I feel guilty about my pathetic prayer life. I should pray more but I forget. I have seen the power of prayer yet I neglect it.
I dare say, I am not alone.
Hubby and I went to see the Kendrick Brothers’ movie, War Room, and were reminded afresh about the power of prayer.
“I see in you a warrior that needs to be awakened.” -War Room Movie quote
I walked away from this movie feeling stirred up—awakened to the spiritual battle all around. I was spurred on to pray more often, more diligently and with greater urgency.
Too often we neglect one of our strongest weapons for battle.
We have been weakened by busyness, distracted by shiny things and underwhelmed by the God of the Universe. We need to wake up, take a stand and stop wasting time.
War Room is a battle cry to rally believers to pray often and fervently—beginning in our own homes.
There is a delightful young actress, Alena Pitts, who plays Priscilla Shirer's daughter, Danielle, in War Room. I am delighted to share an interview I did with Alena as she talks about her experience with this movie.

Hi, I’m Alena and I’m eleven years old. I just acted in my first feature film. I have three sisters and a mom and dad. I love them so much and they have had a great impact on my life. I also love reading, writing and playing outside.
Was War Room your first movie?
I’ve never acted before, not even a church play, so War Room was my first movie. It was a lot of fun!
My daughter wants to know what it was like to be in a movie? What was one of your favorite parts? What was one of the hardest parts?
Being given the opportunity to act in a movie was probably one of the best experiences in my life. One of my favorite parts was being able to meet all the different people on set. One of the hardest parts was having to do the same scenes over and over but it payed off because they turned out to be really good scenes!
What have you learned about prayer after being in War Room?
I’ve learned that prayer is extremely important and that God listens to our prayers, no matter what is going on.
Did you know how to Double Dutch before the movie? Or did a “double” do those scenes for you?
I did not know how to Double Dutch at first but they got me a coach so that I could learn to do it in front of the camera, so I didn’t have any doubles.
Was it hard not to laugh during the scene when your “mom” was eating potato chips in her closet?
The potato chip scene was really hard not to laugh at when we were filming it. In fact, while we were shooting it we had to start over because I could not stop laughing!
What do you hope people learn from this movie?
I hope people learn that prayer works and impacts our everyday circumstances.
Are you currently working on any acting/movie projects now?
I am currently not working on any movies but I hope to in the future!
What encouragement do you have for other girls about their walk with the Lord?
You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength, (Phil. 4:13) so don’t ever doubt yourself because you think you’re not good enough. God will be with you no matter what.
