is, but you are different somehow, you have changed"
A few weeks later, I moved to Albequerque to get married ( i thought). The fiance met me at the airport, within a few minutes, she is repeating the same words of my friend "You have changed, i do not know what it is, but you are different".
We did not marry, and I moved back to my home town. I soon after baptized in the Holy Spirit.
This is the long and short of it for me

Thanks for sharing that, Bob.
I don't remember when I came to the Lord, but I made my public confession at the age of 10. It seems like I have always had a relationship with the Lord. I can remember His presence being very real and me praying to Him from the time I was 4 years old.
I know at the age of 18, I was lying in bed one night, and I was thinking about my life and what the future held. I saw lots of successful people around me who were not happy. My parents had never gone to church except when I was baptised and maybe a couple of other times. They did talk about the Lord and they did try to help people, but they just didn't go to church. My dad was a pk, and he was not big on church, but He did say he respected people who loved the Lord and he loved the Lord. He never said anything negative about church. I just think it confined him.
Now I say all this because I do believe my parents knew the Lord, but I didn't grow up in a church going home; however, I went to church regularly from the time I was little. I remember being 8 or 9 years old and getting myself up on Sunday morning, dressing myself and riding my bicycle to church alone. Did that for years. On bad days my mother would take me or I'd ride with a neighbor. Otherwise, I took myself to church. I look back now and I KNOW that it was the Lord spurring me on.
So anywayyy, my senior year in high school there was such a hunger in me to study the Bible. I started reading it -- really reading it -- for the first time on my own. I read through it in about a year, and at the end of that year was when I was lying in bed and said almost exactly the same you said, Bob. I believe something happened to me at that point. I don't think it was salvation, because I believe the Lord has confirmed to me many times that I already knew Him. I think I just stepped into a maturity that I had never known before that time. Not saying I was "mature," but just that I moved much closer to the Lord than I had ever been. Something like that also happened to me after I had a nervous breakdown about 10 years ago.

I grew up in church and accepted Christ at the age of 12 in a Baptist church. At 18 I surrendered my life full time to God. I became active in church work. About 3 years ago the church I attended had a large split over a really messy situation. For the first time in my life I did not have a church home. This has been a rough 3 years trying to find where God wants me to serve (I know that's a long time.) I am attending a church of a different denomination, where I work with children now.
One think I remember about the mid 70's is that it was somewhat popular to be a "Christian". Pat Boone was baptising people in his swimming pool, Jesus Freaks were common, and the musical Jesus Christ Superstar became famous.
At my school, people had "One Way" stickers on their lockers. Many of the people in my school, including me, were in a large singing group. We went around to churches and even schools performing. We had daily devotions read each morning over the intercom at our public high school. I was part of a super youth group that kept me from getting into too much trouble.

I don't remember the stickers, but I remember life before Christian radio - when Keith Green and the Second Chapter of Acts was the nearly the entirety of contemporary Christian music - and then along came Amy Grant. Thank you, Jesus! for Christian Radio!!
I was in one of those singing youth groups, too! Otis Skillings was a pretty popular writer of those musicals, I think. I also think back then, my hair was nearly as long as my skirt! *blush* but the hemline was modest compared to today's clothing styles.

Lisa and other old timer-computer types: I ran across an item from my ancient "keep in case you ever want to use it again" file (which is not actually in one location, but is spread around in any and every drawer, box, and cubby hole I have access to at work or home). The author is not known by me, but it was written for posting above copier machines or any other device used by the general population where there is a temptation to "fix" or tinker with it.
ACHTUNG!
Alles touristen und non-technishen looken peepers! Das machine is nicht fur derfingerpoken und mittengrabben. Is easy schnappen der springenwerk, blowenfusen und popencorken mit spitzen sparken. I still love Keith Green. What an anointed man. His wife is an anointed Christian sister also, but I haven't heard anything about her in a long time.

LOL!! Several years ago, I put this on the copier at the church, after some of the yutes (aka youths) were making copies with the copier lid open, and also making copies of their hands and faces.
P. S. I hate copiers, and the only thing I hate more than copiers are printers.

I feel fortunate; at work we have a combination printer and copier. Nothing helps build patience like waiting for the secretary to make copies of her favorite recipe while my much-needed printout sits in the printer queue.

LOL--everyone calls me when the copier doesn't work.
When I went to school had to take an office machine class, in which I learned how to run a mimeograph (sp?). Now thats a marketable skill these days!

Ugh! what a nightmare those were! 
I've pretty much been mostly a sporty or casual jeans guy. Never could stand ties but wore them when I had to. But I'd just as soon wear a jacket over the t-shirt and forget the tie. Clothes rebel.
