Find Your Focus

Do you know what you’re supposed to be doing in this season of your life? My next question is, “Are you doing it?” Or are you wandering around in your mind, lost, dreaming, and unfocused? When we are unfocused, that’s usually when we begin to lose sight of what’s most important or even the task at hand. It also allows room for the enemy, Satan to play mind games on us. Time is running out. Jesus is coming back soon! That’s why it’s time for you to find your focus.

Whether you’ve just been slothful (lazy or too relaxed), exhausted, procrastinating, confused, or overburdened, you’ve got to get focused on what you need to be doing in this particular season. Proverbs 4:25-27 says, “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.” (NLT)

So find out where you are. If you’re getting off track, go to God about helping you to gain ground again. Whether it’s the weight of sin in your life that needs to be repented of or doing what needs to be done in your personal life, job, ministry, home, or relationships; just don’t get sidetracked. Otherwise you’ll either miss opportunities that were yours to obtain, or you’ll begin dropping balls that should’ve never hit the floor! Find your focus.

I also need to mention here that sometimes you could be taking on too much. Have you ever thought about that? So know your limits. Know what God has laid out for you vs. what you’ve taken on yourself. Seek Him for wisdom by asking, “Lord am I doing too much? Am I taking on things that I shouldn’t? Please, balance me out.”

Also, make sure that you don’t get out of something just because you’re tired, fed up, or think it’s too much. Pray and seek wise counsel first. Because if the Lord wants to release you, He will make it clear. But if it’s yours to handle, He will give you the grace to endure it like He did with Paul in the Bible. God said, “My grace is sufficient for you. For my power is made perfect in weakness...” (2 Corinthians 12:9 – NIV) Know that He’s got you when you’re weak, so don’t lose focus.

Personally, I had to type up something and post it on my home office board that read, “KEEP CALM AND FOCUS ON JESUS AND MINISTRY.” This was a time when I was getting bombarded with all kinds of stuff to throw me off track and lose sight of what was most important. I needed something before me to help me to stay focused. So whatever it takes for you to stay focused on Jesus and what you’re called to do…DO IT! We have to do what it takes to pay close attention to all that God has entrusted to us like our marriages, kids, homes, jobs, ministry responsibilities, callings, friendships, and most importantly our relationship with Christ.

I pray that this post has ministered to you in a way that revolutionizes your life! I pray that it helps you to refocus on what’s most important in this season and re-prioritize if that’s what’s it takes. Just know that seasons do change and in every season there’s an opportunity for growth. So grow! Because God is always teaching us new things about Him, ourselves, our circumstances, and purpose.

Now, go with the flow of His amazing grace and allow Him to take you by the hand to do what needs to be done today and the days ahead. He’s got you…just find your focus AND move by faith.

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
