(((hugs for Beckey)))

That's how I lost my 1st 35mm- a Pentax K1000. Someone stole it out of my car at work. Are you reporting the theft and claiming it on insurance or just dealing and buying another out of pocket?

~ezri

Out of pocket. We don't have home owners or renters insurance, so that will be next on my research and purchase list. The auto insurance doesn't cover it.

ouch! Did you file a police report? It may turn up in a pawn shop. Around here cops and pawn shops keep an eye out for stolen stuff.

Yes I did file a police report, but I'm not holding out too much hope along those lines. We'll see.

A few years ago, a neighbor's house was broken into. They stole an antique Victrola record player. It showed up at a local auction a couple weeks later. He got it back, and the police were able to make an arrest from that.

Homeowners insurance will not cover cameras. You have to get a separate rider for it. Same as other collectibles and jewelry. I hope you get your camera back.

I had a camera stolen. My homeowners insurance covered it. Perhaps it depends on the insurance company.

I received my 50-200 zoom for my Pentax K10. I am going to Texas next week. And I will visit this bird sanctuary and I am eager to see what pictures I can get there with the new lens

Have fun on vacation Utility We go to the mountains in a month.

I printed a contact sheet of that first assignment roll today. I so wanted to print a few photos off of it right then.

I can't wait til friday. we go over grain then and at that point we pick ONE image to print for class off the contact sheet. Hehehehehe- I could have stayed on today longer but I was on someone else's enlarger and it's timer was all whacked out.

Any Nikon D series owners here have problems with overexposure?
I am now setting to -3 to -7 on outdoor shots.
Nope, my D300 is working great. Same with my old D200.

d200 and d300 have different metering reputations.

True. The D300 is a bit hotter than the D200 but per my observations and use neither are overexposing.

yeah, have the poor country cousin Nikon!

The only way to really tell if it is overexposing would be to see some raw samples. You might head over to www.nikonians.org and their forums. MANY active people there ranging from true amateur to world-class professionals. You'll find a great deal of information and help.

This in the past week and a half I have printed a contact sheet, Test strips, and today I actually did my very first prints! If I had not had to of gone to the eye doctor I sure would have been in there until 2pm.

Hardest parts of the whole thing from begining to end?

Keeping up with the timing on the developing of the negetives AND finding the "grain" of the print prior to exposing the photo paper.

OH and the STUPID thing to overcome... Over excitement and "burning" a sheet of photo paper because you got silly and left the enlarger light on as you set pulled the photo paper out of the light tight box, DUH it is a light tight box for a REASON!~

I still want to print the belly dancers feet, the Chinese silk hat and silk shawls, as well as the photo of a friend and Triss chatting.

I may just need to order more paper...

I am back from vacation. I shot pictures for two days of my vacation. On both days the skies were overcast. On the first day I went to South Padre Island. I shot a drawbridge over a canal on the trip to Padre and then I stopped at a beach to shoot the birds and the waves. The next day I went to the bird park to shoot the birds and the javalinas.

I shot about 300 images. Shooting digital is very freeing and time saving.

300 images! When are you gonna share some?

I am learning some moderation with the film cameras... SOME not much My History on Edge barn is probably not much longer for this earth. Sadly a "For Sale" sign went up and now a developer sign for some business park. I am holding out hope as the sign is in the sweet potato field next to the barn and not right in front of it. However I am having a hard time imagining a business park next to this barn so I went out and shot on the tripod some panoramic shots<-- view large and pan to see entire shot.

I set up the film camera to shoot some B&W of the same and took A LOT more care setting the shots up and double checking everything before I hit the shutter.

I sit here in shock...

my "History on Edge" barn...

Fire Ravages Barn Twice
quote:

Smithfield — The barn on Booker Dairy Road across from Smithfield-Selma High School burned in two fires Tuesday evening and just after midnight Wednesday.

According to an emergency communications dispatcher, Smithfield Fire Department responded to a fire call at the barn at 6:44 p.m., and again at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday.

I... I... I snapped that barn at 4:19pm on Monday, a little more than 24 hours before it went up. this is almost as bad as if they bull dozed it. worse... burning it??? why??? (yeah, I am really upset about this.)

I know how you feel. I was on the boardwalk half an hour before a nor'easter crushed it. Then it burned down completely less than a year later.

And you and Gary can brag all you want about how "freeing" digital is. I won't be one bit jealous. Nope, not one. So what if I still have film from Christmas that I can't afford to have processed.

That happened with a historic school I went to. It "mysteriously" went up in flames shortly after the replacement school was opened and all of us were trying to preserve the old one. The unofficial word from firemen was arson but somehow it never got into official reports.

Here is my new camera bag. Yeah, it's a diaper bag - but it doesn't SCREAM "diaper bag". I need to see if I can get some foam insert thingies so I can pad it a little better and customize it.

ooooooohhhhhhh...while looking for inserts, I found some pretty cool waterproof cases by Pelican. Maybe for Christmas next year.

I can get some inserts from them.

Beckey,

I say a guy that had gotten a bag and customized it like you are talking- he used Domke inserts from adorama.com I was thinking about hitting the local army surplus store and grabbing an old ammo bag that looks a lot like your diaper bag and tweeking it out with the inserts myself. I want to be able to get all three active cameras + the flash mobile in ONE bag if needed. Right now I have two film cameras crammed into a converted Camcorder bag and the rest of the gear in the el'cheapo canon back pack.

Oh and RE: the domke inserts... if you are any good at sewing at all I have been told that they are not so hard to make. this hand making thing is something I am considering. BUT that probably will not happen until it is too HOT outside for me to want to go out there.
