I almost stopped several times today on my two hour drive home to take pics of thunderclouds and scenery, but I couldn't do it. With two toddlers asleep in the back seat I didn't want to risk waking them up.

Sarah you can post a link to the pics or you can set up a photo album at the top of the webpage where it says photogallery. Or start one online

I have a webshots and flickr account.. they're both free up to a certain number of pics

I love macro photography too. In fact, I have a close-up filter that screws into the front of my zoom, magnifying the image up to 6X! I've been bidding on a number of focusing rails on e-bay, but have lost all of them so far. The rails will make it much easier to focus with that magnifier on. As to the scenery, what size lens are you using? If I push my 28-80 zoom all the way out to 28mm I can usually get the entire scene I'm shooting for. And I shoot a lot of ocean pics.

And yeah, the size limitations on this site are frustrating, but something is certainly better than nothing. Once I get my home pooter working I'm going to do an album here. Right now I only have the one on MSN that I linked to earlier in this thread.

There was a link in that post. I guess my font color is too close to the link color. There are 354 copies available from Amazon ranging from $.28. There's one new one for $12.

Right now I have hello and picasa connected to my blog. Very easy to use, and no uploading required. Picasa makes good collages too. Here is a recent beach pic I took with my digital. sea grass and a sea rose

I'm bad, I don't know exactly what setting I have it too when I shoot close, but I usually push the limit to get right into something. I've never heard of rails, but it sounds like it's an extra filter right? Anyway, if I can post the full size, I have a pic of an apple blossom, but when it's full screen you can see the veins in the flower petal.

Sarah,

I am always set to macro too. I was actually took a couple of more portrait type photos of my kids a while back and after doing 3 shots and being dissappointed realized I had taken them in the Macro setting.

My faves are roses, flowers, anything that when looked at closely you can see the finger prints of God~ How could anyone think He didn't do it all~ create it all when as you said you can see the viens in each petal and each petal is attached in the same manner on every flower and all of that came fromwhat started out as NOTHING but sun, soil, water, and air??? Seeing a tiny bud brust open over night into a 5" blossom of over 100 individual petals! WOW!

Any way I could go on and on and on...

So my family, candid shots especially~ flowers~ Trees~ leaves~ I am a sucker for a sunset.... I loved living close to DC cause It afforded some Awe inspiring photos of monuments.

I have a sony Mavica 4Mega Pixel. it is slow to record, but I love the pocket CD-r's that is how I store my pics... I usually write in marker the dates covered on the dick and what the majority of the photos are of or if it is Birthday for jerry then that. All usually end up in a case which is currently not where it is supossed to be.

Hi All,
I am using Picasa2/Hello/Blogger also. Had some initial problems but they are all sorted now. There seems to be no limit to the number of photos as I have been loading them in for 3 months now

Ausme,

The dandylion was awesome there on the top! What camera are you using? 35mm slr or digital?

I like the clock towers too~ I was in wilmington NC a few years ago and they have some awesome old churches, I wanted to go around and snap each one but we didn't have the time. Some other time maybe.

Yeah, I just discovered more of my pics on a cigar drive, but my blog is mostly writing so I don't have many pics posted. Picasa/Hello is awsome software, because it takes all the time out of resizing, sorting, finding and uploading. I get to play more!!! A few years back I did shots of frozen drops of water on a barbwire fence after an ice storm, I did this with a 28mm on my good ol' Pentax, before I lost it to water damage. Flowers are my weakness. Dad sees me with a camera and says, "Your not taking pictures of flowers again are you?" I've discovered the preserving power of a picture of a flower vs. having cut flowers around to enjoy. Things to can't see in the dead of winter you can still study and enjoy

I want to break into candids more, I did a friends wedding as a back up, and she and her husband liked the shots better than the photographer they hired, partly because I really worked on capturing details. Her bouqet, hair, the water fountain on the cake. I caught some serious emotional moments, between family etc. It was really fun, but I found myself feeling shy at sneaking around when other people were sitting and participating in the wedding. Portraiture has always been a desire, so I started photographing myself (since I don't have any willing subjects) and came up with some interesting pictures. Composing shots is almost as fun as playing with the pictures afterwards, it takes some creativity to get what you want.

I did a year when every sunset or unique lighting situation in the sky came along I took a picture. I made a scrapbook page of all these light configurations, and called it ,"Let there be light." It turned out really neat, and it's kind of odd in a sense to see different sunsets together, side by side.

These are some of last years roses --> LINK to Yahoo Photo album

The rose and daisy avatars on on the next photo album are mostly this years Flowers. --> Link to Avatar Album

I have more recent photos of my roses this year on my blog A Place of Comfort <-- thats a link too My Blog is about half and half... photos and writing. Be warned. I call it a place of comfort cause I can freely babble there and not have to worry who's ear I am bending cause if they click me then they either know what to expect OR they deserve to be babbled at

Edited to add: BTW~ My Blog is PINK too. You have been warned.

OH Ezri!!!!!!!!! Gosh girl you made me drool! I have it something bad for pictures like that You must have some decent rose bushes in reach! Love Em'! If I could just get organized enough to make avatars. But now that my blog will take pics, i have forwarned my readers...

I am the same way, I usually babble on my blog, but it's mostly any spiritual/personal growth issues. Something I hope someone else can gleen from/relate to. Actually it started from an old CW thread called GAW (God's At Work), the regulars began emailing each other off CW, and as we've gotten busy with life I've continued on my blog, I call it Petal Pieces oddly enough. Blogging is probably my biggest hobby outside of photography... just don't get me going, I'll be OT!

Aww thanks, you are all so nice!

I do have a rose garden. It is brand new... It's first summer here. I had one in Virginia and when we sold that house I had to leave the roses there So hubby promised me a rose garden and he has come thru marvelously on that promise here. I will tell you that you should NOT buy the 3-5 dollar roses at wal mart or k mart that come in the wee plastic baggies with roots in sawdust~ my 4 like that are doing so poorly!!! even the 1 that came in a POT from walmart is 'eh... All my others are from Jackson and perkins (lowes sometimes stocks them) and they are abosolutely fabulous!!! well worth the additional $ spent. I ordered mine off line and they came bare root in the mail. They are doing wonderfully!

I changed my avatar to play along with the other gals. I miss my pretty rose. I need to go see if i can snap off some shots of that chrysler Imperial before it wilts in the sun~ another scorcher with triple digits today.

normally, I do to....but this one can't decide if it wants to be a bush or a tree and it grows fast and hits me in the face when I go out the front door....I have to cut it back too often, it drives me crazy.

Hmmm.... I was actually considering purchasing one to go in my front yard. I need to replace the tree that my neighbor cut down.

just don't put it right next to your front door and you'll be very happy with it (I think)

Thanks for this thread. I recently moved up to a Canon Digital Rebel (aka 300D), but I haven't had a chance to get out and really use it much. Hopefully tomorrow my son and I will be heading down to Glenrose (south of Fort Worth) for some small town hospitality. I'll shoot as much as I can and post online after processing in Photoshop CS.

I took a rosarian course eons ago, and that's what they suggested, but they also suggested rose growing nurseries. Ah, someday, when I have a little place of my own
