Do you find yourself a little anxious at times? How about being frustrated in the position or situation you’re in right now? Are you getting tired of waiting for something to come to pass that God has promised, yet has still not seen it come forth yet. If so, then I think you’ll need a healthy dose of godly contentment. I know this one might be a little tough for some reading this today, because being content is not easy. Trust me. I know this firsthand. But although the process of learning to be content can be emotionally painful, it does have great benefits in the long run. So in today’s post, it’s all about learning how to be content right where you are.

I have this gentle reminder of contentment that sits before me every day in my home office that reads, “Today…Let there be peace within me, trusting that God has planted me right where he wants me to be.” And the Scripture that accompanies this beautiful quote is Psalm 138:8 which says, “The Lord will work out his plans for my life-for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever…” And today, I want to extent this same quote and Scripture to you. Trust that God has planted you right where you are. There is no mistake about it. Always remember that God knows what’s best for you and me for that fact.

One of my favorite Scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 which encourages, “‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (NIV) I hold onto this verse anytime any form of discouragement or doubt tries to enter my mind about God’s plan for me. I’m also reminded that it’s not my plan, but His, and this also helps settle me down in my spirit. This Scripture thrusts me back into trust mode. And I pray that you have one that does the same for you.

Contentment is really about trusting God no matter what the circumstances look like. It’s pressing beyond how you feel and what it appears to be or whatever anybody says that’s contrary to His Word and what He’s already revealed to you (respectfully). It’s also choosing to wait on God to move in your life, while believing that His timing is perfect. Discontentment, on the other hand, steals our joy. We have to know that when we lose our joy even for a moment, it shows that we’re not trusting God.

We have to remember that He’s working it all out sis. He works in the background, while we’re sleeping, working, and doing His revealed will, all the while bringing everything together for our good. Romans 8:28 assures us of this, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (NLT)

Also know that God will never fail you. His Word says so in Hebrews 13:5, “…be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (NIV) In this verse it’s specifically pertaining to keeping our lives free from the love of money. And this is truly vital. Hopefully, you don’t have that problem of wanting to keep up with the Jones’. But if you do, check it today and get this right with God as well, because loving money is sinful. God knows how to take care of you, well. Just trust Him and rely on Jesus to help you, with the power of the Holy Spirit.

As I prepare to close this post, I want to encourage you go 100 where you are! Meaning…be content right where God has you, while giving it your all. Whether, it’s your job, ministry, school, marriage, parenthood, friendships, or whatever it is…go all the way! I’ve seen God bless in ways that has blown my mind when I’ve learned to be content (quiet, prayerful, diligent, and trusting Him). I believe it’s because it shows Him that I am resting in His promises and believing Him no matter what…by faith to move miraculously in my life! Nothing is impossible with God. Time is in His hands. My purpose is sure with Him. My job (and yours too), is to just sit back and allow Him to put all of the pieces together that will make us whole and ready for the Master’s use.

So choose to be still and wait patiently for Him my sister, and learn how to be content right where God has you. Keep moving in the right direction and doing what the Lord has called you to do today. Stay focused on this day. Do what you’re supposed to do now and rest in that. And sure, it’ okay to plan, but take note of Proverbs 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Believe this and believe Him! Choose contentment and allow God to move mightily in your life and those whom you are predestined to touch. ;-)

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
