Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox Collection Week is Here!

so the woman took the child

…So the girl went and called the child's mother. And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, ‘Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.’ So the woman took the child and nursed him. Exodus 2:8-9

Did Moses’ mom ever question, ever weep bitterly over why God would even bring this baby into her arms, only to require she lay him down in the Nile? Did she question why she was even his mom? Did she doubt God’s good purpose in creating her son?

But, in a beautifully impossible turn of events, this mom went from losing to receiving and laying down to picking up. She was affirmed and led back into her calling to be a mom to her baby boy, summoned by her princess and God Himself.

So often, we question and we doubt and we wonder if we even heard God correctly, just as Moses' mom may have done. We debate - are we, in fact, called to this at all? We question God's good purpose and sovereign hand that guides our lives.

And, then sometimes, in His great and unfailing mercy, God responds with a resounding “yes,” just like He did for Moses' mom.

Friends, let that happen here and today.

Your answer is yes. He's called you to this.

You heard God correctly, and you can trust His heart of love today.

Prayer

Lord, help us to stay strong and faithful in the calling you have on our lives. When faced with disappointment and loss, bless us with endurance and hope. Lord, we need spiritual eyes to see past the obstacles and into the purpose you are accomplishing for your glory. Please grant your affirmation even now, today, Lord. Increase our confidence in you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

31 Days of Purpose: Devotions from the early life of Moses

From a boat-basket to a burning bush, Moses’ call to leadership is filled with everyday people and situations, all divinely orchestrated for God's divine purpose. As we study the early years of Moses, we see a consistent theme of God raising up the unlikely and transforming the average with His anointing. That's me, and that's you - common people, yet commissioned for a high calling. Let's step into it this month, together.
