Can You Handle the Truth?

Wouldn’t you rather someone tell you the truth, than lie to you? I know that I would. And that’s why I think one of my favorite Scriptures is John 8:32 which says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” That is so true! I mean, who wants to live a lie or be told lies to believe? Remember, the devil is the father of lies, and the Bible commands us that we shall not lie. So instead of believing lies, or living a lie, let’s hold onto the truth.

This truth that I’m talking about today comes from God’s word. Unfortunately, religion has deceived so many people. Trust me. I’ve been there before. But thank God I learned over the years that it’s not enough just to go to church, Bible Study, or an awesome conference and hear the word and do nothing about it. Instead, I had to take those new truths and apply them to my life in order to see change and experience true deliverance. And that’s the same thing that you have to do.

Again, Jesus tells us that we will know the truth, and it will make us free. BUT we also have a free will. So that’s why it’s so important for us to take initiative and do what the word says so that we can be free. But don’t take my word for it. James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Get it? What this means is that once you know the truth, the next step is to obey it. It’s not just enough to go to church and hear a good sermon or read a good article and then go back to life as usual. No, follow through on it. Otherwise you’re only deceiving yourself.

For example, if the word says in Ephesians 4:31-32, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as Christ forgave you,” then that’s what we should be striving to do. If the word says in Ephesians 5:22, “You wives will submit to your husbands as you do to the Lord.” then that’s what we should be striving to do. Or if Ephesians 5:18 says, “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you,” then that’s what we should be striving to do. Do you get it? (Now, personally I haven’t drank in over 16 years-Praise God! But I want you to get the overall point).

Remember Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” And so now that you know the truth of God’s word, what are you going to do about it? Do you see where I’m going with this? Can you handle it? Because that’s the question of the hour.

The key is receiving the word and living it out. Amen! It’s a process, but one that we must stick with at all cost. One Scripture that helps me is James 4:17, “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” (NLT) Talk about heart check! Now you know this Scripture too! And guess what? Now that you know it, it will make you free! This Scripture will actually help you to make the right decision, when you’re about to possibly do something that you’ll later regret. It’s a good one to memorize.

Well, there you have it! Say, “I want the truth!” “I’m a changed woman!” “I’m a woman of the word!” It’s time sis. God knows, the world needs to see change and deliverance and character in us as Christians. Keep in mind…changed people, change people. Amen! I pray that you handled the truth well today! Love you sis!

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
