So, it's that time of the year again...the "end of the school year burnout" I'm a senior in HS and I've been fortunate enough to homeschool for the last two years but now, the end of the last school year I will ever have, I'm just sitting here, staring at my books and the teeny tiny amount of work I have to do to be offically done and I would seriously rather stab myself in the eye than do it. I decided that I would finish this weekend...and, uh, yeah... that didn't happen. Every time I pick up my pencil, I seem to work way slower than usual...and it just seems to drag on forever

So, any other high schoolers that home school? Or even that are in "regular" schools? What do you do to stay motivated when the school year is this close to being over?

Just a mom here, but what ou are experiencing is normal. Around here it is referred to as Senioritus. PS and HS kids alike get it. As a hs kis, I would recommend that you st a date for when you have to complete your schooling. Come up with something special to reward yourself with IF you complete it by the target date. Maybe even set up an additional award for if you complete your studies before the target date.

Ugh! Moms get it too!

I totally DID NOT want to do the last unit of Brit Lit. Fortunately I have a good friend who is a retired ps English teacher. She told me no one ever does the last unit well, just runs through it in the quickest way possible. Because it is a senior course, and everyone is getting ready for graduation and college and it's so hard for students (and teachers) to focus.

Our final is Wednesday. Hope yours are over soon too!

Yep, moms get it too.

Ask your parents if you can have some sort of a reward for finishing - a new shirt or a boatload of chocolate or a trip to Disney World. Explain to them that you need something to motivate you to finish. I bet they'll understand and come up with something within the family budget that you can have or do if you finish by a certain date. If you have younger siblings, include them in the reward and you will finish in record time because they'll bug the snot out of you.
