Hi. I have a very unique dilemma. I was fortunate enough to be given the oppty for career advancement last summer which required me to move out of state from my family. My husband stayed behind to sell our house and also because we thought his company was beginning to downsize and he would be let go-with a severance package to help us defray some of the costs of moving. It has been almost a year (11 mos), and no house sale, no job layoff. I am now wanting to move back home- the costs of two residences (mortgage and my rent) at the current state outweighs the gains. My husband wants to move where I am- he says he will walk away from the house and his job so we can be together. But his idea of walking away is to let the house foreclose by not making payments anymore! I feel so strongly about upholding my financial obligations that I am willing to move back home,and give up great career opportunities. I feel like my choice has caused me to seek the current oppty (and the greed of wanting more money.) People lose their houses everyday due to factors they have no control over- I made the choice to move and therefore it was within my control. Maybe God was trying to show me that it is not all about your title, your income. I feel so strongly about this and I cannot understand why or how, my husband can be willing to walk away from our obligations- we are now fighting for the first time in years. Now, there is no guarantee that he still won't lose his job in a few months- but I feel like there is a reason why we haven't sold our house... I need some help getting through this- I cannot sleep, I am miserable. I miss my husband and our family unit that I just can't continue. Am I doing the right thing? I pray everyday that God will tell me what the next step is. I believe he wants me to go home. But then there are my doubts that maybe I am too acting on emotion?

Hi Arnie... and welcome! I think you have already been given the answer. The Holy Spirit is convicting you to do the right thing in not allowing the foreclosure to take place.
We are to submit to our husbands... but not when it goes against God, or our obedience to Him.
The Word tells us that we cannot serve two masters, we cannot serve God and mammon. You already feel conviction to let the money part go and return home to do what is right. That's the Holy Spirit.
Father... in the name of Jesus we pray for arnie right now... We bring her before Your throne asking that You would give her an open door of passage. Lord, help her in making the correct decision... instill in her, Your desires. Father we ask that You go before her and prepare her husbands heart... Father place conviction upon him also to do the right and proper thing before You. Prepare him Lord, and soften his heart... that when arnie speaks to him about this, he will also desire to do right.

I believe too that the Lord has given you the answer. If you feel in your heart that you should move home, I would follow that. That is God talking to you, don't let the house go, having good
credit now a days is so important and I don't want to see that come back to bite either one
of you....Go with your feelings....
Lord, please just guide this couple and give them the strength and wisdom to make this
right decision together..

Help arnie and her husband to be on the same page wth the best course of action. Help them both to be on the side of long-term wisdom ... your wisdom. We pray for them in Jesus' name. Amen.

Just another thought, could you rent the house till it sells if your husband comes to where you are?

Pastor Debi, I am asking for prayers for my Mother-in-law, last year she was operated on for cancer, well it came back, she has 2 lumps in the same place, plus two in her lungs, and its in her blood stream. I adore this woman, she is 76, and her name is Marie. She phoned me and she is scared. the doctor told her it's a very fast moving cancer. Its called Metastatic, Melanoma.
Also for my niece who's Name is also Debi, she has been fighting cancer 5 years, in her lungs now they want to take her. lung out. Her younger sister, just passed away about a month ago. Thank you God Bless.

my husband will not even entertain the idea of renting the house because his friends have had bad experiences renting their properties. Part of my problem is I feel like he keeps trying to find the easy way out and is not willing to listen to reason.
